I stayed at the university guest rooms many times, some 12-15 weeks worth and feel the need to warn anyone considering staying there. I stayed in most of the rooms of the Croasdale building. Most of the time the shared kitchen available smelled bad, I could never quite figure out what it was as it was kept clean so I just steered clear. The room itself was ok, most of them had a slight niggle, a socket not working, or an odd shower spray, very noisy radiators, but for the most part they were fine. My problem came with their fire alarm system. At one point they had an issue where it would beep loudly every 15 minutes or so, through the night and all day - however this was rectified after a couple days and to their credit they issued a refund for that three days. Following this, they implemented a new fire test which involved a very very loud sound in every room at 9am on a Tuesday morning. Needless to say they didn't actually tell guests it was going to happen and it proved to be a major disruption to my sleep each week as I often worked late the day before. They refused to change the timing on the system and eventually stopped replying to my e-mails about getting compensation for the terrible experience. There are loads of air-BnBs in the area, please go stay at one of them.

Lovely people to work with. Our email with info on how to get in room did not come through for some reason but it was no problem. Great breakfast at The Market too. Friendly and helpful people all over. Room was nice and plenty of hot water for cold days.
