Beautiful place with amazing architecture. Free entry but I suggest to leave a donation for the up keep of this historical building. Gift shop and toilets inside.

Stunning Cathedral inside and out. They manage entry through donations; I paid £2 (but you can choose to pay less/more). Definitely got value for money with this visit and would recommend it if you are in the area.

What an amazing place to visit. Absolutely loved our day and we plan on going back to do the walk around the top. The cafe is also very nice and everywhere was so tranquil it felt like we had stepped into another world. Really beautiful place

I recently visited the Peterborough Cathedral last Wednesday and am delighted to give it a five-star rating. This magnificent church, accessible to the public, left me in awe. Its origins as a monastic community dating back to 654 AD, its status as one of the most famous medieval abbeys in the country, its role as the final resting place for two queens, and its connection to the Civil War make it a truly great site. The Cathedral welcomes visitors from Monday to Saturday, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, and Sundays from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. What struck me the most was the abundance of natural light inside the church, creating a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere. It's a photographer's dream, as the lighting is simply marvellous. During quieter moments, one can truly appreciate the cathedral's rich history. Although I regret not being able to explore the upstairs tour due to my busy schedule, I hope to have the opportunity to do so in the future. Entry is by donation, and it's wheelchair accessible in the main church area.

A beautiful cathedral which encourages people to enjoy the space. Great that contributions rather than an entrance fee are given, allowing everyone to be able to enjoy it. Good information all around. Staff/volunteers are welcoming and helpful.

Stunning architecture - especially for a building that has its origins 900 yrs ago. Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII's first wife, and Mary Queen of Scots are buried here. Well worth seeing.

Beautiful cathedral and very friendly volunteers who welcomed us as we entered it. There is a lot to see there. We visited just after Christmas and there was still a lovely smell of Christmas tree around the building. We visited as a family and our kids really enjoyed exploring the cathedral.

A super exhibition, with information brief enough but also informative. Moving displays with good sound effects. A great setting and on a hot day good choice to take young children out of the sun to see "real size dinosaurs ".

Gorgeous cathedral, the celling looks stunning with all the paintings and sculptures well preserved. You can visit the ground floor yourself when it is open, and the tour is organised (on Wednesdays) to the Tower with the ability to climb upstairs to see the upper floors. Absolutely stunning place and a must-see if you are visiting Peterborough.

First time to Peterborough and visited the Cathedral - the guide we spoke to was incredibly helpful and so passionate about sharing the stories and history with us, she also recommended other places to visit nearby. Well worth a visit! Reminded me of York Minster.

As Cathedrals go, it's pretty impressive - and also, unlike some they haven't put a hefty price tag to walk through the door for a wonder, they just encourage donations. We went whilst the lunar landscape was in place which also helped keep the kids accoupied whilst we looked round. Lovely place!

Great architecture and history here. Mary Queen of Scots was buried here originally, but moved to Westminster Abbey in 1612; Katharine Queen of England is still buried here. There is a tour available to visit the 2nd floor at £6/pp, which I find a bit steep in price : don't know if there's any history given in the tour as I did not take it.

Really enjoyed our visit here - the architecture is brilliant to see up close, the attention to detail. The kid loved the depiction of the moon's surface within the cathedral - spent a lot of time pretending they were astronauts. Then there was also a Tear and Repair area which showcased textiles created by five women and you could add to this in your own way. We spent longer inside than we had intended to - a lovely peaceful place.

If you're visiting Peterborough I would highly recommend including this! Lots of very interesting history and some amazing architecture. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Entry is free but they ask for a donation. Toilets were clean and well equipped. If you like history or architecture it is a must!

A beautiful piece of architecture, sadly I didn’t get to go inside as a wedding was taking place. I will go again though. It’s always nice to see such an old building kept to a good standard.

