My favourite beach for Sandcastle building.... Nice gradual slope, so safe for paddling and swimming. Cafe serves better coffee then most seaside offerings Car park is a day fee, but it's reasonable and you can book in advance which is great on a sunny bank holiday. Dog friendly overall, but observe the areas that say no dogs (varies according to time of year). There are decent toilet facilities available and outdoor showers to get the sand off before you head home.

Parking is arranged in advance via justpark.com. Once the car park slots are full they no longer accept bookings. You can drive with confidence knowing you have a car space 5-mins walk from the beach. On arrival the parking barrier CCTV read your car license plate and the barrier rises. So efficient and stress free. Beach is perfect. The length of the beach is vast as is the depth from the sand banks to the water. When the tide is out. It is out out. Leaving tons of space for games on the beach. Facilities are great. Toilets and outdoor showers. Indoor restaurant with patio. Outdoor takeaway with picnic benches. Safety signs clearly inform the public to be aware of the risks of the water. There is a lifeguard station, and regular patrolling up and down the waterline on the beach buggies for emergency rescues. The water is cold and the undercurrent strength can surprise visitors as the surface can look calm. Look on YouTube for how to spot it water is safe to enter before your visit. Top tips! The wind and the sand blowing is constant. Bring a beach umbrella or windbreaker. Also, bring a hoodie and warm clothing even during a heatwave. Sky is clear, UV rating is high but if the wind is strong windchill factor makes it feel a lot colder. And finally bring baby powder to help remove sand before getting into your car.

A beautiful day out even if it was windy and very chilly! Our visit was in winter and while not busy busy there where quite a few people out. I am not sure if dog are allowed on the beach in summer but they are in winter as we and others enjoyed a walk along the sea with our furry friends. There is a path at the top for when the tide is in, I can imagine this beach would be even more beautiful and busy in the summer. Parking lot had toilet facilities.

A nice sea side area with Sandy beach and low water depth. Ideal for kids and families. Be careful about the tide as it can be high tide very fast. £9 parking fee charged at entry for the duration of stay. Quite good facilities. Toilets were clean. Shower available outside the Toilet. Various other places water supply tap’s were there for wash up. Clean water. There are food shops inside the parking area but could be very busy during summer. Sand very fine so keep some sunglasses on to protect eyes during windy day. Lifeguard stays up to evening. Would recommend a visit.

Very nice beach, sandy, the coast is very shallow so can swim out very far. But also walk very far when the tide is low. Long stretch of coast. Its quite busy when weather gets hot. Car park close by. Only down point is there are only 2 bars and cafe next to beach/Car park. So make sure bring own picnic and pick up the rubbish 🗑

Great beach, decent available parking with security patrols and automated ANPR to allow you straight into the beach. It really doesn't matter where you park here there are facilities only a few steps away wherever you end up. On site cafe, ice creams, shop etc. The lifeguards are really helpful and are always out patrolling the beach and giving updates and safety announcements. The beach can get quite busy on occasion and it may start to get a little invasive when people pitch down directly beside you when there's an entire beach, but, not much you can do about it. The scenery is great, the beach is shallow for a long way out and is pretty friendly for kids when the tide is in. Stay between the safety flags and take normal safety precautions and with the lifeguards on hand it should be fine. A short walk around to the sailing club there is a good crabbing pool, some smoked bacon in a trap and you'll almost always pull something in. Great fun for the kids. My wife's favourite beach.

A super setting and excellent beach with ample facilities including 2XS Wind Surfing Club. It was superb dry weather to enjoy with the grandkids one Tuesday at the end of August Bank Holiday with sun shining off and on. There is ample car parking facility, a cafe and restaurant on site and life guard on the beach.

A beautiful beach perfect for all ages. There are sand dunes which the little ones love playing on and also provide a little protection from the wind. Gorgeous soft sand which is very rare on this part of the south coast. We visited on a windy day and the waves were great fun. There’s a water sports rental shop so you don’t have to bring equipment with you. The facilities are great. Toilets are clean and there’s a cafe and shop nearby. Food & drink prices are very reasonable. £6.50 for a burger. The car park is huge but a lot of it is grassy/sandy and quite bumpy so I guess it could be muddy during certain times. We booked parking in advance and it’s pretty reasonably priced at not much over £1/hour. Will definitely be visiting again during our trips to see parents in Worthing.

