We have a amazing trip on today, thanks Lynn arranged the booking for us to visit. Mike was our tour guide and very knowledgeable and so enthusiastic, took us deep down to the Paddington Williamson tunnel site, let us explored together when and how to discover, protect this amazing heritage. Let us learned more about the history and the details of every corner inside the tunnel. The sandstones, the arch, the decorations on the wall, the pottery, the secret under the cup, codd-neck bottle etc.., many many that they discovered were so amazing. Definitely worth to go

Possibly the most jaw dropping oldest and weirdest sight or attraction you'll ever see in Liverpool, the guys here dig all these tunnels out at weekends volunteers all, they've won all kinds of awards now and rightly so, fantastic insight into old Liverpool if you only visit one place in the city make sure this is it.

Cool tunnels and guide. Bring someone with you who can sing ... The acoustics are amazing in the caverns.

Great visit to the tunnels, the history and weirdness combined makes a trip worthwhile. Still very much a work in progress, the kids were entertained as well with the stories from the guide. Very impressive work has been completed by the volunteers. Loads of artifacts have been dug up. And it's very interesting listening to not only the history of the site, but a slight entry into the weird mind of Joseph Williamson and his weird tunnels he's made under half the estate.

We had an AMAZING time today at the Friends of Williamson Tunnels tour. The history/background is fascinating and it really is like stepping back in time - and the tunnels purpose still being shrouded in mystery makes it even more special. The kids and adults were asking lots of questions and Lyn took her time with everyone - she was brilliant throughout. Highly recommended to any Scousers or tourists visiting the city. I'm hoping Williamson's House front can be saved as the volunteers are very passionate and it is important for future generations that we don't lose this unique location (listen up Liverpool Council!). Thanks from the McCormick family! ❀️ John πŸ€“πŸ‘πŸ»

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough whether you are a local or a visitor of the city. Lynn was the most amazing tour guide who has been with the project from the beginning - passionate, knowledgeable, funny and engaging and we cannot thank her enough for being so supportive of our vulnerable client group. This project is run entirely by volunteers and it is quite remarkable what has been achieved in a relatively short space of time. The tour is free but donations are welcome - we were so impressed we made a donation and became members. Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work!

It was one of the BEST tours that we have ever been. Lynn was our guide and she was GREAT! A place to visit out of the normal (commercial) tours. This place was full of mystery how it was being discovered and still discovering and piecing it together after all these years. We followed on to continue with the extended tour and we didn't regret it at all. Wonderful team of people that have been running and maintaining as well as uncovering new things! Kudos for such a wonderful experience we had!

This is a fascinating place to visit as part of Liverpools heritage. At first glance you may think what is this place as on the surface it may not seem too attractive, but the magic of the experience is to be found underground. With the history of how they excavated it and what they found, I was captivated for the whole tour, led by Lynn, who was a great guide. 😁

Fascinating facts about Joseph Williamson and his tunnels. Tunnels and more tunnels, amazingly well preserved along with other artifacts. Our guide was Eric, extremely informative and gave us plenty of opportunities to take photos and ask questions. There is a lot of stairs and close spaces. Hi-vis jackets and hard hats are provided before the tour starts. You are advised to wear flat shoes and waterproof jacket as it can get wet and slippy (depending the time of year). Friends of Joseph Williamson is run by volunteers and enthusiastic historians. The tour is completely free but the group relies heavily on donations for work to continue on. Booking is necessary and they are only open on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Absolutely fascinating! So interesting and learnt so much. Can't believe how much these amazing people have done to excavate the tunnels! Tour guide was full of facts and really friendly. Our 9 year old loved it and got a certificate and badge too. Will definitely be back!

We had a fantastic tour of the tunnels from Col and Pete, and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Liverpool! They were very knowledgable and the history of the tunnels is fascinating (and mysterious). Looking forward to coming back in a few years as the excavations continue!

Absolutely amazing. Been on my to do list for a very long time and finally got to visit yesterday. This labyrinthed time capsule of history includes intrigue, craftsmanship, everyday life, and so much more. The Williamsons's House site with its lower ground sections including the Banqueting Hall, Wine Bins, kitchen (not forgetting what the Army barracks built nearby there too) and the Paddington site with its 4 levels are all eye openers. I became a member straight away and here's looking forward to assisting in the future with further digging and assistance. A big thank you to Mike for the tour and Lynn for arranging my visit to both sites and arranging to becone a member πŸ‘

Fantastic tour! Tom was our guide, he was really informative and could answer every question. You can tell that he is passionate about the Williamson Tunnels, their history, importance and their conservation. I would recommend this tour to everyone, it's safe, hard hats are handed out before the tour starts and staff are kind, professional and caring. From my first email to Lynn, until the end of the tour all the staff were pleasant, helpful and informative

Visited the house site on a Heritage Open day. The main underground chamber on this site is impressive, the walk through β€˜The Gash’ leading to the β€˜Banqueting Hall’. Why only four stars? To be honest I expected more to be excavated than is actually the case because of the rave reviews, though the amount of Earth removed is no less impressive & the lack of progress isn’t the fault of the FoWT. Red tape is holding them up apparently. Best to see this as a work in progress. When more is excavated, no doubt the tunnels will become even more impressive.

Had a wonderful underground tour learning the history of Joseph Williamson and his estate. Our guides, Tony and Laura, are diggers themselves and shared their personal experiences which really helped shape the story. The project is entirely managed by volunteers and run on donations which is quite impressive. We look forward to returning!

I enjoyed an absolutely amazing time with my fellow walkers of the St Helens Group RA when we went on an guided tour of 'Williamson Tunnels' by the 'Friends Of Williamson Tunnels' on Sunday. It was very interesting, and I will definitely go again to see how much more the volunteers have uncovered as they continue with the exploration digging they're doing, and definitely recommend anyone to go and visit and witness the remarkable sites of both the Tunnels, and remains of the former Mansion House of Williamson themselves. :)

Lovely little find. All the volunteers were really pleasant and had a great sense of humour. Our guide Mike was really interesting and informative and was fantastic with our young children. The tour itself was unbelievable and it was great to learn about the good work the charity does and make a donation to the cause!! We'll definitely be recommending and visiting again.

What a wonderful place to visit. The volunteers couldn't have done enough for us. They were wonderfully patient with all the questions our children had for them. The Tunnles themselves were simply amazing, they have clearly worked tirelessly to bring them back to life. I couldn't recommend a visit enough.

Better than the Beatles, bigger than the Liver Buildings, on par with the underground city of Derinkuyu; the Williamson tunnels are Liverpool's most under rated asset. The tour is brilliant, we had a lovely guide named Peter who is a font of knowledge on the history of this great City; highly recommended.

The tour was really interesting and unique, with lots of great stories about the items found in the tunnels over the years and their history. Such a lovely project run by great volunteers!

I visited today with a group of friends and I was not disappointed! Just an amazing place to see and find out the history of from our guide Tom, who was a font of knowledge. Really glad I finally got to cross this off my to do list, but I think I've caught the bug from Tom our guide, and I'm now looking for books by local historians to read up more on this amazing place.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Nice, quiet, small farm in city. Friendly staff, children really enjoyed it. Was not able to meet all of the animals today, but hopefully soon. Easily accessible by car, bus or train. Great inexpensive day out with kids.

😠 Very bad management. Lack of communication. They don’t know how to communicate with vulnerable people who are living there. Manager Amy McCann is very irresponsible and and rude person not suitable for this job . You need to have someone who can make People feel. Safe who Are mostly vulnerable...
