Easy to park right by the stones and walk up. You can walk all around the stones which is good, and unlike some other similar attractions elsewhere. Quite impressive to see. We visited about half hour before sunset and was very quiet - did notice more people started to gather though as we were leaving - no doubt to try to get a good sunset photo which might make walking around freely a little awkward! Unless you specifically want to photo the sunset, would advise visiting a bit earlier.

Very interesting place. Wet and misty when I was there so not great views, though very atmospheric. Each stone seems to have its own personality - beautiful to look at and touch. Fascinating exhibit on the area and the stones (at a charge) and a lovely cafe

A magical and enchanting place set in a magnificent landscape. The visitor centre has an excellent cafe with a good selection of drinks and homemade cakes. There is also a good gift and souvenir shop with lots of interesting local arts and crafts. You don’t have to pay anything to see the stones but there is a small charge to enter the museum. I highly recommend taking an hour or so to walk to the other surrounding sites at Callanish II and III, which are just a couple of kilometres away. It is also easy to catch the W2 bus to and from the centre.

So much history! Great view at the top of the hill, and the little shop below serves a delicious fish pie. Awesome stop and I highly recommend.

A fascinating site - the stones are accessible with a short walk from the car park and even though we visited in mild drizzle the site was peaceful and you can only begin to imagine how different the world was when these stones were hauled up the hill and set in place. A word of warning though - everything here is closed on a Sunday, including the toilets, and it's about an hour's drive back to Stornoway, so please bear that in mind - the drive back to our cottage was slightly more spirited than the journey out!

Always a high point of the Isle of Lewis calendar. Very tranquil and views over stones and Loch Road, truly stunning. Cafe team always pull out the stops for a strupag and scones for the travellers, great team great service.

Stones are beautiful, just awestruck of the how much of history they've seen. Really is so impressive. If you catch them when the sun's going down it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. Cafe in the visitor centre is awesome, the vegan+gf chocolate cake was delicious!

Stonehenge in England I'd inaccessible to commonfolk. This is the next best thing.

Good cafe at the visitors center. The stones are pretty interesting and the area well maintained. A good place to visit on Lewis.

Well worth a visit, ample parking at the visitor's centre for cars, coaches and motor homes. The cafe has a good selection of beverages and treats, served by efficient and friendly staff. A short walk takes you to the standing stones and a fantastic glimpse into our distant past, the meaning of which seems to have disappeared into the mists of time.

I first visited these stones 51 years ago and returned today for another look. Memory can play tricks but they seemed a lot less impressive and certainly much less isolated and atmospheric. I'm pleased you can still walk in amongst the stones (unlike Stonehenge) but there seemed to be a lot more buildings all around and many more visitors (despite going deliberately on a Sunday when the visitor centre is closed) - certainly no visitor centre 51 years ago and we were then quite on our own. So, a bit disappointing for me but new visitors won't have that same expectation. Note that on Sundays when the centre is closed there are no toilets!

Don't miss Callanish Standing Stones II, just a few minutes away. It's smaller, but also less visited. Both magical places.

Really beautiful standing stones in stunning landscape surrounding in the shape of a Celtic cross. Well worth the walk up to see them. Really nice coffee shop and gift shop too. Very helpful friendly staff who greeted us off the coach and came out to say goodbye too, so lovely.
