Disappointing breakfast at Barolo! The coffee was nice, food was edible, the staff were pleasant, and the place is clean. However, that’s where the positive part of our visit ends… it was £8.50 for a small slice of sourdough cut into two with a tiny amount of avocado smushed on them with two cold poached eggs on top served on a wooden plate that was like an old chopping board. The cooked breakfast was £10 with one horrible sausage, cold eggs - it should have been half the price for what was served. The ‘sourdough toast’ was just plain white toast which was cold with ice cold butter portions which were hard to spread- we were not told of the substitution from sourdough either. We did eat all the food as we were hungry, but we did inform the staff at the end and they did nothing - don’t even know if they told the kitchen. I would not recommend this venue, sadly. The french restaurant up the road is much better. Shame, as the decor is nice and it’s close to Glasgow Central station.

Italian restaurant in Glasgow City centre, about a 2 minute walk from Glasgow Central Station. The food is OK. Had three courses. Went for the Mussels and Calamari to start. Mussels came with white wine and lemon sauce. Calamari with a garlic mayo dip. For mains we both went with pasta. MAFALDE ROSSE which was spicy Nduja sausage. Linguine pasta which was served with a king Prawn, mussels and scallops. For dessert we had a tiramisu to share.

We ate here for my niece's 40th Birthday. Lovely food and welcome. For me, the best thing was the waitress we had, Tara, she was attentive, fun, thoughtful and very friendly. She's a real asset to Barolo.

First time here. Venue is nice. Food was ok, but disappointed at the lack of veggie options. Not able to change ingredients. Although what I had was tasty. Reason I am giving two stars because I ordered a cocktail, the waitress came back and said there was no triple sec left! I then said well that means over half of your cocktails aren’t available then? She then looked surprised and went away to check. Surprisingly all of a sudden they did have triple sec! How terrible, lying to customers. Not sure why the restaurant did that! Pretty awful! Didn’t feel very comfortable eating there, the fact that I’m giving them my money and they lie to you. Bit weird! Won’t be back!

The food is very good but the prices are a bit high for what is offered. The beer selection at their outdoor seating area is really poor, with the only option being a very mediocre and flat Menabrea. The automatic "discretionary" tip is also cheeky - if and how much I tip should be up to me, not an awkwardness-inducing automatic thing. This place definitely has potential, but it needs improvement.

Service and food is really amazing. Staff are so attentive and lovely. We were gifted the 4 course lunch menu from Itison as a Christmas present and the choice was great and portion sizes were generous. We took our 13 year old daughter with us who got the lunchtime deal. Really good value for money! If you visit please try the frozen limoncello Spritz...it was unbelievable! The only constructive criticism is that the restaurant was a little cold. It was exceptionally cold outside however and I think that didn't help on the day we visited. We will definitely be back with the family. Thank you all for a lovely afternoon Team Barolo x

Beautiful food. Pouring rain as we left railway station had us looking for quick bite. So pleased that we found this place. Very welcoming with friendly staff that couldn't be more helpful ended up having two lovely courses. Desserts were wonderful. Would recommend a visit.

The service was okay, but they served the secondo at the same time as the main, which is not how it‘s supposed to be done. The atmosphere was acceptable, but way too cold and it was too loud. The food was unacceptable. Beautiful presentation but drenched in sauces and the tuna steak was so salty I could barely eat it. Because it was so expensive I tried scraping off the salt at the top and ate it anyways, but now it‘s been 3hrs and I‘m back at the hotel and have drank 2 whole bottles of water and my mouth is still salty. I complained to the server, she apologized but didnt do anything about it. Their Spritz drinks tasted of syrup instead of Prosecco. I would not recommend this restaurant and will never go back. 146£ (2 people) wasted.

Gorgeous food, beautiful surroundings, brilliant service. Just the right amount of attention from waiting staff, who were also very accommodating to my elderly parents. Also, they have the best Tiramisu. Delicious. :-)

Had the loveliest meal with my husband tonight on a very rate childfree evening. We both couldn’t recommend it enough and it’s been the best Italian we have tried for a long time. Will definitely be back

After a bad experience to another place, me and my Italian family we founded this beautiful restaurant in city centre. With no reservation we had a table. The people were very nice and gentle. We had 2 pizza, 1 cuoppo, 1 turkey and few drinks. Everything was delicious and with great prices. Pizza was honestly the best I had so far (yes better than Paesano). We will be back.

