No doctors on throughout the day but still wasting money keeping it open when they can't treat people. Waited two hours to been seen with an appointment after 6pm as they only had one doctor in out of hours. Very rude receptionist making patients wash their hands as she said the hand sanitiser doesn't work. Why does the hand sanitiser not work?

Had to go there twice a month thanks to very inefficient nurses the first time. The receptionist was fine, but the GP and assistant nurses didn't seem to know what they were talking about or doing. The nurses forgot to give me leaflets explaining how to treat my ankle injury, and how to self-refer to the specialist unit for ligament scanning when they were supposed to. They also didn't explain much about self-treatment, even though I asked. Now I understand why my MIL refused to give birth there.

For a normally busy hospital it was very quiet but I think that was due mainly due to the time of my appointment. Cleanliness was excellent, safety paramount for both staff and patients. If you have to need to use this hospital I have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody needing medical treatment. Thank you Northumbria Healthcare.

Botched surgery, my c-spine, spinal cord and brain were damaged during ACDF surgery in January 2021 not only did I sustain damage but the surgery hasn't even been carried out correctly no fusion of the facets, osteophytes pressing on thecal sac, end plate 2mm from bone, Osseous foraminal and no bridging bone in the disc space.. I was put back on ward 10 after surgery, when I raised concerns that I had new symptoms with the surgeon he walked off and told the staff he wasn't near that bit !! My subsequent treatment on the ward was nothing but neglect and abuse. The surgeon and trust management have lied to me, told me surgery went well and if I want further treatment or a second opinion to go to a different trust. I have serious concerns for the safety of patients under wansbeck general hospital and Northumbria NHS trust.

Lady at receptionist seemed like the type who was just desperate to go home and complain about her day, the nurse who I spoke to and who found a GP on my behalf was a lovely lady who was accomodating and friendly but efficient and helpful. The GP was the most obnoxious, arrogant and unpleasant man I've spoken to since COVID. Went on a long tangent of my symptoms and how there was nothing he could do without even a pause to 'consult' or discuss it with him, he glimpsed at the form the nurse had filled out and any blanks he just appeared to mentally fill in himself. Even if I was on the brink of death I'd rather walk to Hexham hospital.

Just come home from ward 15 after day surgery. I received brilliant care. All staff involved in my care were absolutely fantastic. They were kind, compassionate, reassuring and professional from admission to discharge! The hospital itself was also very clean and hygienic.

Ward 15 (Day case surgery) were amazing yesterday! I can’t thank the theatre team, nurses & anaesthetic team enough. I was so nervous but they made the experience do able, lots of smiles and laughter along the way. Never thought I would go into theatre laughing. Just wish I could remember all the names to thank them personally. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately our appointment had to be cancelled twice previously and yesterday they were not expecting us due to a new outsourced call centre causing chaos with all the bookings, however a lovely receptionist managed to sort us out, she was so understanding. The lady who saw us regarding my dads hands was extremely professional, patient and understanding. A credit to the NHS.

Well outdated and run down in some parts, disabled parking outside out patience during week days has been taking over by a fruit and veg truck, I understand you want people to eat healthy but when you are disabled and there are no parking available near there for your appointment you end up doing a full tour of the car park to get to your appointment using crutches it's Very annoying and frustrating, how about take up none disabled parking instead, there are lots of them , but not lots of the disable parking to start with . Disgraceful really as this hospital is the main hospital for orthopaedics . Clearly profits are most important to someone.

Medical and ward staff do an amazing job for us patients, 1 thing out of their control is the effect of heat on ward 10 bone infection unit , no air conditioning and just fans in corridors, not great when you are already recovering from surgery !

We are new to the area and I visited my GP about a painful knee. He ordered an X-ray and after a little wait I rang Wansbeck to see if they had the form. The answer phone message said they had a drop in clinic so I popped down. Having never been there before I parked up, went to main reception who directed me to X-ray. They found me on the system, completed two X-rays and I was driving out of the car park 18 mins later (car park is free for the first 20 mins). Having worked in hospitals my entire working life, I was impressed!!! I have since had 2 Physio appointments and they have both been on time and very helpful. This hospital gets a big 👍from me.

