BEST SPANISH RESTAURANT IN LEEDS we’ve been in the search for the best Spanish restaurant in Leeds and we have found it. Food is right, feels spanish. We’ve been to other places and honestly... don’t even bother. These guys know how to do it. We ordered 5 dishes for 2 people and it was more than enough. Service was absolutely lovely (they talked in Spanish with us so were very pleased). Wine... amazing. We had White Rioja and was amazing. The glass is 175 ml so more than enough for the whole meal! Calamares: close your eyes and you will be in Malaga. Honestly, very well fried, crispy outside and nice and tender on the inside. Loved them. Chorizo al vino: so tasty... best served with bread!!!! Croquetas de jamón: absolutely delicious. 4 croquetas that were generous in size. The ham inside was sooooooo good. I am dreaming about them already. Patatas bravas: crispy and nice. Loved them. Berenjenas fritas: BEST DISH EVER!!!!! Our favourite from tonight. Please do ask for these!!!!! We had a sorbet for dessert and again, delicious. Price was very good, every penny is worth it. The plates are quite big and food is delicious. The place itself is just so beautiful. Honestly, you feel somewhere in Madrid on a rainy day. The atmosphere is charming. I can’t wait to come back. Gracias a La Taberna y a todo su equipo. Nos habéis hecho sentir como en casa y os estamos agradecidos. Volveremos!!!!!!!!!!

I would definitely say this basement Tapas restaurant has a good atmosphere, less commercial than some, albeit in a good, maybe even authentic way. The dishes were provided promptly and the quality of the food was of a high standard. Two of which we enjoyed in particular was the Aubergine fritters and Chorizo al Vino (Spicy sausage, red wine, onions). On this occasion we visited during the week and would consider a return perhaps on the weekend in the future.

Good but not great The food is good but isn’t 4,8 stars. My expectations of flavour and treatment were high when I saw this score online. That’s why I booked a table for my husband’s birthday. Nevertheless, it wasn’t what I was expecting. Plus, I felt that the staff is friendly only at their convenience. Given that my husband and I went to Leeds for his birthday and my present to him was the dinner, I called the restaurant to let them know that my flight had a delay and I might be 20 or 30 minutes late, and if it was possible to move the reservation from 7 to 7.30. The guy on the phone told me that it wasn’t possible because they were fully booked and that even if we arrive at 7.30, he will still need the table back at the same time as first booking. My husband and I rushed from the airport to make it on time and, to our surprise, they were not fully booked. Actually when we left the place there were still at least 5 free tables. Finally, when we were there having dinner, I secretly approached one of the guys of the staff and asked if they could send, as a surprise, a desert with a candle or something because of my husband’s birthday. They guy said that they couldn’t do candles given security and policy but that they could send “chupitos” or a dessert. However, at the end of the dinner they sent nothing as surprise, the waiter only asked if we wanted something else, when it wasn’t what we agreed.

Starting off with the restaurant vibe, which is great as it’s dimly lit with each table separated at a good distance so no one can hear you or you hear theirs. However, when it’s busy, it can get a bit loud, especially when everyone’s had one too many sangria. The services and friendliness from the waiters were amazing, nothing else to add. Now about the food. Generally, the food was amazing and perfectly seasoned, but if I am to be critical, I’d say the lamb was a bit under seasoned as it was a bit bland. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the flavour profile of the octopus, it was overly seasoned with chorizo flavour or smoked paprika, but if that’s what you like then it’d be suited for you. I highly recommend you get the aubergine fritta and steak, both absolutely delicious. The pricing is on the more expensive side, but the flavouring and quality justify it. If you’re a big eater like me, then expect a hefty bill because you’ll eat a lot! Overall, I highly recommend here.

Birthday celebrations, La Taberna was great. Beautifully atmospheric restaurant and the food was 10/10. Notable mention goes to the Aubergine fritters

A lovely place for lunch for something a bit different. The meat is delicious, cooked really well, and good sides. The homemade sauces they have are awesome. Very reasonable prices, lunchtime deals are a great option. Definitely one to check out!

Beautiful! The food the atmosphere the surroundings… had a meal there last night and was not disappointed. With drinks only came to £103 for 2 of us and we ate well! Actually we ordered too much. I loved that they recommended 3 plates per person but we like our food so did 4 😂 I won’t butcher the names but the steak, the chorizo and the chicken rolls were the main event for me. Manchengo cheese was so delicious and the jam!!! Oh em gee! Also first time having sangria in my life and it will continue to be a favourite. Thank you to the staff for a memorable evening. I was so full but will be coming back for the churros as I just couldn’t eat any more. Never thought I’d say that sentence ever! Oh and the sardines!!! I need to try the sardines!!! 😂 Can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

Lovely hidden restaurant, great atmosphere and a very welcoming team providing quick service. Food was tasty and fresh, full of flavour, but unfortunately very salty ! I recommend the octopus dish and aubergine fritters. This place is on the pricier side but a great meal out for an occasion. The recommended 5 plates were not quite filling enough for two people. A lovely evening spent here though, I would come back!

