William Tyndale Monument

Tourist attraction β€’ Monument

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great place with amazing views. Quite a steep 15-20 mins approach. No dedicated parking available but plenty of spaces in the area. The tower is open 24/7 and there are around 120 very narrow steps up. Staircase may get sleepery when wet or muddy but the tower seems safe at the top for kids any age. People often mention views, walk, monument, view, Great, worth, great, nice, steps, climb,

It a nice place built to honour William Tyndale. Person who translated New Testament into English. The road to the monument is placed in the nice old forest. It's suitable for mountain bikes too. At the hill you can enjoy stunning views of Wales and the Severn Bridge. Also it's worth mentioning that hill is not too steep so we were able to go the with 4 and 5 to kids.

The most awe inspiring place I've been to, I've spent a lot of time here over the years, with friends, with family - breathtaking views, and soon there will be a memorial bench fitted in memory of my son Joe Parker who spent so much time here with friends, having fun, watching the sun set, contemplating life.

Limited parking close to footpath entrance. Fairly steep climb on the footbath used. Well worth it for the views across the Severn. Marked paths for walking.

A tall monument to the printer of the first English translation of the Bible. Fabulous views from the top across to south wales and over the Cotswold hill. It’s a long way up and the spiral stairs get tighter and narrower as you climb but the view is worth it

Fantastic views from an intriguing moment, donations are asked to enter, steps are very steep and slippery when wet.

It was a shame we couldn't walk inside the monument as it was closed due to covid. A lovely with great views all around. The monument also looks lovely at night all lit up.

Big grassed open space on the ridge with the monument at one end. There is a good view from ground level because you are up on the ridge, and even better after going up about 120 steps to the top. Stairs are tightly spiralled and you go round maybe 10 times as you go up (and 10 times down). We've happily flown kites from the ridge.

William Tyndale who first translated the Bible into English from the original Greek and Hebrew text, is one such forgotten pioneer. β€œWilliam Tyndale gave us our English Bible” and β€œhe made a language for England Great space for walking and views out on a good day are fantastic all worth the climb up

Enjoy the little hike from civic center all the way up to the monument. Would be nicer during summer waking in the woods. Great view at the top, able to see Avonmouth, Serven River and Bridges to Wales.

It's a fun walk up a steepish bridleway from the road. We parked at the grave yard. Takes roughly 15-20mins and is absolutely breathtaking on a good day. The cherry on the cake is you can go up the monument and get great views too. Be aware, it's a long way up for little ones!

Absolutely breathtaking 😍 ❀️ I love it here... the views, the peace, the woods, hills, and of course, the iconic monument. Stunning walk all around.

A climb up the circular steps is rewarded with cracking views over South Gloucestershire and out to the Severn Valley. Free to enter with a suggested Β£1 donation via an honesty box. Great woodland walks close by.

My wife and I climbed the slope to the monument. We especially remember Godly William Tyndale. I think the greatest of all Englishmen as he translated the Holy Scriptures into English which has been England's blessing. Well worth a visit.

Excellent views, just amazing, both outside and inside. The climb to the top is tiring but worth it. A wonderful hike to get there through woodland in all seasons. The wide open common at the end gives the most wonderful panoramas across Gloucestershire. Each time we go there's something new to see. Highly recommended.

Incredible views all the way to Wales, including views of the river Severn. The track from the village of North Nibley is very steep! You can also approach from the west through the Westridge Woods which is longer, but less steep - follow the bridleway signs through the woods and across a large field at the top.

Great view once you get to where this monument is, I think can also got to the top of it, when it's open, for an even better view. Quite a walk to get to the top

Worth a visit πŸ‘ parked on road at cemetery, nice walk up the bridleway. Tight but good walk up the steps in it to the top. View out and about was good.

The tower was open but my legs were so sore I didn’t bother going up. The views would have been magnificent! We had walked a long way and was so impressed with the tower as it came into view. The history surrounding William Tyndale is comprehensive, amazing that it has been kept to this day.

Magnificent view from the hill top. Excellent destination for a day out with a lot of woodlands and hills to explore. Interesting history about William Tyndale. But the monument itself is closed to public at the moment due to Covid-19.

Well worth the walk up to the monument for the amazing views. Track is rugged so accessible only on foot/ cycle or horseback. A fitting tribute the the man who wrote the first version of the New Testament in English.

Β£0.50 honestly box to go up. Amazing view, this is my golf reference point. I used view it from 4 courses in the local area and I always wish I was going up there instead of going to work in the morning.

We had a great walk up to the monument on a sunny day. The tower is often unlocked. Inside are 121 steps up to the top. The steps are steep and spiral. The views are lovely from the top.