Can't thank all the staff in Ward 15 enough. I had an afternoon urology related procedure yesterday which I was very nervous about. They were all extremely comforting about it all and helped to keep me calm whilst laughing all the way. Also a massive thank you to Mr Moon, Andrew, Lizzie for being amazing through the surgery whilst I was kept awake!.. and finally to Annabel in recovery for being a bundle of laughs.

The hospital itself when it comes to care is amazing, my 1 star comes from one of the staff members putting a safeguarding concern in to social services, advising social that I left my children in the car while I took my youngest to get looked at. My other children weren't even with me! They were at home with their step dad! A false accusation that can be so dangerous, malicious! I give no indication at all that my other children were with me, I had no reason to because they were at home safe! I was not asked where my other children were, I had no reason to justify where my other children were! I am waiting to hear from PALs, because this false accusation is disgusting.

My fiancé was in at 8am this morning to the walk in clinic and I can’t thank the staff on today enough! He could hardly breathe after being told by his GP that it was just the after effects of covid, to sit upright and he didn’t have an infection. He was seen immediately and put on oxygen, then a nebuliser, he had his bloods taken and a chest X-ray- very thorough! He’s home on an inhaler, antibiotics and steroids and feeling much better. We have strict instructions to rush him to Cramlington if he drops below 90% oxygen. Honestly so thankful to the kind and understanding staff on today 💕

Incredible care and service from every single member of the Day Surgery/Oral Surgery team. Effective, caring, passionate - felt so at ease from walking into the ward to leaving and can’t fault a single thing.

I can’t thank the staff at Wansbeck hospital enough for their fantastic service on Monday 30th October particularly the lovely gentleman who welcomed us to the hospital and gave us directions and to the nurses and consultant in the gynaecology outpatients particularly Kaylee who was amazing and put me completely at ease. Thank you so much . Val Robson

I've had to go here twice and I cannot fault the service. The staff are fantastic and the service is very well organised. They checked me in at 1.30 and triaged within minutes. They set up an appointment with a Dr and told me to go home andcome back at 4pm. The little ngest wait was an hour. I think that's fantastic and they sorted me out with antibiotics and good advice. Better that my GP by far.

Review submitted by David Palmer. I would like to proffer a huge compliment to all NHS staff involved in my treatment at Wansbeck General Hospital as a day patient in ward 15. All involved were kind, considerate with lots of laughter and made my stay there the best it could be. All involved are a credit to the NHS and if Carlsberg ever did day surgery wards it would be based on Ward 15 at Wansbeck!

Due to incredibly bad health anxiety, I've had to visit the walk-in centre a lot recently and all of the staff there have been AMAZING. They didn't treat me like a burden or a waste of anyone's time and fully acknowledged and respected my health anxiety. One doctor even made me cry because of the sheer amount of kindness he showed me. I was treated like a human being, and not a pain in the backside and I'm more grateful for that than they'll know. Thank you.

I’ve been in many NHS hospitals and seen the horrors. But the staff and the organisation here are absolutely fantastic. So helpful, so caring. An example for the rest of the NHS. But it’s the staff that make it exceptional.

Refered to the Urgent Care Unit by NHS 111 because my own GP surgery had no urgent appointments left. It's an hours drive from home so Berwick needs a unit like this. Anyway, everyone I dealt with was very patient, professional and down-to-earth. I had three consultations in quick succession and was out with a prescription in less than an hour. The staff put me at ease with their friendly demeanour, I couldn't fault them or ask for nicer people. Many thanks...

On entering the hospital there is plenty soap dispensers there all over the place you can disinfect your hands every 5 to 10 feet. The nurses were terrific thank you for being so respectful ❤x

Horrible service I rang them and was in a queue for 6 mins for them to answer to then put me through to the maternity section and the phone was ringing for 10 more mins trying to get through and no one answered it then put me back to the main desk and I tried explaining no one was answering and the woman just hung up the phone on me. This is a horrible hospital.

Today I attended the Medical Day Unit for blood tests. The staff were amazing, and because I have many fears of needles, the Sister in charge explained everything and was so grateful that she was there ❤. Job done with no issues at all. However, there was a lady there that kept me in conversation as she had overheard my problems. The staff and patients deserve a round of applause.

A very elderly relative was admitted for what sadly turned out to be end of life care at the beginning of 2022. We were more than happy regarding the way he was looked after, given the additional pressure experienced by staff because of Covid.
