Very nice walk and waterfall feature, free parking on site and a cafe on the car park. Paths are suitable for prams as I saw someone pushing one around, although there are stairs for varied routes. You can get to the waterfall without needing to climb the stairs. Nice places to sit on benches, and information about the wildlife dotted around.

This is an amazing park and has lots of fun things to do. Has some nice little walks, a great park for the kids and a cafe that does beautiful ice cream! 😋 Would definitely visit again, I had a fab day with my Family 💖

Great place to visit for a walk, dog walk or to take photos. We walked for about a mile and a half round the water and surrounding paths. There's also the option to do longer walks with different public footpaths in the area. There is plenty of space in the free carpark and also a cafe with toilets. Would recommend a visit.

Nice, pleasant, leisurely walk with the hubby and dog. Small cafe on the car park which is dog friendly too.

My wife came up with places to go, I overode her and said let's go here instead, we were both glad of that decision. Such a beautiful walk, pleasant walkers going past saying hello, nice scenic views and a lovely waterfall also to top things off. It is possible for prams but some parts may need them carrying up some steps, more for convenience than anything else but that does not distract away from available pram/ wheelchair access points. Free ample parking,

Beautiful park with wildlife and many small paths to choose from. Many benches and tables throughout the area. Clean toilets, a cafe and good parking. Can get very busy. Throughly recommended.

Very nice place to walk, lots of different paths varying in scenery. There is a child's play area that kept ours entertained.

Lovely dog friendly park that just needs a little TLC. When you arrive there is a decent sized car park that is free! No charge! There is a network of small paths and trails, that unfortunately can be a little confusing, needing clear signage. However the park is lovely and the stepped weir is a lovely surprise. The cafe at the car park does a lovely coffee. We will be returning. Highly recommended!

Yarrow valley country park -- a nice day for going out with friends and family. A large country park with lots of walking paths according to your ability whether its is a short 30 minutes walk or a 3 hours long hike. A dog friendly country park with a small playground for young kids with suitable protective grounds. Your dogs and kids would love the environment, the cafe seems a bit small as we come as a group of 30 people. Ample parking space but it may get a little busy during weekend and bank holidays.

A beautiful, well kept park with lots of nice walks and sights. The bird viewing areas a great feature to learn about the local wildlife. If your dog likes big fields though it's not the best for that as there isn't much open space within a close proximity.

Lots of good walks, long and short. The shortest walk, up to the cool weir you've probably seen on every other photograph, is all proper paths (as are those around the lakes (or lodges as they are called) - and up to and around the kids play area - which looks excellent), however the walks that continue along the banks of the yarrow can be very very muddy and I'd recommend wellies, or high walking boots. The Yarrow is a very beautiful river.

Fantastic place to visit. There are a few different paths to explore and the walks are very tranquil. There are also 2 large ponds and a fun play area for the kids. You could even take a bucket and spade as the play area is all sand. There is a nice cafe just on the car park and there are plenty of benches about to sit down.

We came here today for the first time it was really nice. The kids loved that it had a little playground/park. It has a nice waterfall and some big ponds. There are lots of little paths to walk down. We spent a couple of hours here and had a picnic. We will definitely be coming back x

Lived in Wigan for 18 years and never knew of this place, and is now one of our new favourites. The dogs loved it. Many different paths around the place and lots of benches should you want a rest. Ample free parking which is a bonus, however when busy you may have to wait for a space. There is a beautiful waterfall at the end of one of the paths which is quite stunning. Will be making regular visits to Yarrow Valley Country Park now.

What a fantastic place. There are lots to see and explore, a little challenging at times, but nothing problematic, be prepared for a little walk in the great and green environment with a river crossing from left to right.

Lovely place to have a relaxed walk. We went at 8am on a saturday, peaceful and everyone friendly when walking around. Various paths to take, lots of benches to sit and relax and grab some nice pictures if the weather is on your side.

Absolutely love it here. Beautiful place for a walk or picnic or just to relax and enjoy the lake and streams. There's even a salmon run! Amazing. Little cafe for coffee, snacks and simple food. Playground for the kids too.

Wonderful little country park. Free parking onsite with a cafe + toilets. Took my family there whilst on a small getaway. Nice walk even in the winter with a paved option for those with buggys/wheelchairs. A small pond and a larger lake attached leading onto a beautiful waterfall. A park for the little ones with adequate seating all around. Cafe was reasonably priced with a good variety of food. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful place. Easy parking, which is free, a nice cafe and a lovely walk through the woods. The wier was in flood when we went and was roaring over the ledge. We could've stood there for hours watching it. There's also coal mining relics around with fenced off mine shafts. There's a park there and plenty of picnic benches located around the country park. Well worth a visit. It was wet and dreary when we went but still really nice.

Lovely park for a walk or hike. Followed the blue trail. Only complaint was lots of dogs not on leashes. Barking a lot disturbing the peace. I'm not a dog person so didn't appreciate dogs coming in my personal space. Onus should be on the owners to control their dogs better. Other than that was a great experience

What a lovely place to have a stroll around, just take in the scenery and enjoy it. Lots of walkways, it's pram friendly and the parking is free. The locals are friendly and talk to you, lots to see here on a nice day. Cafe was nice, friendly staff and good prices for the food

A lovely little outing on a warm, sunny day. A big lake to walk around and a little waterfall at the top end too. Nice ice cream parlour in the car park area, and plenty of space for cars too. There's probably bigger and better versions of this sort of day out if you're willing to travel further afield, but if you want to stay local to the Chorley/south Lancs area this is great. Don't think dogs are supposed to be off their leads but everybody else's was so we joined the party. I know, irresponsible dog owner, hands up

We stopped here on our way from Surrey to the Lake District to break up the journey. Read that there were toilets, cafe and a playground. We walked clockwise round the lake, path was perfect for our double buggy had we used it. Playground was great but it was a wet day so lots of puddles including a very deep on at the bottom of the slide. Couldn't find the waterfall. Maybe next time!

  • 5/5 Isabel M. 8 months ago on Google
Very well kept, beautiful park. Lots of lovely paths around the lake and into the forest. Fantastic play area. Lots of picnic tables dotted around the park. Free parking! A little café in carpark, with public toilets. Dog friendly. Pushchair and wheelchair friendly if you stay in the main paths.

Beautiful park, fantastic woodland walks, lots of seating, places for the kids to play and a lovely waterfall if you venture through the woodlands. Yarrow Valley Country Park covers over 300 hectares and is located between Chorley and Coppull created on land previously used for bleaching, dyeing, calico printing and mining, Yarrow Valley Country Park is of local historical importance. With restored mill lodges and water courses, footpaths, picnic areas and a purpose built visitor centre, the park provides an ideal setting for a host of recreational activities.

The best reserve I've been to. I'm a part of many historical and reserve style charities. The amount of wildlife that I've never seen before, I've seen here is amazing.

Great Country Park for a walk, plenty of trails to explore and lots of wildlife, there's also a visitor center and cafe, adventure play area, waterfall and salmon ladder on the river Yarrow worth seeing. Fishing is also allowed on Birkacre lodges you will need a day ticket.