Parking is £9 per day, you might have to book in advance on busy day. There is a burger shop, a beach shop that sell cover and toys for kids. For the beach itself, plenty of sand, very flat surface so great for toddler and little kids to run around. The water is warmer than other part of UK which is nice. Beach hut can also be privately rented for around £50 - 70 a day. All in all a really nice sandy beach that is very family friendly, highly recommended.

Every year we meet up with the wider family (8 adults 5 kids) and spend the whole day at West Wittering Beach & it’s absolutely stunning. We pre-book car parking well in advance. Although changes have been made to the car park where you can now pay on the day, you save 25% in advance via the Just Park Website. Windbreakers, Bucket, Spade, Kite, Camping Chairs & Picnic Food are a standard to bring! Plenty of sand castles and holes dug by many a kids around, some were quite impressive. The sea is itself is fairly shallow at points particularly when the tide goes out which is great for the kids to splash away, pick up sea shells and creates a good flat surface for playing ball games on. Great to walk along the beach when the sun starts to set. Capture some great photos with the family! We love it here and certainly carry on our tradition! Highly recommend a visit if you have not been before!

Love this beach, water is clean and sand looks clean most of the place. Due to the large size of beach, even crowded time, it did not look that crowded, which was great. Very shallow most of the area so water is pretty much safe with little kids. But because of the vast shallow area, need to be there when the tide is high ish otherwise you need to go very far from shore to get in the water. There are several toilets which were relatively clean. Only downside is a bit faraway from bus stop but maybe that is why it is so nice.

I guess this is the closest sandy beach to London. It's better to prebook your parking space.while day is £8 and after 3pm is £5. It has a couple of toilet around the beach. I saw one of them has a shower which is quite far from where you might swim. You can find a cafe there and an ice cream shop. You will find it lovely to go and swim there or even have a picnic. Also, you can find a place for renting surfing equipments there. Totally recommend if you are looking for a sandy beach.

Rally nice beach with clear water and white sands, but it was packed on the Jubilee Holiday weekend. It’s family friendly and there was lots of parking space. Try to book the parking online or you can to choose to park for free at a walking distance. Oh! And the queue for the fish and chips 😩, way too long. Try to back some food or nibbles with you.

A beautiful unspoilt beach. We went on a Friday which was still quite busy but to be expected in summer but still enjoyable. Toilets close by and an outside seating area for food and inside restaurant/cafe which was nice. Lovely countryside walk on the way towards the beach too. One of the best beaches I have been to in the UK.

I can't praise this beach enough as it's my favorite I've been to in the UK. A sandy beach with water sports to choose from and amazing blue ocean. It was very peaceful as well since yes it's popular but it's huge so you can stay clear of others if you want to. Only thing was I could not find any showers for sandy feet which was slightly annoying.

Beautiful place to spend a day with family and friends. The beach is well taken care of, there's no litter on the sand, and the estate is kept well maintained and facilities are excellent. As they are changing the car park booking system at the moment, there was no need to book previously for parking. We were welcomed by friendly staff at the gate and helpful to direct us to the blue badge spaces. We used the toilet facilities in the morning and again at the end of the day and both times they were kept clean and well stocked with toilet paper. I was only a bit disappointed with the disabled toilet facilities, with a not so large door, and difficult to close by yourself due to the small space inside for a wheelchair. Nevertheless, it's great to have a disabled facilities in the first place. Maybe the Estate can consider changing the space a little? All in all, it will not prevent us to return to West Wittering Beach, as the experience, the scenary, and the staff created a great day. An additional information - it was windy (a local told us it's usually windy all year round) and the water was freezing. Of course it's only April, and although a warm sunny day, it's expected the sea to be cold. Fantastic place for everyone!

One of the best beaches in the area. I’m so glad that you have to book your Parking in advance now, no more queues😊. Plenty of parking on site, a very big beach when the tide is out, and you can walk out quite far into the sea and still be knee deep or shoulder deep

Beautiful blue flag beach, ample parking although pricey for the day. Clean soft sand. East head has a national trust reserve that has some fenced off dunes for rare wildlife, really wonderful walk around it.

