Held a belated wedding party here and was disappointed and wish we’d had booked with a different venue. Our party was an evening booking but we also covered the cost of the day booking of the room from 1pm so our event decorator could set up. We arrived at 2pm and the room was dirty with breakfast things still remaining. There wasn’t any staff around and when we spoke to the receptionist she was unsure of what was happening. A member of staff did eventually come in to help me move things away but she said she wasn’t sure what had happened and it wasn’t her usual job. Clearing away dirty tables myself wasn’t what I had in mind for the day of my party, especially when we had paid extra to have the room ready. We booked the resident DJ and was told he would contact us a week prior to our party to discuss music choice and any song requests which didn’t happen, I ended up managing to speak to him 2 hours before our party was due to start (and this was only because I had to speak to several people and chase for this myself) he said he wasn’t told to contact me, so this was poor communication from the hotel. Luckily our event decorator made the room look nice in the end as was apprehensive and stressed when I first arrived at the state of the room…. I asked for a refund of the early room charge that we paid as I found that to be a fair request as the room wasn’t ready and believe that because our party was on the evening they didn’t feel the need to have the room ready early, but if I’m paying for a service then I expect it! And if it’s not provided then a refund would be fair. They’re now ignoring my emails which I find to be unprofessional. Overall I wouldn’t book a party here, it’s below average and there are other places that you could get better service for the same price.

The hotel's location was in an ideal place for our visit to the concert. The room bathroom extractor was loud when you switched the light on and the hair dryer did not work. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good and I would stay there again.

Miserable moody female bar worker. Looks like she doesn't even want to be there. I dont usually leave reviews but its the third time stopping in this hotel and I've never felt so unwelcomed me and my friend ended up leaving bar and going back to the room. Asked for a coffee and told us in a cant be bothered way that it was broke my friend felt she was only saying that because she couldnt be bothered to go make it I agree. Service with a moody miserable face I would say maybe she was having a bad day but 3 times I've stayed now and shes moody and unwelcoming and looks like she wants to not be there. The male bar worker seemed manager material very welcoming I forgot to ask for his name so I could leave it here. Think the ladies name began with an R did ask but can't remember. Other than that your welcome desk had a very lovely lady on there with smile and the cleaners were very nice in the morning giving us an extra towel for my hair. Beds are comfy and clean. So my advice to customers is if you have no intention in going to bar your stay will be fine if you go to the bar expect a moody miserable face.

Stayed here for tribute night with party of 7. Lady on check in desk was lovely very helpful. Room ok but very dated. Was clean. Service for food was shocking. Waited an hour between starters and main. Starter was extremely small portion and very unusual to have horseradish sauce with smoked salmon. Not enough bar staff waiting upto half an hour to be served each time at bar. Some staff needed more training as not very confident in what they were doing. Breakfast OK but not very warm.

I've stayed in plenty of budget hotels, what I do expect from them is basic levels of cleanliness. The hotel is very dated as are the rooms but nicely presented. The check in and out was a breeze. The location is pretty good for getting to Birmingham. Easy to find and free parking, and hot water on demand. That's where the good basics stop... I was laying in bed on the first night after a fairly long drive and noticed the sheet had small hairs all over it. I assume this was dog hairs since it is pet friendly. It was late so we turned the sheet over and that also had some marks on it. There's no air con, and you can't seem to control the radiator temperature. The bathroom was somewhat clean, but very outdated and few evidence of mould growth in the grout etc. The walls are paper thin but luckily it was quiet. You get free internet or pay to upgrade, forget streaming on the free internet as it is very poor. Our room wasn't cleaned, not a problem, but I'm not sure how that side of things works and we weren't informed. The tea and coffee facilities were stored in a cupboard so we didn't find it until the 2nd day. We had a voucher and I paid to upgrade it to a 'better place' but wish I hadn't. The review would probably be more favourable had the bed not been covered in dog hairs..

Very basic for what it is. Old-school building, refurbished as a hotel, but the age is visible when walking through the corridors. Was very pricey for what you get, but that was mainly due to the busy period we booked. Staff are nice, and it does the job and a hotel room to sleep in. Haven't had breakfast so can't say much on that. Very monotone experience

Used for my daughter’s christening and wished I’d used another venue. The staff were rude and the manager on duty was completely useless. I had a guest with coeliac and this was dealt with very poorly. Initially the manager brought out the wrong plate as he had confused our event with another that day, I told him it wasn’t for us but he didn’t understand and kept insisting that I was wrong. In the end the receptionist had to come and explain to him that he was wrong. They had stated that they could cater for dietary requirements but what was given was pathetic and basically just salad, despite me paying full price for the meal. We had to repeatedly ask for a better sandwich and took them over an hour to produce anything which was dry. We were also very disappointed with the buffet, guests commented that the bread was stale. We complained about the buffet and staff attitude and the manager refused to deal with the complaint that day and said to send an email. I sent a complaint after the event and tried chasing it by email and phone a couple of times and they completely ignored me. Overpriced for the quality and service provided. Do not recommend.

