Awesome
3-4
hour
day
out.
Nice
café
with
loads
of
seating
and
nice
food,
big
tropical
houses
packed
with
exotic
plants
with
birds
of
paradise,
a
little
bat
cave,
various
monkey
enclosures,
a
sloth,
crocodiles,
etc.,
large
outdoor
aviaries
and
enclosures
for
birds
of
prey
(owls,
sea
eagles,
etc.),
wolves,
a
tiger,
capybaras,
tapirs,
meerkats,
otters
and
so
on.
The
main
plus
over
a
larger
zoo
is
it's
mid-sized,
so
only
takes
an
hour
or
so
to
see
everything
and
it's
not
overwhelming
like
bigger
places
(we
finished
our
route
just
as
tourist
fatigue
was
starting
to
kick
in,
perfect
amount
of
stuff),
and
it's
all
very
intimate
-
you
can
see
a
lot
of
the
animals
within
arms
reach,
and
the
enclosures
are
tactically
designed
to
give
you
good
close
viewing
and
better
odds
of
seeing
(much
less
"where
is
it?"
than
in
some
zoos).
The
main
criticism
is
that
this
may
be
at
the
expense
of
the
animals'
wellbeing
in
some
cases
-
some
of
the
enclosures
looked
pretty
small,
and
I
wondered
if
a
few
(the
owls,
crocodiles
and
primates
especially)
had
enough
space
to
not
experience
stress.
But
I
admit
I'm
no
expert
on
that.
Other
thoughts:
loads
of
parking.
Staff
are
great,
really
friendly
and
positive,
volunteer
positions
are
available
too,
so
if
your
older
kids
show
a
strong
interest,
ask
about
that.
Food
and
drink
is
cheap.
Coffee
machine
is
absolutely
boss.
Gift
shop
has
plenty
of
the
obligatory
plastic
tat
to
keep
smaller
kids
amused.
Coronavirus
measures
are
well
implemented
and
simple
(bring
a
mask,
if
that's
still
relevant
when
you
read
this).