A glorious beach of space and light. Broad horizons, golden sand and crystal blue waters. There is a lot of space and when the tide goes out it is perfect for a multitude of activities over the sands. Excellent facilities, food outlets, tea and coffee and much parking space. The parking costs are variable on seasons and demand but normally drop by about 50% after 3pm. So on average it might be £15 for the day(24 hour period). Paying all done via app, by scanning barcode on signage, registration recognition camera tech makes for an easily accessible experience to a wonderful beach that caters for all. Not to missed when the sun is shining. 🏝️💐🍻☕️😎🍦🚤

Lovely white sand beach perfect for swimming and sandcastles. There are lifeguards on duty during peak hours. There’s a massive car park with overflow parking into the fields. It’s £8 parking for the day which is quite a lot but the car park is right next to the beach. The place can get very busy during school holidays and the toilets and food stalls have queues. It can also get quite windy here on the peninsula so bring a wind break or a jacket if a bit blowey!

Perfect Sandy beach one side of the beach you can find rocks other side is sand. Would suggest to sort it out parking before you come here, there is no parking around this location at all on summer time.

This is my favourite local beach to visit. You park really close to the beach so it’s easy to bring picnics and beach paraphernalia. We have often BBQed but this year it wasn’t allowed due to the prolonged dry weather and fire risk. The challenges with this beach are: traffic (the queues can be immense!) and when the tide is out you feel you have to walk half way to the Isle of Wight to swim.

Really clean nice beach and dunes. Enjoyable day out £5.50 for the car park all day. Paid by phone 📱 Sandy car park is easy enough to find spaces but I can imagine it being busy in summer, my visit was April 27

Beautiful sandy clean beach. We went a little later in the day/evening (spur of the moment, non planned visit) for a quick run around with our little ones, and they loved it. A group of teenage boys playing ball on the beach kindly let my little one join in too, really friendly people there. Parking was easy to pay for, not a bad price. Will definitely be going again to visit.

One of the best beaches for small children and kids. There are plenty of shallow areas for the little ones to play and swim in. Great beach and decent cafe. Parking is good and you have the option to prepay so you can just park up, offload and relax. I would recommend prepayment for parking anyways as a few times it's been fully booked.

With the tide out this is an absolutely huge sandy beach. Lifeguards on duty in summer. So much space you have to see it to believe it. Views to the Isle of Wight. Light refreshment available but most take their own picnic. Fabulous place.

The sand is the most gentle hue of gold, almost earthen and muted, the humble star of the scene. I love this beach. I love the driftwood that comes upon the buoyant waves as tiny rescue boats. Then there is the seaweed, that flora of those salty waves, as deeply green as any high summer foliage. My favourite though, of everything that is here upon the softly rolling dunes, is the tall, tall grass that whispers so sweetly into the gusting breeze.

  • 5/5 Kirsty G. 3 years ago on Google
Been there since I was young, excellently place to go to, clean toilet area, can either go on the beach or stay on the grass, dogs allowed on part of the beach, you can catch crabs a short walk from the beach. Love it here, will be back very soon.

No problems booking (despite hubby not booking the right day). Staff helpful to arrange correct booking day. Parking was closer to the beach than I expected from the reviews. Clean and not overcrowded. The beach was not overly crowded and people respected the social distancing measures. Cafe was open and selling hot and cold beverages and ice cream.and there was also.hot food; we had fish and chips which was lovely (not too greasy). Lovely sandy beach although quite windy so take a wind breaker (although these are sold at the shop along with mallets).

Today my daughter had an epileptic fit on the beach.. The life guards were amazing. Because she was tired after, they drove us to our car and made sure we were both ok and asked all the correct questions... Brilliant beach too!

  • 4/5 Nic B. 3 years ago on Google
Usually very crowded due to the Fantastic Sandy Beaches. Downsides are it's very windy and when the tide goes out you'll have a long walk to go for a paddle. West Wittering has a Huge car park, toilet facilities and a Café. If you prefer somewhere less crowded, try East Wittering. It's only a couple of miles away. It's a pebbly beach, there are a parade of shops and a great restaurant if you fancy some Fish and chips.