Had a lovely time there, my friend's daughter got married, when I first got there, they did everything to help me, jaz, behind the counter, helped me when I needed to find location to change, helped when I hurt my foot, I'm really thankful. Lovely staff, and was very busy, very spacious as well, I do recommend it, but, the only downfall was, when we had our private function room, they didn't serve pints, only shorts and bottle drinks.. But, I still enjoyed the time there

Rooms and staff are great and always someone on reception no matter what time. Not the best area for Vodafone service.. I've tried a few different rooms..but I use WiFi calling or whatsapp when using hotel and seems to work ok.Not tried hotel food as I'm only usually one or 2 nights and really enjoy Special spices across road

Rooms where very cold, hotel looks a little dated in certain areas. Not very disabled friendly in the sense that the disabled room is a fair distance to walk to where you are the opposite side of the hotel. Lots of stairs too. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Bar and Reception Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms and bathroom dated. Self Service Breakfast cold, older male staff member was clearing away table while we were still eating making us feel very uncomfortable.

I liked it a lot. Good cheap clean hotel with polite staff. It's a little out of town so be aware you will need buses, taxis, etc.

Booked a tribute night package, the hotel room was spacious and appeared clean, the only downside was the heating, the radiators didn't get very warm and the thermostats on them didn't seem to work. The restaurant manager was most helpful moving us to a table on the lower floor as my husband has difficulty walking. The food was excellent and the show ( The Jersey Boys) were fantastic. We had a lovely night for our anniversary, a great night's sleep and a lovely cooked breakfast the following morning. Our third time here and we'll definitely be returning.

Rooms ok. It's a little dated however hotel offers free parking. Tip: get a room on the upper level as there is not ventilation in the rooms. Windows can be open on lower rooms however it leads to a walkway.

Room had been updated since my last visit, several years ago, but the bathroom cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Found a silverfish on the wall, and the bath looked years old and like it had not been properly cleaned in a month. Central heating didn't work well enough to heat the room, and there was a small oil heater, which had a set of legs missing.

Came up for a few days to visit my daughter, third cheaper than Travelodge,, was not disappointed,,,staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful,,, yes rooms are a bit aged but that didn't take away anything from the experience of staying here,,,, I look forward to another stay here soon 10 out of 10 👍

Lovely little hotel. We only stayed the night as a family of 5. Didn't use many of the facilities but they have a bar and by the looks of it they have weekend entertainment.

Stayed for one night when going to the Commonwealth Games. Staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The room was large and comfortable and the breakfast plentiful and delicious.

Reception was ok , room 236 was small doubt dates with a whole in the cieling towels had what I can only hope was a rust stain on. And the brilliant white bed sheets had some stains, rooms dates very i.e 1970 and the bathroom was ok but defo seen better. On checking out wasn't asked how my stay was as the reception was busy on the phon. Would I stay again no.

This is a tired old hotel. Needs major refurbishment. We paid 4x tariff because of commonwealth games. Breakfast was basic e.g. just sluced bread, no baked rolls, no value for money e.g. , no shampoos, conditioners etc in bathroom. Poor cleaning. Receptionists were very good. Beds okay. Underwhelmed.

Horrid. The rooms were absolutely disgusting. The shower curtain had a yellow mark on it, the wall had hair - like it hadn’t been cleaned. The towels had yellow marks too. The only thing good was the guy at check-in who was friendly. The rooms are *nothing* like the pictures. Please book a Travelodge instead of this disgusting place. At least Travelodge’s are clean in comparison to this. I’m a frequent traveller and had to go for this. I made a mistake.

Rooms spacious and clean, staff lovely and helpful, breakfast was excellent. Only downside was lack of ale choice at the bar and we couldnt turn our heating down. Other than that a really good hotel

Great place to stay , and great price with breakfast included ,very close to family that we where visiting from a Friday till monday then going to Cornwall for 5 days then back here for another weekend. Check in was good they even let us rebook the same room and got earlier check in. Was surprised how quiet the hotel was especially for weekend stays. To be honest I read some reviews that made me think a little ,but the things some of them said where just nit picking. Yes it's got a few years wear and tear but there are signs of freshening up, bedroom was large and clean, just the bed a tad to hard for me, but not a problem as I travel with a single mattress topper so grate nights sleep. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and the staff very friendly. Would definitely stay agin

OK so booking in was fine. The walk to my room down the corridor was dreadful poor decoration and what looked like rotten wood. Walk into my room and was surprised how good it was very clean and nicely decorated with a large bathroom. Bar was well stocked and a pleasant atmosphere the breakfast in the morning was first class all in in great value for
