Came up as a good place to eat on trip advisor and the barbers i used in York recommended it so we thought we should give it a go. We arrived early and it was quiet but it filled up quickly and by six pm there were no tables left that i could See. The food was delicious. My favourite part of Rustique though was the service, it was friendly, efficient and swift. Bill came to 72 pounds for one starter, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 glasses of wine. Would go again.

Lovely decor, food and service. Very good value set menu. Would be 5 stars if I hadn't felt so rushed! Even the food was served super fast and hurried! Is this a french thing? Booked for 7:45. Website gave you options for start and finish time for your booking slot. So did 7:45-9:45, knowing we were going to have 3 courses then possibly a coffee. Got in a few minutes early, but were out by 8:30 easily, and that was having 3 courses, no coffee, as felt too sick to have coffee. Would have liked even just a few minutes between main and dessert, but ended up stuffed and uncomfortable. What's the point in offering start and finish time if just going to rush people, anyway? Would dine here again buy would eat less as not given time to enjoy and digest it.

Amazing food and service, we walked in on a fully booked evening around 6, asking for a table for 7-7:30. We were advised that it was fully booked for the night but we can try walking in around 7:30. By the time we got there, the lady at the reception already booked us a table, because we said we would come, and there was a spot opened up for two. I’m touch by the thoughtfulness.

A fantastic French bistro in York City Centre! Plenty of seating upstairs with quick and attentive staff, even on a Saturday! Great choices for set menu, including prices.

Came here after reading the reviews and had high expectations. Firstly, the beef bourguignon was absolutely delightful and flavoursome. Everyone that comes here should order this dish, and the richness of the sauce is to die for. I’ll never forget this. It’s a lovely charming décor restaurant however service was good but not the 5 star worthy. It was good, friendly, and you will have a lovely meal and experience. Go for the beef though seriously.

Amazing service and delicious food in a cosy restaurant! I love their appetisers, onion soup and mushrooms are amazing! For main courses, we went for mussels and crab&prawn linguine, i love the mussels! A big huge pot definitely fills you up! Brilliant service from the staffs as well!

Decided to try booking a table last minute for a Thursday night, and managed to get squeezed in around 9pm. Seems like a really popular place, it was full. The service was good, friendly chatty waiters that let us get on with enjoying our meal. And the food itself was excellent. Wonderful starter of scallops with celeriac puree; the pork belly in a nice jus was some of the best I've tried. Hopefully it won't be long before I can come back.

Lunch with no reservation, was sat thoughtfully upstairs in case someone mobility challenged needed ground floor seating. Had french onion soup and sautéed mushrooms and a glass of wine. Both dishes good. Sat in a upstairs room alone, most were in the next bright dining room, multiple seating areas.

It’s good to be back and it’s good to come here again. My appetite isn’t good recently but I was able to eat a two-course here. Love the food as always. Thank you and thank you for the service too. Great food for great price.

Fine French dining experience and the perfect place to enjoy a meal with good old friends! The food was delicious. We ordered assiette de charcuterie to share between us (more than enough for 3 persons) and I ordered boeuf bourguignon as a main dish that was properly cooked. The Parlez-vouz Malbec wine was a great choice and it accompanied well the dish. The crème brûlée was a delight at the end of the meal. The staff had a profound knowledge of the dishes they served, making recommendations and entertaining the clients in a very pleasant and welcoming way. Definitely, a dining experience not to miss out while in York !

A really good place to eat whatever the occasion. The food has a distinctly French feel and was well cooked and presented. The staff were lovely - runoff their feet as it was Mother’s Day but gave individual attention nonetheless. We all loved it and it’s atmosphere. We will be back and I would certainly recommend to others.

Mussels is the best… it’s always good, big meaty tender and juicy! Steak not as good. Sticky toffee pudding is nice as well. Recommend!

Delicious food, 5/5. Mussels, Duck confit, sticky toffee pudding. Server was also very nice and helpful with my questions on the type of food and checked very meticulously on my allergies to make sure the food is OK. Would eat again!! Cheaper than I expected as well.

Amazing French cuisine, delicious food and friendly staff. The set menu had a great variety of choices, you would definitely find something you want. All the dishes we had was so well cooked made me think I was in France. Would surely come back next time I am in York!

Pleasant, friendly staff. We had pre-booked a table and we're seated as soon as we arrived. Food and drink order was taken quickly (not rushed) and all were delivered in a timely manner. Food on the Fixed Price Menu, 3 courses for £25 was excellent.

Absolutely brilliant place. Very good service from everyone, really nice decor, brilliant food. We couldn't fault it. Highly recommended. We selected from the set menu, which was perfect.

Lovely experience and the course meals were good value for price!! The highlights were definitely the starters as they just tasted amazing 😋 service was great too The only thing was the crème brûlée, the texture was slightly too creamy and a lot sweeter than I expected (from what I knew should be from my dining experience in France) Despite this it was a really nice experience overall and I enjoyed my meal here :)

Just try it, we went without a booking, the prices are reasonable and the food was very very good. Tender melt in the mouth belly pork on an amazing apple mash, the sea bass was beautifully cooked with crispy skin and served with a selection of mussels and white bean.

We had the 2 course set menu with onion soup, casserole, confit duck, and sticky toffee pudding. The food tasted nice but felt unrefined and lacking opportunity. For example, the bread in the soup was served already disintegrating but had good taste. It may go without saying at this price point the dessert was all pre-made but still tasted nice. Overall a nice restaurant which is priced fairly for the food being served.

Lovely meal here on Saturday night. The place is always packed apparently, so make sure you book! Food was delicious and service friendly and efficient. Lovely wine list with a few non-French options that were carefully considered. Sit downstairs if you can - upstairs is bigger and can be noisy. I will definitely be returning! My only gripe is that the set menu is not available on weekend evenings.

Came here after reading all the great reviews and we weren't disappointed. Fantastic set lunch menu with so much choice! We had fishcake and French onion soup to start and also a side of garlic bread which tasted like a loaf had been dipped into a vat of garlic butter. It was amazing. Mussels and oeuf a la basque for mains and I had sticky toffee pudding. Our favourite meal we had in York!!

Enjoyable experience! Came for lunch on a Sunday, friendly and attentive staff and the food was excellent. 3 course set menu is very good value for the standard of service, will be back soon and would most definitely recommend.

Loved our night there. We went for my partner’s birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, which was lovely. The food was very good with sizeable portions for the combo 3 course deal. Loved the mains, had the confit de canard and the pork - both delicious and filling. Will be back again, just gotta save some coins first!!
