Great French restaurant. Modest outside but a place to take someone who wants that taste experience. Genuine dishes for good taster experience. Staff smartly dressed and trained to a high standard. Three course taster is £36.00. Great to say water is free here and served in a nice bottled pored by staff. How about that for attention! Good cheese selection well presented and of course cakes!!! Good wine selection to go with meal. Remember the meal l had was an introduction to French cuisine, so if you want anything different it is different pricing! Table placing is professionally set out and table service is attentive and excellent. A place to go if you want the French cuisine experience

Quite literally the best meal out we have ever had. The food was cooked to perfection, staff were friendly and polite, the restaurant was comfortable. Even with a member of the party having a dairy allergy the chef worked around it. Absolutely amazing service, thank you for making our night perfect.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Consistently excellent food, beautifully presented and with the most gracious, welcoming service. Every member of staff gets it just right. We love this place!

The food here is undeniably very good but the place lets itself down for a few reasons. 1) There is no atmosphere in the restaurant. It is like visiting a library, people speak in hushed tones, and the staff are overly formal. No laughter, or buzz which means that your experience will be very dull. 2) 3 course set menu (£65pp, no a la carte) that does not allow you to choose 2 courses only, AND you have to choose your dessert when you order at the beginning. If you don’t eat dessert or have no room for it then tough. You get the Gallic shrug off. 3) The restaurant temperature on a summer night is insufferably hot, especially on tables up the far end past the kitchen which ‘dumps’ heat into the already hot and breathless atmosphere in the dining area. You can feel the heat blast when you pass the service counter. There is no air conditioning. 4) Wine by the glass - hideously expensive. £20 for 125ml - please! Sparkling wine, £13.50 for 125ml. Most restaurants have shrunk their by the glass offerings to 125ml - a sign of the times alas. Despite the food quality I would not go back because there ain’t no laughs to be had in there - a morgue would be more lively.

What was a very strong start ended up culimating in an anticlimactic dessert course, but overall my experience at La Maison Bleue was very positive. The starters and venison were very much the stars of the show, and the staff was attentive and helpful in answering my questions. Great for a date night, especially if your partner and you are comfortable grazing off eachother's plate!

Upmarket modern French restaurant. The decor was simple but modern. Food consisted of two set price 3 course menus with 4 options for each course. There was a nice balance of options. The food was nicely presented and flavours were good if generally understated. Wine list was very interesting and we had an excellent Viognier. The service was random. We had our starters delivered to the next door table, Our mains were delivered with the wrong choice, our coffee order was taken twice and we had to ask to get served our last glass of wine before dessert. However overall pleasant enough.

Went for my son's birthday, and whilst the food is top quality, I feel slightly peeved that you only get a menu choice from 2 set menus only . Can't fault the staff, very attentive, knowledgeable and polite. Was good as a one off experience, but probably wouldn't go again.

Gorgeous experience here last night, The waiters were all super attentive and service was spot on. The food took my taste buds on a journey from start to finish, every mouthful offering a new hit of flavour and the quality was outstanding. 1000% reccomend.

Had a very enjoyable lunch. I particularly enjoyed the liver, but everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were good. I had cheese for dessert, the waiter offered to choose a selection for me but if you love cheese, like I do, be sure to ask to choose your own from the cheese trolley. I love a cheese trolley! Will definitely be back.

Food and service was excellent. The Flavours of each ingredient complimented the dishes. An extensive selection of wines. Staff gave advice on which wine would accompany the dish. The Plates of food were cooked and prepared perfectly. We was sat at the back of the restaurant. The Decor is quite dark for a small area and seating feels a little close to other diners. The Cloakroom area is in a narrow corridor opposite the busy entrance of the kitchen area where staff come and go with dishes. Maybe move the Cloakroom to an alternative area where it is less busy.

Excellent food, good service but slightly more delay between courses than we would have liked

Lifted a rainy Saturday in Bury St. Edmunds. Arrived in the rain with no booking and were made welcome. The food was delicious and service attentive. The finest French cheeses I've had in a long time and finished up with some 20 year old Calvados

Excellent restaurant, expensive but top quality. Staff were excellent. One issue however is that you have to have 3 courses. I didn't want 3 courses but had to pay for 3 courses. I dabbled with cheese and biscuits which was £6 extra and was a huge portion, much bigger than the other deserts. Why not have a smaller cheese board option in line with the 3 course policy. In fact why not have a 2 course option? Probably won't go back unless this changes despite it being a great restaurant in all other respects.

Service was so attentive and we were made to feel very welcome, really top notch Food waa also very good but one or two things just let it down hence the 4 stars. Our scallop starter was delicious with two perfectly cooked scallops, Our main course was nice however the potato cake was a little salty. Desserts were really nicely presented and on the whole good although I felt the rhubarb flavour didn't come through enough and the mint served with it rather overpowered it. The petit four were delicious and a lovely end to our meal. I would definitely dine here again if I'm in the area.

Every time we come here we love it - truly delicious food, excellent, friendly service, and reasonably priced. Very highly recommended for a special meal or just a treat!

The 3 course pre fixe menu was well worth the quality, uniqueness of options, and amount of food. There were a couple amuse bouches brought to the table as well which was a pleasant surprise. Their wine list is quite extensive with reasonably priced options for bottles and glasses. Was glad to finally try Maison Bleue and have a non pretentious French meal in Bury. The service was impeccable and we appreciate the staff working during so hard to deliver during these interesting times. Support your local business during lockdown and order their food delivery/takeout service!

Beautiful food and outstanding service. My only suggestion would be more soft drinks as some have to drive and can't drink. Wouldn't stop me going again at all, truly a wonderful experience.

A wonderful meal. Some surprisingly strong flavours, but beautifully combined. Very attentive and informed staff. A small but carefully designed venue. We will certainly come back.

Superb food, superb service, superb in every way. What a fantastic restaurant. Madame and Monsieur Cavenet and their staff deserve the highest accolades. We had our wedding dinner guests here and secretly hope Madame and Monsieur will stay in Bury for a long time.

Truly fantastic. The food was delicious at every course (I've never had rabbit like it) as well as being visually impressive in places. The service was perfect, with the staff being both friendly and incredibly attentive. There's never a risk of your wine glass being empty. Can't fault them on anything

A mix of reviews here... as with life, it is difficult to meet everyone's tastes. However, I speak as I find and really like this place. Staff are always pleasant and attentive, food is always flavoursome and good options to choose from. It's not the cheapest place to eat in Bury St Edmunds, but then it isn't MacDonald's!

My partner booked as a surprise for my birthday, absolutely first class, the welcome service, and attention to detail were superb. Food was off the scale, we both had a fabulous evening. Will definitely be back. Thank you to you all.