A busy time when I visited but social distancing being observed by visitors in queue and controlled for entry. 1 out.. 1 in.. however i didn't see anything to tell me what they sold or served.. i did buy a vegan sausage roll and a coffee.. there are other beach essentials! Other units selling drinks and food. Not licensed so no alcohol here.. !

Post Covid-19 lockdown: toilets open and operating a one-way system to encourage social distancing. Had to book parking beforehand. It was possible to park a reasonable distance (3 to 5 metres) from other vehicles at the far end of the site. Still a lovely place to spend the day.

  • 3/5 Amanda J. 3 years ago on Google
The reduced parking at the beach was successfully obvious in the number of people there. Social distancing measures were successful to a medium - generally people on the beach were distanced and had tents, umbrellas or windbreak to define their areas - though those in the water were not keeping as much distance (which may have been contributed by a small lifegaurded area, and outside of that area lesson's were taking place and so people were only allowed near the shore). There was distancing when queuing for ice-creams at the outside shop, and prices for items were average for a tourist destination. However, the toilets were an abosule let down, and I felt disgusted when in them. Not only did the one way system not work (as people were entering and exiting from the same door, which was around a corner) all toilets were covered in urine and sand, and there was no amount of distancing when washing hands - a child was wandering right behind me as their parent just watched on. For the otherwise moderate success the beach had otherwise, I was disappointed in the basic lack of hygiene within the toilets.

Great sandy beach. Can get very windy so bring a wind deflector if you are planning on setting up on the beach. Book the car park in advance as its always fully booked when the weather is nice. Check when the sea tides before you come as you may have to walk for a while before reaching the water. Also the sea is very shallow for miles when the tide is out. Good for kids I guess but not so good if you want to actually do some swimming

One of the best beach I’ve been so far in England. We all loved the warm water and not so crowded as they limited the car park to half of its capacity. Plenty of people would still park far away and walk down by the beach but still plenty place to social distance.

One of the best beaches in the UK large grass car park with a shop selling drinks and ice creams and a cafe also toilets and outdoor showers. Views towards the Isle of Wight from the beach, when the tide is out there are sandbars exposed which you can Wade to at this point the beach is huge. Lifeguards patrol the site and there are flagged areas for safe swimming. The tides do move fast at their peak so keep an eye on your children.

This is our family's favourite UK beach. Lovely sand, calm sea, you can walk out for what seems like miles to play on the sand Islands and pools. Good parking and amenities.Friendly staff and a clean beach. In Covid, many idiots parking near to the beach and walking in (making it much crowded and causing the locals lots of parking issues). Plan you trip and book a ticket. Its cheap!

This is a great sandy beach with lifeguard 10 to 6 pm .There are loads of parking but you need to come early to get a spot. During to COVID19 its recommended you book in advance in JUST PARK APP in Android or iOS , There are plenty of facilities such as toilets and showers ,restaurants, beach shops with ice cream stalls. It's a uniquely outstanding beach , its feels far less commercial than a lot of beaches in the South Coast and you have more room to spread out. The beach is well look after and is clean . You are allowed to have bbq aswell gate close at 8:30 pm .

Good beach to visit in the summer. Beach has a gentle gradient so the tide comes in and goes out quite fast. At low tide the sea is about half a mile out. There is always a lot of people there, and unless you are prepared to walk a long way you will have to share a breakwater with some other group. The best time to visit is in the evening of a warm day, as there are no people there after 6:00 on the beach and it is still quite warm.

Superb place, was impressed at how busy it was considering it was a very windy day in February! Very dog friendly beach. Wouldn't hesitate to go back on an OK day! Even with the wind. It wasn't a bad few hours out and about!

Amazingly accessible beach! Beach Wheelchairs are available to hire at the estate office here for free (£20 deposit that is returned to you when you return the chair) They looked after my powerchair for me too while I was out enjoying the sand and sun 🌞 I was even able to get in the sea! Thank you so much West Wittering Estate Team!!! 🥰

Very nice beach, very clean sandy beach. Friendly security staff. Ample amount of parking spaces on short walking distance to waters

Lovely beach and its so good you have a parking space because you pay for it. It’s good you can reserve parking and turn up when you like. I would give the beach 5 stars. However I only gave 4 because we went to get fish and chips yesterday after queuing up for an hour to get them. We was told they had no fish it had all been sold. We was starving hungry. Also being on a beach you would think they would have loads of fish as it’s a very popular dish. They was sold out by 2:30pm.

