First of all I don't know why there are so much 5 stars?? Anyways I went inside to eat in and first impressions the tables and chairs were dirty, the tables were wooden so it would stain even more and the floor boards were peeling off, the window sides had a bit of mould and dust, the decor? There was none. Uncomfortable to sit in and very small sitting area, they need to deep clean more. The food was okay the chicken was nice and soft tho and the food pricing was good to be fair, but after I ate I had a bit of a stomachache which never happens to me, and the rice was soggy and I don't think most of the food was fresh because I saw the person working there put food in the MICROWAVE and I heard the microwave *ting* multiple times. Customer service? There is none tbh If your thinking to sit in there and eat... just don't, get the food for takeout, but then again the food isn't all that Sorry to say first time coming here and it will be the last. They need to improve on the hygiene and eating in area A TON. Also in the other reviews I see cleaner tables and steel forks and tissue and plates... I did not get that NONE of those, just got a takeout box and PLASTIC fork and spoon and no tissue.

came when the food was finishing but still very tasty. Had soup and a meal. Not a pretty place (covid?) and clearly meant to be takeaway now rather than eat-in, but the value for money can't be beaten! Definitely will pop by again for more food.

Most probably one of the best Caribbean spots in England when it comes to authenticity. Having travelled to most the major cities to try Caribbean food i find myself continually drawn back to Maureen’s. The jerk is always fresh and moist and the curries thick wnd luxurious like I’m used to back home. To top it all off they have kept prices very affordable and the quality high.

Came in today and got the small jerk chicken with peas and rice and two fried dumplings. Food was delicious and you get this sauce like gravy to accompany the chicken and chicken was not dry. Alot of the carribean places many foods get sold out such as patties or curry mutton etc. Food is halal (as researched and seen on just eat advertised as halal) and it would be great if Maureen's can promote that so for those who would like to taste her food and taste a different cuisine can freely do so (not that I'm saying you can't anyhow). A halal sticker on her shop front will make it alot more accessible for people who can just walk in knowing its halal. Food is on point when coming to the chicken. Will be coming to try something else in coming days. Only downside is I don't know if they will have certain dishes as they sell out. Thanks guys Much appreciate your service. My wife and I traveled 45 mins to get are meals,we bought 2x mutton soup we got one dumpling between us more bones than the bone collectors ,meat with no seasoning and carrots galore. We also got bought a oxtail with rice x2 no veg ? had better from Maureen’s Leeds in the past, please reintroduced the standards that brought us to your establishment Kitchen needs a deep clean and decor needs a lick of paint forget the flag bright colours always look clean.

Traditional West Indian dishes when available due to the success sometimes not all of the menu due to being sold out. Serving staff could be a bit more cheerful like the the chefs on the kitchen.

I've tried a few Carribean cuisines, but Maureen's is one of, if not the best, out of them all. The food is always on point. Most importantly, for me, they serve Halal chicken. I tend to pop by every so often during lunch times whilst at work.

Shocked rice cooked to perfection mac and cheese sad cheese on top pasta underneath no taste let down coleslaw bland no taste dumplings re fried not very nice at al thick layer of oil than soft dumpling inside ok I suppose chicken more bones than chicken I'm sad because last time I got food from here I could not be happier today I'm a very sad customer 😢 we ordered of just eat I was looking so forward to the meal 😢 will I order again I'll have to yhink about that

The food at Maureen's is always fantastic. It's definitely the best Caribbean food in Yorkshire. I travel from Chesterfield to Leeds because the food is so good. The staff are very friendly also.

I moved away from Leeds a few months ago and not a day goes by where I do not miss their food. Whenever I return to Leeds in the future, Maureen's will be my first stop. Unbelievable food.

5 stars does not do Maureen’s food justice. By far the best jerk chicken I have ever had, I can not recommend this spot enough.

First time I have had this and must say absolutely beautiful tasting food. Had jerk chicken rice and beans and macaroni. Too much in 1 portion for me saving the rest till later. The gravy was spicy but really lifted the dish. Definitely would get again