We were 5 adults (3 of which had the set menu!) Total bill £168, myself and my husband ate off the main menu and had starters and main (both pizza), we had garlic bread for the table, it was delicious, we should have doubled up on this, the burrata with nduja was not enjoyable at all, my husband's king prawns were nice, the carbonara lasagne was ok, the tiramisu was lovely, it was served in a little jug - very cute! Pizzas were ok, I've definitely had much better elsewhere. Staff were pleasant and welcoming but didn't seem to convey requests to the kitchen/bar or they were ignored, it was only two small requests, no biggie, also the ice cream ordered by my sons came wrong but we were keen to finish up, so just left it! It's a nice restaurant and staff are lovely enough but I don't think we'll be back to be honest.

Didn't hold out much hope of getting in as it was Valentine's night and we hadn't booked, but they found us a table and even better we weren't stuck with a set menu ,they gave us a choice of a la carte too. The staff were really pleasant and efficient, the prices were reasonable and the food was lovely. Really enjoyed our evening.

The staff are lovely great service food presentation was nice but unfortunately the food wasn't great! Also I did not see anything about a discretionary 10% gratuity charge! so ended up tipping and noticed when we came home.... very sneaky! for that reason we wont be back.

Came here for dinner and it was great! Had the mozzarella fritter to start which was so fresh and yummy. Then the burrata and truffle tortellini which was the nicest pasta I have had in a long time! Then finished with the panna cotta which was good. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were attentive and polite. Great food and great service! Would return.

One of my favorite restaurants in Glasgow! The food is amazing and the staff is friendly. The service is also fast, you don't have to wait long for your order. They were very flexible with any special requests we had regarding our order. I am absolutely in love with their truffle pasta, I went back to this place 2 times already just to have it again! Also, their Bruschetta is a dreaaam. The best one I've ever had. ✨️ would definitely recommend this restaurant to any italian food lovers!

My friend and I went for breakfast here and it was delicious! The staff were very friendly and accommodating from the minute we arrived. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful morning with our coffees and we had the eggs royale, which was cooked to perfection in my opinion I had no faults! If you are looking for an affordable and delicious place for breakfast I would highly recommend this place. I will likely be back to try their other menus too! Thanks for the great experience Barolo!

Nice restaurant located in the centre of Glasgow. Food, drinks and service were all very good.

  • 2/5 Mike B. 5 months ago on Google
Poached eggs were solid in both mine and my partner's meals, meaning my full Scottish breakfast was incredibly dry, and her eggs benedict was disappointing. See the pic for proof. We waited so long for our second coffee to come that we got up and asked for it to be cancelled. We also got the bill at the same time. Service was painfully slow, and we saw many coffees on the side that had been prepared but not served to customers. Unsure if they were short staffed, but the guy we told wasn't so bothered. We still end up somehow paying £33 for two breakfasts, two drinks and some toast. Not cheap. Don't think we'll be back.

Brilliant, flavoursome food with great staff. My husband and I visited for the “soft opening” of the Barolo Grill post Covid lockdown. The food and service was amazing. It has a real family run kind of feel, where the staff were attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious and some of the best Italian food in Glasgow. I had the burrata, and pumpkin ravioli, and I really recommend both. Well worth a visit.

Great restaurant! We visited with a friend and we had a great experience. First of all staff was great, that gives you instantly a good vibe. Food wise we tried a couple of starters and two pasta dishes. All were really tasty and fresh. Pasta is handmade so prepare yourselves for a great taste. The menu has many options from starters, pasta, pizza and meat. Prices are normal for the location and the service you get. Highly recommended!

I was short of time. A very efficient waiter asked the chef for me how long it would take to make my chosen dish. The answer was 14 minutes. I think it may have taken 17 minutes (!) but it was cooked to perfection : excellent quality Perthshire lamb with garlic infused greens. I asked them to give me roast potatoes instead of mash, which was done without a murmur. Waiter and manageress checked I had everything I needed and was happy with it. The only bad thing was the tap water - one sip was enough! Fortunately I also had a great glass of Primitivo. Left very happy and in good time for my train. I will be back!

I have known Mario for 35 years, he has worked tirelessly to develop a chain of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Barolo Grill is a premier restaurant in Glasgow city centre. For someone to post a criticism that there was no macaroni cheese on the menu is ludicrous, maybe he would be more satisfied in Gregg's round the corner. Barolo Grill is first class in every respect, in my opinion, from the waiting staff to the chefs in the kitchen we really can't wait for it to reopen!

My husband and I had a fantastic meal here yesterday. We decided to eat here as we were walking by and it looks good. The menu has variety and we both had multiple dishes that we were interested in in each section. In the end, we shared the antipasto appetiser, he has a the tortelloni and I had the duck. Everything was well-seasoned, and presented nicely.