One of UK's top beaches to escape to on the south coast. Lots of parking can be found onsite or nearby (with a short walk). Long stretches beach, very soft sand, waters are calm and shallow for a quite a distance. If you stay for low tide, the beach expands 10 fold. The amenities are good here too, with food stations, ice cream and serviced toilets.

Stunning and huge sandy beach. Great for all ages. Water is usually warmer than other beaches. Tide goes out a long way. Beach is pretty shallow so easy to get in water and for kids. Nice walks in the area too. Does get very busy and a bit secluded so advance parking booking essential on hot days.

Clean white sandy beach. Best for picnic, family time, Kids, water sports and dogs. Expensive parking, better to book online to avail discount. Parking next to the beach. Only 2 restaurants next to the beach which gets a long queue be ready to wait for more than hour to order food.

Lovely beach, was a little windy. Cafe which I didn't visit but also three small snack places on does food, burgers, fish, ect and another does drinks, water smoothies so on. The third does drinks and ice creams including a Mr whippy. Normal beach prices 99 whippy was 3 pounds, water around 2. Beach is clean, no dogs but u can have them much further down. Very fine sand. Life guards, lots of of space on beach. was 10p for parking in advance also lots of space and easy to navigate

It obviously can't compare to a Caribbean beach, however, in terms of size and cleanliness it's a good spot for a day out with friends and family including children. Lots of parking space, washrooms near the beach, lifeguards on duty and wardens continuously cleaning the beach. Despite it being a windy and chilly day we had a grand time.. just not in the water

The beach is excellent. Lifeguards and facilities at usual times. The car park is quite expensive if you just want to turn up for a few hours for a walk. It would be great to see some late night opening hours and updated toilets as they are getting a little old now.

One of the nicer beaches that I have been to in England. Soft nice sand, clean beach, ample parking space, washrooms, first aid, surfing etc. Great way to spend the weekend especially if the weather is warm.

West Wittering beach, near Chichester harbour is just one of two Sandy beaches on the Sussex coast. There is a large car park for 500 vehicles, plus hire of water sports equipment, a restaurant and cafe. The site also boasts multiple public toilets and cold shower facilities. The beach is backed by dunes and is a wide swathe of sand. The beach is very shallow. At low tide it feels like you could almost walk to the Isle of Wight, however the channel between remains deep, deep enough for the odd aircraft carrier that passes by. Do watch for the shifting sandbars and fast currents here. Lucky there is a very well equipped life guard service between 9 am and 5.30 pm

Lovely peaceful place and you're allowed to bring dogs all year round which is great. Had a great 5 hours there today 24/08 chilling on the beach and going in the solent for a paddle and swim. Lots of people there despite the overcast day and people flying kites. Brought several drinks from kiosk which were nice. Service was good too. Would 100% return on a sunnier day

An absolutely beautiful location! with luscious sandy beaches. We go often when the tide is out and you get small areas of water with lots of fishes to watch. There is also toilets, a cafe and a shop for buying buckets and parasols. Only downside is disabled access to the beach is limited and parking is £12 for either am or pm session

This is a place I have visited a few times, the beach is excellent, safe for children, and has wonderful views the cafe is also recommended but today the toilets at the cafe were closed and the car park is now (at this time of the year) £12.50!! Even if you just stay for half an hour!!

Fabulous sandy beach and dunes. Great for walks, birdwatching and sunbathing in the summer. Toilets and cafe is located near the car park. However, daily parking is VERY expensive so best to make it a day visit and not just a couple of hours.

Lovely, clean beach. It was busy when we went but we still had plenty of space to camp. The food was not that great, it was ok. But when I go to the seaside and I see fish and chips on the menu. I expect chip shop chips not Fries, and Fries was what we got. Plus they did not have onion vinegar. But overall the beach was nice. We didn't leave until it started to get dark.
