The
food
here
is
undeniably
very
good
but
the
place
lets
itself
down
for
a
few
reasons.
1)
There
is
no
atmosphere
in
the
restaurant.
It
is
like
visiting
a
library,
people
speak
in
hushed
tones,
and
the
staff
are
overly
formal.
No
laughter,
or
buzz
which
means
that
your
experience
will
be
very
dull.
2)
3
course
set
menu
(£65pp,
no
a
la
carte)
that
does
not
allow
you
to
choose
2
courses
only,
AND
you
have
to
choose
your
dessert
when
you
order
at
the
beginning.
If
you
don’t
eat
dessert
or
have
no
room
for
it
then
tough.
You
get
the
Gallic
shrug
off.
3)
The
restaurant
temperature
on
a
summer
night
is
insufferably
hot,
especially
on
tables
up
the
far
end
past
the
kitchen
which
‘dumps’
heat
into
the
already
hot
and
breathless
atmosphere
in
the
dining
area.
You
can
feel
the
heat
blast
when
you
pass
the
service
counter.
There
is
no
air
conditioning.
4)
Wine
by
the
glass
-
hideously
expensive.
£20
for
125ml
-
please!
Sparkling
wine,
£13.50
for
125ml.
Most
restaurants
have
shrunk
their
by
the
glass
offerings
to
125ml
-
a
sign
of
the
times
alas.
Despite
the
food
quality
I
would
not
go
back
because
there
ain’t
no
laughs
to
be
had
in
there
-
a
morgue
would
be
more
lively.
