Really enjoyed this experience, a nice way to see a different side of York. We wanted something we could do that allowed us to take the dog, and it was perfect. A nice walk, nothing too strenuous. Was especially nice as we had walked through York earlier in the day and the walk gave us a new perspective on places we had seen. Glad we went and worth the money.

Loved every minute of this! Fab tour guide, he was informative and funny. Can't recommend enough. We had been to lots of the places during the day but missed so many things, so it was great to see lots of detail once the crowds had gone. It was such a good price as well. It starts at 8 pm and ends around 9.40, so there is plenty of time to nip to the pub afterwards. You won't go wrong with this tour, and don't forget a little tip for the guide because he does a fabulous job!

The stories are readily available online, but it takes a certain level of enthusiasm and theatrics to truly bring them to life. Unfortunately, my walk lacked those elements, and as a result, the impact of the stories fell short. While I have nothing against the storyteller, it's clear that something was lacking. However, if you're looking for a truly impactful experience, I highly recommend checking out the Edinburgh tour - it's in a league of its own.

We were led around the city by Clive, who was in turn engaging, funny, and open and friendly. The tour itself was a great blend of historical tour and ghost stories that are entwined into the very architecture of the city. It’s also a fabulous way to explore more of the city and discover corners you might miss just following the key sites. It’s the perfect length of time too, and flew by. Would highly recommend for anyone!

One of the good ways to discover the city at night, listening to the lesser known dark secrets. However, the stories could have been a bit more interesting.

Gruesome and delightful. I wasn’t sure what to expect without booking in advance, but our guide was marvelous and engaging, and you barely noticed the large group. Fun way to explore York by night!

Entertaining, interesting and spooky tour of York by Mark with ghosts and death aplenty. I'd been on a ghost tour before years ago and knew some of the stories but not all of them - and those I did know were retold so well I still enjoyed listening to them again. The group (post-Christmas, pre-New Year) was large but not so large that it was a problem. Good value and well worth doing!

This was my highlight of visiting York. Our guide was charismatic and funny and really made it a great evening. The walk is informative and interesting, it was a great way to start our visit to York and gave us a good foundation for the next few days to get around. I could see a few tours going about which I am sure are great but this one was the original and most popular clearly. If you are visiting York and are able to do the walk you must not miss this.

A brilliant tour this evening, a true story teller. Didn’t catch our guide’s name but thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice to find some places we hadn’t explored in York before.

This is one of the best walking tours I’ve taken in my life, never mind whether it’s a ghost tour or not. My wife tends to enjoy ghost tours more than I do, and I go along begrudgingly, but I really enjoyed this. Our tour guide was very entertaining, kept the group together, and managed to speak so that the whole, rather large group, could hear him. We were a little nervous about the fact that they don’t take reservations since York was very crowded for Easter, but as I said, it was well managed and something I would enthusiastically recommend.

Shared this nearly 2 hour great experience tonight with a large group that were totally engrossed in the numerous sightings recounted by our historian Clive. An incredible deal for 7 pounds. Great job done by Clive in not sensationalizing the deaths but keeping the people real.

Great tour! His knowledge is impressive and he tailors stories to people in the group. Asked questions about our studies and gave us reading recommendations. Overall- very interesting, kind man who’s evidently passionate. £5 for students Out of all the tours in york, I’d really recommend this one !!!

Great fun and a bargain at £5 for adults £3 for kids. Some of the tours you had to pre-book and were more expensive.

Fantastic 'must do' activity in York. It was a big group but the host was very engaging with everyone. As a Yorkie being a tourist in my own city, this is by far the best ghost walk I have been on. Great value for money too!

