What a fantastic day we had with the family and our mutt at this lovely Farm, it is like stepping back in time. Everything is there to be enjoyed by the grandchildren to Great Grandma . There is so much to do there, all the different types of horses , let’s not forget the goats, pigs, turkeys, llama’s, pole cats, birds, rabbits, chickens and ducks. The play areas are really good, as well as all the different types of rides. Also very important is all the knowledge they have about the horses, what they were used for in the past and how they ended up at the Dorset Heavy Horse Farm. We as a family would recommend spending time here, we are certainly going to return, thanks for a lovely day. .

Absolutely wonderful day out, for the whole family. Very informative and entertaining introduction to the history of heavy horses, as well as stories about the horses they have in their care. Lovely displays of old road construction vehicles, shepherd or gypsy wagons. Wonderful setting and great play areas for the children. 2 criticisms, hopefully constructive- did not see enough refuse bins and think the restaurant needs another cashier or 2 trained up to serve those only wanting cool drinks or ice-creams. As example, went in to select what we wanted then had to go to back of the queue and wait while the 6 or 7 families in front decided what they wanted for lunch; by time got served and got back outside, the ice creams were melting. Will we return again? Most definitely, this was our second visit and will probably be back for another.

Great place to spend the day. Plenty to do for kids of all ages, and an abundance of well-kept animals to feed and stroke. Several activities such as tractor rides and pony grooming all included in the very reasonable price. The staff are all friendly and happy, and the main chap telling the stories engaging. Clean toilets and hand washing at one end. There is a cafe - nice coffee and cake, but didn't try the hot food. All in all a lovely day out, and 3 out of 3 kids sad to leave which is the seal of approval.

A nice place to enjoy a few hours. The animals are well looked after and some of the staff are friendly. My daughter enjoyed the activities on offer and the play areas. The tractors, trampoline and the park area are all very well maintained, great fun :)! The Smokey Joe’s Cafe is dark and dingy, plus it really smells of mould/foist. I didn’t eat. The toilets aren’t very clean and the space in the cubicles is tiny. I would visit again but will be bringing a picnic.

Brilliant place with some our most iconic heavy horses and other farm animals. Lovely hot lunch, delicious coffee and lots of cake options. Take some time out with the heavies, carriage/trailer rides, alpacas, pigs, small animal petting, talks and naughty goats (!) Pre-booking required.

This is a fantastic place to visit, whether you go alone or with the family and friends as i did. The horses are gorgeous and clearly very well looked after and loved. I enjoyed reading about each one's different personalities and their breed of heavy horse. They are cheeky but very friendly! The gentleman who does the first show of the day talking about the horses is very funny and witty and did a solid job of having a laugh at my expense much to my partners amusement (and my own) The rides and facilities for the children are fantastic, the staff are very friendly and engaging. Overall it was a lovely day out and gave them an appreciation for these incredible animals, it was great to be able to get so up close with them and interact.

Oh my wordy what a wonderful day we had with our grandchildren . To be honest when we first arrived at 10 am. I thought we d only be there a couple of hrs but in the end we were the last to leave at 4 pm. There is so much to see and do from Horse Cart rides, Tractor rides to Go Carts and plenty of other play activities in between. For us adults the best ever was the owners very very informative talks we could of listened to him all day long . You can just tell how much he luvs his horses and country life . He welcomed any question you wanted to ask. Also wow the tractor ride around the field with good old farming music going on all the way round is definitely a must though you have to hold on lol. Such fun we did it twice . Such a great place to visit for all . We Def will be back . Oh one more thing I must say is a biggest ever thankyou to you all who work there as you are one amazing team so friendly and helpful.

One of the last in the country and well worth the entrance fee to help these beautiful breeds. You MUST book in advance as they can only allow a certain number in. These large breeds were amazing to see and also the other animals, like the small ponys and goats and of course the farm cat. Lovely staff running the small animal handling. Nice play area for my younger son while his horse obsessed teenage sister loved being with the horses. Also 2 indoor play areas, horse and cart rides and an informative talk on the horses and history and show of how the tack goes on was extremely interesting and entertaining. I would say the indoor play area for older children could do with some lighting as a few of the children were scared to go in as it was dark. All in all a great day and would definitely go again.