Booked here based on reviews, was stopping at The Chambers just round the corner so was within perfect walking distance. Quite possibly the best dining/tapas experience we've ever had, the service was quick and pleasant, the food was absolutely amazing, the Chicken roll being the main stand out from the 6 dishes we ordered. Lovely atmosphere as the tables aren't too crammed in like others and just overall a brilliant experience! Highly recommended.

I celebrated my PhD this evening in this gorgeous place. Well we had a marvelous evening and the place was certainly one of the reasons for this fruitful gathering. The stuff participated in a graceful way, the cooking was extremely good and my guests were extremely glad. We shall surely come back again for more events. Thank you very much.

Really great little place. Service was good and the tables are well spaced out. The food was good, especially the chorizo and red wine, but everything we ordered was well presented and well cooked. Certainly enjoyed our visit.

We’ve tried a few tapas places in Leeds and La Taberna is by far the best! Lovely cost interior, very intimate with good lighting and good music at just the right level. Service was excellent, staff were lovely and the food was outstanding. We stayed for a while after finishing our food to finish our wine and it was just a great atmosphere, we didn’t feel rushed to leave at all. Food came out at a good pace. Great veggie options too!

Tonight I decided to go out with my friends for drinks. After an hour we became so hungry and my friends told me about this place. As soon as we walked in there, the owner/manager came to welcome us. Very warm atmosphere, with authentic food. Food was amazing 10 out of 10;) if you’re looking for an unforgettable experience then you must try this place.😊

Ambience is really good and does have that real Spanish Tapas vibe. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Lots of space between tables which is good. We went on a weeknight. Food generally OK but was all served really quickly. Chorizo was quite sweet (maybe wine over reduced) and extremely hot (possibly warmed in microwave). Croquettes also tad on the brown side.

Everything was so amazing!! Planning to come back soon!!! We went for my boyfriends mums birthday and everything was perfect. We really wanted a place that can make it feel special and this place did exactly everything! The food the atmosphere and the service was all brilliant. We ordered nearly everything off the menu all to share and everything we found incredible. She was really happy and so was you ! Would recommend this place to anyone especially for a special event. Unfortunately didn't get pictures of the food because we was busy eating it all.

First time visit. Plenty of choice and the food tasted delicious. Took advice on the number of dishes to choose, 3 each. Mix of vegetarian, meat and fish options. My only negative comment would be for a reasonable quiet Saturday lunch the music was a little loud. Other than that, a great Tapas restaurant is a stones throw from the train station.

Iron steak is beautiful and brilliant that you have to try. If you expect crispy bread with tomato on top then you have to lower your expectations here. The bread is truly in British. The garlic prawn is okay, normal range. The glass of red wine is good.

As far as Leeds' lunch spots go, this is perfect for business or casual meets. Caracas keeps things simple but serves up heaps of flavour in their perfectly grilled meats. Portion sizes are great - as someone with a big appetite, I regularly find myself having to order two mains out, but not here. Always leave full (or even with some leftover for later in the day!). Can't recommend the steak enough, seasoned to perfection and so tender. Combined with the pork sausage, you won't be disappointed! Must add that the service is also really good - keep an eye on you, but don't intrude, so no awkward questions when you have a mouthful.

Visited la taberna for an early valentine's dinner on Saturday with my partner and we could not rate our experience enough, the service was absolutely fantastic, the wine was perfection and the food was out of this world, it is very hard to find authentic Spanish cuisine done to such a high standard. If I could I would have given 6+ stars for the overall experience. Can't wait to visit again and would definitely be taking my Spanish family members to experience such a warm, welcoming and delightful taste sensation. Many thanks to all the staff members that were on shift that day especially to the front of house staff, informative, pleasant and patient. Muchas Gracias

After moving to Leeds form a small town, this place has been recommended to us. What can I say? Lovely, delicious food, large dishes and it hasn't been too expensive either. This is definitely the best restaurant for us.

Not a huge selection but what they do have is very good. Portions are quite large and the service was quick. Would've liked to have seen a few veggie options.

We had such an enjoyable dinner here - the squid was incredible. The wait staff made everything feel safe- tables were spaced well. And it was all still very cheerful. A highlight of our stay in Leeds. Awesome little hidden gem down some steps. Incredibly tasty food. Best thing is it’s like taking a mini break to Caracas in your lunch break.

Three of us had a meal here the other night after recommendations and we were really blown away by both the excellent quality and service the place had to offer. Traditional dishes with excellent flavours. Will look forward to the next visit and highly recommend it as the best tapas in Leeds.

Chilled out place. The best chicken ever! The beef, chicken and sausage with fries were unbelievable. The homemade sauces were incredible and went down well with a few beers and cocktails. The BBQ meat is simply amazing and this place is definitely worth going out of your way to visit. You seriously have to try the chicken, its awesome.