Had the pleasure of experiencing an amazing ghost walk here in York this evening. From start to end the commentary was warm, friendly and kept upbeat with well placed bouts of quick witt and friendly but relevant humour. The tour was rammed with both fascinating and spine chilling facts and our guide Mark showed a clear passion for the work he does, showcasing a plethora of local knowledge and reciting countless local tales and folklore. Mark's charisma and down to earth-ness was what really made this tour stand out. I would recommend that anyone who has the opportunity while here in York should get themselves on this original ghost walk. It is great for all ages, for individuals, couples, friends and even families. This has been by far our favourite experience during our time here in York.

To start with what Great value for Money. Ghost man Pat our guide was hilarious from the start . Passionate about his City and its rich history, totally entertaining and factual. Could have listened to him all night. No gimmicks just spine chilling facts delivered in such an amusing way. . You won’t be disapointed.

The Original Ghost Walk of York was a great experience you should definitely make time for on your trip to York! The stories were spooky and the way our guide told them was excellent. He really scared me and some others in the group! He is a great storyteller and has a really good voice (he should record audio books!) He was very nice and asked a lot of people while walking from one point to another where they were staying only to tell us how haunted our hotels were 😅 the walk was well timed, not too short or too long, really good value for money (about 90 min, 7.50 pound per person). Also, not an exhausting walk but wear comfy shoes that won't get stuck in between the cobblestone! I highly recommend it!

Wonderful experience. Fantastic stories by a knowledgeable entertaining tour guide. They could easily charge 3x the price and this would still be value for money. A must do in York.

My wife and i went along to join the ghost walk which started at 20:00 only to find no one else there and suddenly, within five minutes there was about fifty of us! We are really glad we waited as we enjoyed the walk very much, very informative and entertaining host who took us all around York, pointing out things we wouldn't normally see. The walk lasted about one and three quarter hours and all for only £7.50 ! Excellent value and wholly enjoyable, would definitely recommend

Would highly recommend. A very thought provoking and interesting tour around some of York’s haunted destinations, and our tour guide was both very charismatic and authentic, and genuinely took an interest in all the guests and did so with good humour. Well worth the price!

Went on the tour tonight and wasn't sure if there would be many people attending due to the cold snowy weather. There was however about 10 of us which made the tour more personal as a smaller group. I'm afraid I can't remember the tour guides name but I thoroughly enjoyed the almost 2 hours of history and ghost tales of the dark side of York. Was one of the best ghost tours I've been on (and I've done a fair few!!) Would definitely recommend and was well worth the £7.50.

Attended the tour last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and the most fantastic story teller. Was very cold, wet, and windy but I wouldn't let that put you off attending. Would recommend to anyone!

Brilliant ghost walk from start to finish.. Chris was very informative on the history of York’s darkest secrets and stories. I even caught a few ghostly figures on my camera! He made the whole group laugh along the way aswell. Would definitely recommend! Thanks again Chris! Top guy 👍

We went last night and it was “Ghostman Pat” who did our walk. He was so funny, happy and a great guy! My husband even joined in at the end which was funny. Really great hour and a bit. Well worth going. Highly recommend

Would definitely recommend! Our ghost walk was held by Mark, was very interesting learning about some of the history with York but also some great ghost stories. Good length of time to walk around. Mark got to know everyone who was in the group and made it more personal. Was just great!

Amazing informative ghost walk which was not only historical but also humorous and charismatic, the guy who holds it is a lovely gentleman who made us laugh all throughout. Lasts a good amount of time and a good lovely walk through York. Thank you!

👍👍 There are quite a few tours around York that you could do but I would point you in the direction of The Bloody Tour of York, hosted by Mad Alice. Less about the ghost stories - though there is certainly a few anecdotes about ghoulish encounters - this focuses more on the grisly deaths of residents...

👍👍 A wonderful walk with the Wizard of York. My kids (8 and 10) had a blast… magic and puns and gargoyle bums - what’s not to like?!?! The Wizard (Mr? Sir?) led us on a guided 1hr 15min walk starting from the bottom of the Shambles. Lots of fun and a great way to easily see more of the city. We also pu...
