An incredible place, I had not imagined that something like it could exist. The conservation is excellent, each of the houses contains a perfectly represented theme and the most surprising thing is that everything works. Machinery, printing presses, trains, buses, lathes, analog switchboards, etc... You have to go see it and especially with children so that our past is not lost. Incredible volunteers, thank you so much for making us remember those times where things were very different.

Great day out for the family. Lots to see and do. We loved the bus and train rides. There are a lot of interactive displays from old (telecoms, electricity, steam engines, etc) to the latest technology. Very educational and great fun. We chose to walk throughout but you can easily use the bus or train if you prefer not to walk as there are stops dotted about. A lot of the attractions are inside so even if the weather is not great you can enjoy the day. There are a few places to buy drinks and snacks. We had lunch at the main cafe and food was very good but it can get very busy with a bit of a wait (around 20min for us) to get the food.

Amazing museum, so much to see that you can easily spend the whole day there. Would recommend going on the nature trail to see the view from the top, 200 steps to get there but worth it. Great place to visit as a couple, with kids or as a family.

This is a dog friendly gem! The museum is such a fantastic place in a beautiful location. We were here on an event day, yet it never felt over crowded as the museum covers a wide area. You can get around by bus and/or train too. If you have your dog with you, they are welcome everywhere. The volunteers are great with them. Each area has a lot of history and information. The kids visiting the museum were so engaged with each area we went into, so all ages will love this place. There is also a heritage area where you can see people actively keeping skills and trades alive. The restaurant served lovely food and afternoon snacks. It's so nice for us to be able to go out for the day and take our dog with us, and this museum was really incredible. We had such a brilliant day. All the volunteers were just so friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. We will be back for more of your event days now.

A friend and I attended Amberley Museum for a classic car show they were holding. We started that day with a very nice breakfast in the restaurant before going around the grounds. The very nice added bonus was being able to also see the museum as we went. On the grounds, there is a Classic bus to take you up to the top of the grounds. This meant that we were able to walk back towards the entrance/exit. The grounds and attractions were well maintained and presented in a great manner. At times you could be forgiven for forgetting what period you were in. Our interactions with the staff were great. They were all well presented and very happy to chat with you about the different subjects as you go round. The car show itself was great. The owners love their cars which is obvious to see. I appreciated being able to walk around and see them all. The grounds have good accessibility in general. You shouldn't find anything you can't get to from what I saw. There is the standard little shop at the end which has all the usual gifts and tokens to remember the day out. All in all, we had a great day wondering about seeing the cars and the museum.

Lovely day out in the autumn sunshine. It was like stepping back in time viewing some of the exhibits. Several were interactive with push buttons to operate. In the absence of any children the adults were busy playing. The staff and volunteers were brought the visit to life with their enthusiasm and knowledge.

My wife & I had a great visit ( our first time ) to the museum. We were both taken aback by the variety of different areas of business to look at and some of these had craftsmen available to demonstrate the skills of the trades. A really good day out. Staff & volunteers very friendly and helpful. Well worth the money.

This museum is fantastic, the location is beautiful, the exhibits and various buildings are extremely well maintained. The variety and scope is enormous, more than enough for a days visit! We will definitely be going back for more! Plus they are very dog friendly! Amazing!

It was amazing, so interesting to see how we used to live. It's very well layed out, good excess for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and happy to stop and talk (especially the man in the bike and garage) my husband was a mechanic and we are both cyclists, so he was very pleased to chat with him

A fabulous day out! So much to see and do. We spent six hours here and still didn't manage to see everything! The little train and the old open top bus are great and journeys are free so you can go as many times as you like. Loads of picnic tables dotted about and also a very nice cafe. Great choice of food and very reasonable prices. Really clean toilets. Nice little shop. Beautiful, if exhausting, nature trails but worth the effort for the views over the countryside. Thoroughly recommend.

Amberley Museum is one of those places that you go to and boot yourself for not going sooner! Something of interest for everyone, with younger folks getting to see things that they may never have seen before and older ones (like me) reminiscing about things that they worked with or had in their home in years gone by. Very dog friendly indeed and I think that this policy definitely pays off for the museum as responsible dog owners will visit, spend their money, be respectful of the museum and also go on to support the museum by visiting again and also recommending others to do the same. If other venues took this dog friendly approach, then I think they would see their visitor numbers rise. Everyone volunteering at the museum was super friendly and really helpful, giving the place a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Quite a few families were there with their children on the day we visited and it was great to see the kids really enjoying themselves but at the same time learning (whilst not even knowing they were learning!) - - a really, really good day out, HIGHLY recommended.

I went today And it was great i arrived at about midday on the train from Billingshurst (an hourly service) and found a tarmac footpath directly to the gift shop/entrance. Even though not everything was open. there was enough stuff to last you at least 2 days probably more. It is very good. please go.

Our first visit...and what a visit it was! We absolutely adored it 💖 all the staff were so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. So keen to share their interests with us. Such an amazing father's day spent there. Will tell all our friends!! ***Edit*** I just found myself thinking again about the day and do wanted to say a bit more! I had totally not mentioned the amazing AMAZING hands on museums at the end of the steam railway ride. Which lets face it...a steam railway ride is already fantastic! But as we hadn't read any of the info given to us at the beginning (thanks tragic traffic for making us late and then daughter had travel sickness in the back of the car...arriving a little later than planned and completely rattled!) we found the three fantastic museums. We spent absolutely ages in each, given we were with children aged between 2 and nearly 8, I think it is a feat! So much information and given in a way that is informative and looks fab for both small kids and big! The workshop area was also so gorgeous. We had a great chat and demo from the woodworking chap, purchasing some gorgeous 'flowers'. Amberley museum also probably the only place in the country where you can buy meaningful and eco friendly souvenirs for £1 or less. The print workshop is crammed with such gorgeous things to look at and buy. We stocked up on a pack of crafting paper and little notebooks for train journeys or restaurant visits for the kids to draw in. Honestly, the whole day was just so wholesome and phenomenal. I can't thank you enough for being such a brilliant museum. A bit far for us to be your newest and best customers (which we totally would if closer!!) but as a destination for special occasions or in the school holidays... we can't wait to come back again.

