I visited Shiki after reading the exceptional reviews, expecting to have an amazing experience and I was extremely shocked by the disappointment to the point I was checking google maps to be sure I was at the right place. Fish quality: horrible with faul taste, portion sizes: tiniest, prices: high for the quality and size... I don't know if my visit was exceptionally unlucky (I was there on Valentine's day) or if this is their normal. I wouldn't go back though and feel so sad saying that being a sushi lover with high expectations for the restaurant. Honorable mention: the benches are not comfy to sit on

The food was great. One of the places to look for authentic Japanese food. 👍🏼 Would love to come back again but the service isn't that too great. Some of the Asian staff are rude to us fellow Asians, that's really disappointing. Booked an appointment but keeps on rushing us to finish our food in just less than an hour. 👎🏻

We've always struggled to find authentic tasting Japanese food in the UK but this place really hit the spot! We were greeted by a super friendly member of staff and seated in a room with windows open along one side to let lots of nice fresh air in. The solid wood benches do become uncomfortable after a short while though, something that may be worth considering if you have a disability or movement issues. The lunch menu caters for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans, with plenty of options available should you want to mix and match things. We both ordered the bento box options. I'm allergic to peanuts and even though we were told there were no peanuts on the premises a note about it was added to my order anyway, which was a very nice touch. When the food arrived it was fresh and well presented, with plenty of variety. Both myself and my wife commented on how it took us right back to being in Japan, especially the miso soup and the pickles. Everything was well cooked and full of flavour, the sashimi being a particular highlight of mine. Lunch for 2 people including drinks cost £45 which I feel is very good for the quality of the food and the service you get. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Wow!!! Simply wow! Everything about my visit here was amazing. The food itself was delicious and incredibly good value for money, we couldn’t believe how much we ate and how little the bill was! Also a huge shout out to the fantastic serving team who looked after us and also the amazing kitchen staff. They really went above and beyond and made us feel incredibly welcomed and appreciated throughout our visit. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who love Japanese food! 🍣

We were looking for Japanese for our evening meal. Found Shiki on Google. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very tasty and was served quickly. Quite a good selection of vegetarian food and quite an extensive menu. We can really recommend this place.

What a wonderful restaurant! Food was delicious and beautifully presented, staff were amazing and all very reasonably priced! Won’t be able to eat anymore sushi for at least a year!

The food at this Shiki was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful and they couldn't have been more accommodating with their recommendations. The outside seating was great, with a view great view of Tombland. If you like sushi, I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Fresh and delicious fish. Crispy tempura. Amazing bento set. I really like their omakase sushi set. Shiki is a must try if you love Japanese food.

A great authentic Japanese restaurant. The food was delicious (Cromer crab sushi in particular) and service very attentive. All the dishes we tried (11 in total between 3 of us) were tasty with fresh ingredients. Loved the simple Japanese style calm decor also. Would definitely come back again.

Shiki is the best sushi place in Norwich. I love the cosy vibes and staff are full of knowledge about the menu aswell. They are always helpful and attentive. Sashimi platter,tempura prawn rolls and salmon gunkan. I also had to drink plum saké recommended by the server who was amazing. Thank you so much.

Shiki was an incredible experience! While it may be on the pricier side, the quality of their sushi surpasses any other sushi restaurant I've been to. Dining with a party of three, we opted for the bento boxes, which were not only generous in size but also came with a delicious miso soup to kick things off. The taste was exceptional, and the staff's politeness and attentiveness, especially given that we hadn't made a reservation and decided to dine on a whim, made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

A really good experience. The food was excellent, the sushi in particular was a highlight. The service was friendly and efficient. The tables are are arranged giving a decent atmosphere and it was also good value.

Shiki was terrific. The food was excellent as was the service. The Bento box with steak was a lot of food and very unique. The appetizer was jellyfish of all things (not a fan, but interesting). Highly recommend.

Shiki is about as authentic as you can get. When I was young, I was fortunate enough to spend a few months in Japan - and the taste of the miso soup transported me back to Osaka (late 90s). The restaurant has a great aesthetic and is opposite the cathedral - It’s definitely worth the experience, in my view (I’ve been a few times and each time was great!)

Exquisite sushi at ridiculously reasonable prices. I went there for lunch and the "on the board" sushi special with 6 pieces of nigiri, 4 rolls, and a bowl of miso soup cost me only £12. It was the best sushi I have had in a while and certainly the best sushi I ever had at that price point. There was bit of a wait to get the food (20-30 minutes) but the food is good it was absolutely worth it.

The food is absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and well-cooked. The Japanese couple who run the place are incredibly friendly and have been open for an impressive 19 years. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to visit again when I‘m back to Norwich!

Shun and his team have consistently delivered great food at a reasonable price for years. We’ve been regular customers year in and out. Food is delicious and consistently good. Having been lucky enough to visit Japan, Shiki is the most authentic Japanese restaurant we’ve eaten in in the uk.

I've been here twice now for my anniversary and loved it both times. Our server was lovely, knowledgeable and very cool. They took good care of us :) I felt like a lot of thought was put into the order our food came out even though we said we didn't have a preference. I didn't expect this because it's apparently "izakaya" style now, but it instead felt very thoughtful. We got all our fried vegetable dishes along with a salad and gyoza, then fried chicken with rice with miso soup, then sushi, then chicken skewers to finish off the meal. It all arrived very quickly too, right after finishing our previous plates. The food was delicious, my favourite was the fried chicken and the mooli sushi roll which had a great crunch and sourness. It made me pick up some from a supermarket for the first time so I can add it to my own dishes! It's not exactly an issue but the upstairs isn't as cosy, I much prefer being downstairs. All in all it was great! I can't afford to eat here often but for special occasions it's a lovely treat ❤

The Miso soup and chicken katsu donburi were great, and the beef yakisoba was ok. The teriyaki chicken uramaki and the salmon onigiri were pretty tasteless… could be better. Service was great.

Good sushi. Good price. Quality has no doubt. But the kitchen is not very fast. The Salmon was still frozen on the table

I couldn't recommend Shiki enough. The staff were extremely receptive of our needs, and were able to answer all the questions we had with no problem, which made ordering an absolute breeze. We both have dietary restrictions, and felt confident when ordering the food. The food was brilliant. We ordered an array of sushi, all of which was elegantly presented, and might just be the best I've had in years. We stayed a little later than others who were dining around us, meaning we were the only ones left in that room, although the restaurant was still open. At no point did we feel rushed to finish up, and the staff regularly checked if we needed anything in an unobtrusive way. Whilst it isn't cheap, the food and overall dining experience at Shiki was fantastic, and I'd thoroughly recommend the restaurant to anyone.

We visit Shiki 2-3 times a year for a Sushi lovers for 2:) Its quite pricey but I don't mind paying for a quality. What I am missing is Miso soup - which was served with this dish before and now it's not. We also have had recently Green Tea Tiramisu - its' just wow:) honestly. We will be back in Easter for another lot:)
