A warm and friendly welcome awaited us upon our arrival. The house is beautiful inside and out, full of period features. Our room was spacious with a large double bed and stunning views over Ambleside looking over to the church. The room was lovely and warm both day and night and there was hot water 24/7 , and white fluffy towels. The place is spotless. I made a surprise discovery of hot chocolate sachets in the complimentary drinks pack in the room, which went down a treat, and there was also a fridge that came in handy. The cooked breakfast was delicious, portions were generous and served hot. I especially liked the cold butter and chilled fruit juices, and we were offered a selection of toast, and there was plenty of it. My husband loved the variety of cereals on offer. Most of all, the staff were warm and friendly and took time out of their day to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The fact it is a dog friendly hotel made our stay all the more enjoyable, and Floki our pug enjoyed his holiday too. We only stayed for a long weekend but will definitely be booking more visits in future. Highly recommend.

We love coming to the lakes every year. We love staying at The Old Vicarage a family run B&B. Dog friendly too. They're always friendly & welcoming & can't do enough for you. Why stay anywhere else. Brilliant! 5 stars from us.

Just had a long weekend stay at this delightful hotel. Situated right in the heart of Ambleside but just tucked away enough to be quiet. The hotel is spotless with friendly & helpful staff and dogs made to feel very welcome. Rooms are a decent size with modern bathrooms (ours had a separate shower & jacuzzi). The breakfast menu has all the usual favourites & more - cooked to order, hot & delicious. Although few didn't it, there is a pool & sauna room on site. The hotel also boasts a sizeable, private car park (which is a rarity in Ambleside). All in all, a very good hotel. Would highly recommend a visit. We'll be back soon.