Fabulous 4 and a half hours here yesterday in Horsey Paradise! I was on my own but there's so much to see ,listen to and do even without bringing kids! You'd need a whole day here for that. I loved the talks especially when these big beauties were brought out of their stables so you could see them in all their glory. Plenty of other animals to see and feed and pet.Great staff too. Brilliant day out.

We thought it would be a pleasant afternoon out. So we spent three & half hours but we could of spent longer there. It's a great little place with lots of animal petting and activities to do the peddle go carts could do with a bit of maintenance but it was worth the money spent so £62 got us in then everything else was free. Enjoy your day out there.

Was a really nice the children really enjoyed it. Enough things to do likely wasn't too busy only thing is when get go to 15mins before closing one women coming round pretty much telling us to go because we'll "want to look round the gift shop". Considering paid £40 for me and 2 children I want to get the whole time

Splendid earthworks and Norman church (much remodelled and now romantically ruined). There is a small grove of yew trees to the north of the church which was beautifully festooned with ribbons, wishes and prayers when I visited. A charming and calming spot

What a great day for the whole family with lots to do and very engaging friendly staff! There were no extra costs once inside, and we were there from 10 am to 3pm, I would love to go back without th kids and listen to more of the talks, as all seemed very engaging to listen to.

Staff super kind and friendly, small farm so if you don't bring kids it'll only be an hour or so if you're not stopping. It would be good to groom the big horses for the adults. Horses are well looked after.

Best day out we have had In a very long time, from horse & carriage rides too back of tractors there is so much too do. Indoor play barn with a drop slide that is scary but so fun! They have a smaller play barn for the little ones too enjoy aswell, 2x rides that kids can go on but it's only on certain times due too the horse rides. We was there nearly all day and had such a good day.

Absolutely love this place. Mix of farm animals, horses and kids play areas. Plenty of picnic areas. Only one toilets but the separate baby change are very good. Good quality paths for prams, mobility scooters. Well behaved dogs allowed on leads. Small cafe onsite but quite expensive for tea/coffee. They ran out of chocolate on the third day of being open.

Had an amazing time here with my family. I would highly recommend visiting here if you're looking for something to do, it's cheap to enter and has everything planned and ready for you and the kiddies to enjoy the day, learn about various horses and the history of the breeds before feeding the animals and getting rides on the tractors or playing on the bumper cars. Food here is amazing value for money too! Make sure to buy your tickets before you arrive as they run a tight schedule and cannot accept walk ins.

Fantastic place to come to bring the kids for a very full and entertaining day out. Not only does visiting here support the fantastic work they do to protect and look after these rare breeds, but the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. A definite place to add to your itinerary when visiting this beautiful part of the country...

Absolutely loved the heavy horse farm. We felt it was a very authentic and personal experience with the owners themselves doing a lot of the activities. Our son, who is only 20 months old, loved the animals and the vintage rides. Well worth the money and would definitely visit again when next in Dorset.

What a brilliant day out! So much to do there, we didn't see it all. Loved the mix of things for adults and children with different interests to do. One of my kiddies loves animals and enjoyed stroking a rabbit and riding in the pony trap, the other loved playing on the tractors, trampolines and brilliant play park! Only negative was the website claimed the cafe would cater for gluten free, vegan etc, however no one seemed to be able to tell me if there was any milk in the kids meals, they just kept saying the food was cooked together and they had gluten free bread. It was a milk allergy we were trying to avoid... Anyway, that aside, I would go again, but take a packed lunch and we all still had a brilliant day. They had a little undercover seating area for picnics as well as loads of benches around the park, so plenty of places to sit. Lovely little baby change in a gypsy wagon. Fun for all ages 😊

Brilliant place. Visited with a 2 1/2 and 3 adults on Saturday. Fab price and great value. Had a ride on a work horse. And the tractor ride at the end was such good fun. The little one fed the horses, went on pony ride, groomed the pony, went on vintage fair rides, rode a mini tractor, played in the adventure playgrounds and zoomed around as a passenger when I peddled like mad on a buggy. This was great fun. Had food from the cafe and it was hot, tasty and reasonable value. Easy access to all the faculties and had hand washing stations. All in our party had a fantastic day and thoroughly recommended it to kids and adults a like. Please visit and support their great work.

You will be able to see and hear the story behind the horses and watch one been saddle and go for a ride. The restaurant is good and prices are reasonable. On a negative side, the only have few animals and the activities are limited.
