Great little cinema. Well stocked bar, clean facilities, friendly staff. A mix of seating in the screen is nice, offering settees as well as standard seats.

An independent, volunteer run, three screen cinema with a fabulous, quirky bar. Great ticket and drink prices. Drinks can be taken into the cinema. Very comfy seats. Would use this place instead of my local multiscreen every time.

Brilliant cinema. Been to see Rise of Gru at tea time. Seats are nice and big and comfy and staff very helpful. Will never enter another franchise again.

My wife likes to go to the cinema. When asked "what's on?" she only bothers to look at the JamJar. Of course the film is important but so is the surroundings. The whole place is welcoming. Staff, cafe, screens... Its the whole package of enjoyment rolled into one.

Lovely cinema, friendly team working here, you can take your drinks with you to watch the movie and it's very reasonably priced. Highly recommend visiting.

Groovy little venue. Upstairs or lift available. Reasonably priced bar. Social distancing currently in place, so less seats occupied. Can book online easily beforehand. We sat in the sofas at front, quite close and to side of screen so may be better to choose usual seats if you get an achey neck.

Brilliant little cinema and a real gem of a place to have where you live. We use it as much as we can. Sitting in the big comfy seats watching a film with a large red wine and a bag of sweets............doesnt really get any better does it?? Staff are always a delight, the pricing idea is great and we and our kids all love it.

Love this cinema - it's so good having a local reasonably priced cinema on our doorstep. The new screen and bar area are fabulous and the staff are so friendly.

A Lovely small cinema, cheap prices, and nice community feel, although we had our experience slightly tainted by 2 drunk ladies talking throughout the film and texting with their phones not on silent, they then proceeded to leave a quarter of the way through The Whale stumbling out with a bottle of wine in hand! Can you try to stop visibly drunk customers from accessing the screens as it's a real shame such a nice venue gets ruined by the likes of drunks who clearly don't respect cinema etiquette!!

Amazing, cute place! Love going here. Parking a little of an issue, but what do you expect for the area. Staff are always fantastic and helpful. Seats are comfortable, and some theatre rooms only hold about 20ish seats. So super cosy. Highly recommend for date nights with partner or friends.

Love the jam jar. Its always clean and friendly. You can pick 3 levels of payments, so even if you are hard up, you can afford to go. They always show the most recent films, and the treats are not extortionate either.

On my first visit I was truly impressed with the overall quality of the multiplex cinema. Seats like armchairs with a view of the screen easily seen above the heads of the folks in front. Even has a bar and lounge with excellent staff who are always happy to help. Seat prices are very reasonable and affordable. Membership is available with many perks. Just go and try, I'm sure you will be impressed.

Lovely small cinema with super comfy seats. Friendly staff, good quality refreshments. Can sell out quickly for popular shows (my minimal experience anyway) so check their website if you can.

Excellent neighbourhood cinema showing a variety of Hollywood and arthouse films in cosy auditoria. Friendly staff, a nice little bar and sitting/relaxation space as well, if you don't want to watch anything.

First time visiting after living in the area for a while. Had a lovely gin and tonic before watching Glass Onion. Staff are great and it's lovely to be in a small screen. It did feel like the rows were very narrow so if someone needed to leave for the toilet for example they had to clamber over everyone's knees to get out. I'd recommend booking the front row to avoid this!

Love it, friendly, clean, and value for money. I'd be comfortable to come here on my own, too. It's also easy to book online. I've never seen so many films since The Jam Jar opened.

Great little cinema with nice variety of snacks and drinks inside. Great for a quiet drink on an evening before watching a film. Recommended to adults and families. Location also great as right on the center of whitley bay.

Fabulous, quirky, loved it. Got sofa seat at the front and was so comfy....first time ever 2hr30min film didn't feel long at all... so much leg room. If disabled, lift up to first floor, seat at front. Staff were so friendly and helpful

Lovely small cinema in the centre of Whitley Bay. Staff are friendly, prices for refreshments are good. Seating is comfortable with good view of the screen.

Wonderful cinema on my doorstep we are regulars here . The staff are so friendly and thoughtful the choice of drinks at the bar is fantastic and the seating in the cinema is so comfortable a real home from home experience. X

Wide seats. Nice atmosphere. No pressure. Cosy. Great addition to Whitley Bay. Downside surround sound too noisy for us oldies for a small cinema. Could be turned down a bit. Cup holders could do with being a brighter colour. You cannot see them in the dark and can easily knock your glass off them.

Absolutely safe and well organised. Was afraid to go to the Ball and Boe streaming which has been cancelled since march. All seats spread out. Staff on the mark with instructions friendly and helpful. Do not hesitate to go. Covid app check in. Well recommended. Thank you Jam Jar.

First time visit to The Jam Jar today to see Joker. Loved this place! Friendly staff, comfortable seats amazed at what they've done with this space fantastic!! One small thing, my friend and I sat and had a drink before the film it was gorgeous outside and the view from upstairs would have been lovely, but all the blinds were closed so we sat in semi darkness. Would have enjoyed our drink better with a view. Apart from this really great!

I visited the Jam Jar cinema last week to see the film 1917. As I hadn't been to a cinema for many years I wasn't sure of what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything except one thing was brilliant. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the auditorium (number 3) was compact and tidy, the seats were spacious and with plenty of leg room and the screen and sound system were more than adequate! The only slight problem was the lack of a lift but I understand that that problem is in the process of being rectified. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and even though I live near the Angel of the North l look forward to my next visit in the near future! Best of luck to Jam Jar cinema and Thank You! David Scott.

Knowing it's community based wins hands down anyway. The added bonus were amazingly comfy seats and being able to take your drinks in. Its a more intimate setting which is what makes it unique. The screen is big enough to really benefit from the surround sound. The sound volume was also perfect. I notice a comment made on here about adverts before the film...they are considerably short compared to larger cinemas and also half the price of them.

Jam Jar is a fantastic local cinema that is a part of the culture of Whitley Bay. I've since a number of films at the Jam Jar over the years and it's always a great experience. The ticket prices are very reasonable for a privately owned cinema (cheaper than your big chains), and you can get a tasty local beer to take in with you. Fully recommend it.