If I could give 6 stars it wouldn't be enough. This museum is more than just an attraction.. It's a labour of love for many enthusiasts that make you feel so welcome coming into their domain. We were lucky enough to come when there was a steam festival. You can smell the history. What a place!

A wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Everyone incredibly friendly and there is so much to do to cover a spectrum of interests for everyone. From the printing workshop, to the exhibition's and steam train, it makes for a delightful day out. There is a large cafe with an outdoor terrace overlooking a glorious field with some local residents (sheep!) going about their business! Fully Accessible loos both near the entrance and in the cafe.

36 acres of amazing and fascinating exhibits and friendly volunteers / staff make this a must see museum. Allow ½ - 1 day to visit. Good facilities: plenty of car parking, a yummy cafe, toilets and a historic train or bus to help you get around the site. Excellent value for money compared with other large / outdoor museums.

Really enjoyed this museum, I came for the car show but to be honest the museum won me over. There’s so much to do and everything is interactive. The train and bus rides are all included. The site is well thought out with enthusiastic volunteers. Seeing the tesla coil fire up was a highlight!

I have been visiting this museum for over 30 years, at first with my parents and grandparents and now I take my young children. It is always a great day out for all the family. Excellent exhibits, friendly and helpful staff, plenty to entertain all ages. When I found out a few years ago that they host a "Home front" event every year I have been going with my family whenever I can. Highly recommended.

Lovely place to visit. Hadn't been for a good few years, but still lots to see and do. The staff are mainly volunteers and are more than happy to tell you about the various crafts and show you how things work. The little train and the vintage buses are a real treat. There's a large cafe/restaurant on site, but also plenty of picnic spots. Pretty nature trail. Free parking.

I was so pleasantly surprised by how much fun Amberley Museum was, even with young children. The bus and train were greatly enjoyed, and even the interactive elements got me and my 5 year old talking about things like electricity, and how telephones work. There was so much to do - we got there pretty much at opening time, and left just before closing, and still didn't see it all. The stallholders were wonderful and great at answering questions. We came home with two wooden pigs and an array of our own clay creations.

Damp weather and Covid constraints precluded some aspects of this generally well presented and very interesting mainly open-air museum being fully appreciated . A wide range of early industrial, transport and rural craft exhibits, several well interpreted by knowledgeable staff, with good child friendly facilities and activities, provided an excellent and value for money day out.

Fantastic museum suitable for all ages. Lovingly looked after with some very interesting sights. Cafe is good. Large outdoor spaces between sections with a steam train and busses running around the site. Practical areas for kids (and adults) to get involved in- especially good at Christmas. Added bonus of James Bond, A View To A Kill was filmed here!

There is more than you can see in one visit and something for everyone. Nostalgia going through the display of TVs and radios as we recognised items owned by our parents or grandparents. Understandably most of the interactive displays were not in use but there was still plenty to keep the kids entertained. So much to see we bought a yearly ticket.

This deserves to be recognised as a world class museum. We were there for over 4 hours and decided that it deserved another visit another day. The narrow gauge railway takes you to the end of the chalkpit and you can wander back on foot through the exhibition sheds. Demonstrations of historic crafts and timelines of technologies. Interesting people too.

Fascinating place. Despite visiting in constant heavy rain it maintained our interest for 6 hours and we were 'outside' for most of the time. A varied selection of working displays and those working on them were very knowledgeable and keen to engage and explain their craft - we learnt a lot during the visit. Young and old will enjoy. Don't forget the train.

Great day at the museum. Took our 7 year old grandson. Rode the narrow guage railway up to the last stop & then meandered back down through the exhibits. The interactive stuff was great & plentiful from telecoms stuff, electrickery & wheel making. Some real experts amongst the volunteers. Took a picnic so didn't eat. A good day out.

Fantastic museum, lots to see and do, kept our 12 year old interested for the whole day ... and his Dad was like an excited child when he found out his favourite Bond movie was filmed there! We enjoyed an open top bus ride, train ride and steam roller ride. As it was Easter Sunday a couple of things weren't open but that didn't spoil our fun as still lots to see and there were kids activities in the printers and pottery. Restaurant had a huge choice, excellent quality and reasonably priced. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and made the day even better, and bearing in mind a lot are volunteers, they should be appreciated for their hard work. Would definitely recommend visiting.

Two fantastic trips in the last month. A fascinating place with a wealth of memory jogging exhibits for those of is above a certain age to reminisce over. A wealth of information available from the army of volunteers and practical examples from skilled crafts people. Wood turning, broom making, printing and much more. Plus there also seems to be something extra going on. We saw a host of miniature steam vehicles chugging around the place and on our previous visit the grounds were full to bursting with Alfa Romeo cars of different ages. Excellent value for entry, excellent value in the cafe on site. We will be keeping an eye out for events and will be going again for sure.

Vast, active, engaging collection of museums. Not just one, brilliant for small and big kids who like steam rollers, mini trains, old buses, detailed wood skills, old skool bikes, the evolution of electricity delivery, phones and old exchanges, fire engines, road making. Its brilliant. Needs at least 2 full days to play your way through it. Brilliant value