I'm an engineer and build things for a living. But I am in awe of how cathedrals were built, how beautiful they are, and the fact that are still standing hundreds of years after they were first put up. I visited Peterborough Cathedral on a trip to get my passport renewed. It is an imposing gothic structure in a beautiful setting, and is well worth a visit. The cathedral runs guided tours, which are I would recommend as you learn a lot more than a casual walk around. If you don't have time for a tour, do spend a few quiet minutes taking in the atmosphere, and the acoustics, or maybe just thinking about it how it was built. The cathedral itself has a number of unique features, its architecture, its ceilings. and there being 2 queens buried there (Mary Queen of Scots, and Catherine of Arragon). I would definitely recommend a tour if you are visiting Peterborough.

We traveled from the United States and visited the Cathedral, wonderful. I highly recommend anyone that loves history and religion to stop in and take a tour. I had a private tour by Peter who was a wealth of knowledge. Can’t say enough, beautiful cathedral and history.

A lovely peaceful place to look around. There are some fine stained glass windows and interesting facts about the burial of Katherine of Aragon and Mary Queen of Scots - who knew the were interred there for a time?

Amazing cathedral. The work is interesting and it is pretty huge as well. I had a walk through the cathedral while there was a Star wars exhibition going on. So the Force was strong

A remarkable cathedral which is free to enter and features stunning historical architecture. It has beautiful stained glass windows and the entire cathedral is warm inside thanks to the large radiators located throughout the building that heat it up. I recommend anybody who is interested in this cathedral to visit it.

Stunning Cathedral according to their history it was rebuild by the Normans with a Gothic style and it’s an incredible building. 120 years in the making. The Cathedral and the town has some wonderful architecture but unfortunately the town looks a little run down. I still recommend visiting

The cathedral is just beautiful! The wood ceiling and decorations inspire faith. Mary Queen of Scots rests here.

One of the finest Norman cathedrals in England. Founded as a monastic community in 654 AD, located in the centre of Peterborough. Although there is no set charge to visit, donations are encouraged. Tours are available, but we decided to browse at leisure. Absolutely breathtaking inside, there are so many highlights, the tomb of Queen Katharine of Aragon and the original burial place of Mary Queen of Scots, the unique painted wooden 13th Century ceiling and the New Building' at the east end of the Cathedral was constructed around 1500. If you like churches and Cathedrals, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely historical cathedral you can explore. It includes the grave of Queen Catherine of Aragon and the site where Mary Queen of Scots was buried.

Magnificent Cathedral in the centre of Peterborough. A truly impressive Cathedral with significant history, with; The Hedda Stone, Katherine of Aragon's tomb, Mary Queen of Scots original burial place and a memorial to Edith Cavell. Originally an Abbey it was saved by the Abbot from ruin by Henry VIII. It is free to enter but a donation is welcome and well deserved. 😎👍👍👍

I did the architectural tour of the cathedral. If this interests you then I highly recommend it. Fantastic guides that had me hanging on their every word. The morning tour took in the ground floor and outside areas, followed by lunch in Becketts tearooms. Then the afternoon spent in the upper levels and roof. I absolutely loved seeing the bones of the building.

Wonderful tower tour with Brian and Maureen. Both so knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. This cathedral really is so beautiful and as a non local I had no idea just how beautiful it was. Definitely recommend the tour if you're not sacred if heights or small spaces!!

Amazing cathedral with a lovely walk around museum and display. Integral part of this city bustling with life and history. Optional small donation upon entry which is well worth doing ad it's clear to see what the money goes towards. I have also never quite seen stained glass windows quite like it before; extremely intricate designs from the original build. Would recommend a visit.

I have never been to Peterborough, did not know it was a city! Very easy parking a short walk (500 MTRS) from the cathedral. The impressive central square of the city has a European feal, looming the surrounding buildings are the upper elements of the magnificent cathedral. You approach through a super arch, and there it stands in all its medieval glory. No entanc fee, you can make a donation, then just wonder around. A Dinosaur exhibit was being installed the day we visited. Some of these photos are of St John the Baptist church.
