Decided on an impromptu visit as we live close by and the weather was good. Beautiful setting and interesting enough, but we hadn't realised that it was a premium weekend (once again, should've read the website) and ended up paying £31.50 for one adult, a 14-year old and an 8-year old. We arrived in time to see the last jousting show (the premium part of the visit), which quickly got us into the spirit of things. Children especially enjoyed the iron age home (with its below ground fridge) and youngest found the WWII shelters particularly interesting. Dressing-up proved a hit. Catering could be much better, so next time we go, we'll take a picnic. Staff are lovely and dogs are allowed on leads in the grounds, but understandably not in historic buildings. Scenic trails to walk, but tearoom at the bottom of the park was closed when we visited. Loads of open space so didn't feel too crowded. Overall, would visit again, but not on a premium weekend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. At the time of the visit, some of the buildings were closed for maintenance and there were also "new" ones being erected. Its like a full scale model village simply impressed how the buildings were restored. There was a demonstration to a small group in the Blacksmith which was great to see, as it really brought the place to life. It would be great if there were more similar kind of activities. We were told there was candle making, but we missed it or it was cancelled. It would be great if there was a proper cafe/deli, the coffee you get is instant.

Really lovely place to have a wander but is very much weather dependent. We went on a day where they had an old classic car show on which added to the experience nicely. You could maybe stay a full day with little ones but not as much for older ones once you’ve looked around. Beautiful gardens and very dog friendly. There is a wonderful play area all made out of tree trunks. There is a a small cafe which was very busy so we had lunch from the food trucks which were there for the car show. Small gift shop at the entrance with some cute products - can highly recommend the vanilla and cherry shortbread!

We've been visiting COAM for many years, with our family and school trips. It's a lovely place to come and relax, look at the interesting buildings and have a picnic. We paid £25 for 2, but concessions apply. There's lots of parking and the site is suitable for wheelchair users and prams; with paths leading to different places. We have also attended specific events including vintage cars, medieval and 1940s. Picnic benches are dotted around, but we take our own chairs just in case. A coffee bar provides light refreshments. The bathrooms are clean and available in three zones - the entrance, main area and at the bottom of the hill. Children can make a candle in the summerhouse, but this may need to be pre-booked. Dogs are permitted outside on short leads, but not into the buildings. Goats, sheep and cattle are kept on site and hand sanitiser is available if you touch them. The staff are welcoming, informative and friendly.Well worth a visit.

It's a great day out out doors. Lots of walking but wheelchairs are available if needed. Appreciate the vivid experience in time and can imagine with a peek of what life was like. Not just a snapshot into the past, but a 4 D experience.

A large park, with multiple historical buildings that were either relocated to it or built. Expect a bit of walking, and the staff are happy to help elderly and disabled visitors to move around in a golf cart. Lots of volunteers that clearly like this museum and are happy to explain the content of the buildings and their historical period. There is also an horticultural side that are linked to the buildings. Great place to bring elderly people for a bit of nostalgia. Plenty of activities for children, too.

Beautiful museum with a wide range of activities for the children to do and see. Terrific Tuesday was lovely with a lot of expertise for different areas, from blacksmith, sheep herding to candle making and many more.

We had a brilliant time at their Roman day. Brilliant shows and exhibits, such friendly and knowledgeable people. The place was clean and was cleaned regularly. Although the cafe is closed there is a hot food and drink kiosk with an outside eating area. Everything is set outside so dress appropriately. Lovely woodland walk to go on.

Great open air museum. Only down side is there is no cafe to have food. But there are tables for picnic or you can buy juices, ice cream or coffee at the shop.

What a wonderful place. Saving the old buildings from being destroyed and preserving them for future generations. Loved the old forge and the old farm machinery. Took loads of photos. The place is well kept and well looked after. Top marks for an original idea that has been well executed....

Nice open air museum. It shows parts of Victorian country life and a bit of Iron Age, furniture making and WWI as well. There are different buildings to visit and animals to see. There are also some activities like candle making (for a fee). There are two mobility scooters to borrow for free for those with mobility issues, though as most buildings are quite small, it would require leaving it outside and walking in. There's just two small things I would suggest. First, to improve signage a little bit with call to action as well. There's a café so it'd be nice to know from outside what it offers or what are the prices. There's a hut where women were sewing, if it's something visitors can do then it could be stated outside. There could be another one outside the candle hut saying "come do your own candle!" Or something like that and a price next to it. Second, there's so much space that I think having some cheap games for visitors to use would add a lot. Whether it's croquet, arrows and a bow or a mini badminton court.

This is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. Especially when they have some of the special events going on through the summer. We went on a Sunday when they had a "war through the ages" event. Amazing. The quality of the exhibits was superb, from learning about the British longbow and how it changed the course of European history, to watching a knight don full armour plate. As well as WWI and WWII kit and equipment. As I say, a superb gem of a place for all the family.

Fantastic, massive place to explore with the kids, lots of history to be learnt, plenty of old houses from the past to be explored. Kids loved it!

A beautiful museum that tells the story of the Chilterns through lovely buildings - always enjoying spending the day here chatting to visitors and demonstrating spoon carving💚

What an amazing place. So much to see and do, a step back in time and a real treat. Great when there are events on as well.

Really interesting outdoor museum with a large number of buildings particularly liked the prefab and the chapel, the volunteers on site were enthusiastic and helpful allow a good 3 hours to visit the site, parking was free and the onsite cafe served reasonably priced drinks, cakes and light meals admission charges were also very reasonable

We haven't been since before the Pandemic, I must say it has got even better and as the had the Victorian acts there and we had so much fun the lady in the shop was so lovely and welcoming and the space in general was fantastic.

Wonderful day in Chiltern Open Air Museum. There is so much to see and learn about history. Tickets are not expensive and there is a large free parking on site. You can spend good few hours discovering this lovely place and enjoying lovely landscape. Have your picknic bag ready.

Really nice open-air museum. Some of the buildings are a time capsule that even smells like the old days. I was lucky to visit the Museum in a sunny and very quite weekday, so I walked relax and visited all the buildings alone. The coffee shop have nice cakes and drinks and plenty of places to seat. It's worthy the visit.

Lots of spooky fun for all the family at the Halloween event. Loads to look at and activities to do. Nice café with lovely jacket potatoes, toasties and soup. Enjoyable autumn day out

Interesting place to visit but would be better when a special event was on. Also unless you really want to support the museum financially, take a packed lunch with you as over £40 for 4 paninis, a pot of tea and 2 small Pepsi was a bit of a shocker.

Beautiful Experience, throw back in time to see how people lived and farmed. Lovely place for all ages. Play parks , goats and sheep. Work sheet for kids to find things around the site was fun for all the family from aged 6 to 80! Also dog friendly Cafe on site, we took a picnic so not sure re costs. An absolutely gorgeous area, fantastic people, sadly no horses but I think they're event only. Been there multiple times, and will keep going in the future!

The Chiltern open air museum is a lovely day out for adults and children. It is fascinating to look in and around the buildings and even to think how they moved them there - it must have been quite an undertaking. There is also a kids play area which my niece and nephew enjoyed (3 & 10). Besides the interesting locations, there are also activities to do (on the day I went), including clay model-making, and crafts.

Not a huge area, but there's a lot to explore and discover. Not only are the outside open, you can go inside as well! Spent 3 hours there with friend and took a lot of photos. Can only recommend.
