I care for an elderly relative who can no longer walk and needs a wheelchair, and last week I took her to this Diabetic ward for an appointment. While I was waiting for her outside the room with the wheelchair and her handbag, I was aggressively confronted by a nurse who demanded to know who I was and what I was doing there. She was clearly disgusted by my presence as a person of colour, and felt she was entitled to interrogate me. She has absolutely no right to aggressively interrogate members of the public who are quietly minding their own business waiting for loved ones who are getting treatment. Things are stressful enough without having to deal with random aggressive racists who really let down the other staff who were welcoming, friendly, and professional.

No problems with the hospital. There was a receptionist to help if needs. But have been before, just going to the Sanderson suite again. Just doing a drop off so the parking was free as it was within the 20 minutes. Thank you for simple and easy process in helping with my girlfriend’s father.

Visited the Burney Breast Unit @ St Helens hospital this morning and this is by far the best NHS hospital I’ve been to, it’s well laid out with colour coded departments, is clean & the staff were so lovely.

Paul, Suzanne and Pam on Endoscopy are brilliant, and also the nurses i seen as i went in and out. All were lovely health professionals. I was treated with dignity and respect throughout my visit. I was made to feel welcome. One of the nicest departments I've been to in any hospital. You all do a brilliant job. Thankyou so much!

I've always found the hospital easy to navigate due to it's colour zones and signpost. Its filled with helpful staff who are always happy to help. Parking can sometimes be an issue so you need to plan extra time to find a space.

I had my appointment with colorectal surgeon dr. Samad. He was not very friendly and wasn't listening properly. Felt like he was rushing everything and the most important thing i went to discuss and atleast 3 times reminded him to send my mri scan results immediately to my surgeon which he said he will do it asap he had the results in his hands at that time, but after 4 weeks i was informed he never done it and then i called the hospital and his secretary told me that it's been sent and the next day i become to know that she was lying so i had to call my gp numerous time to send the results to my other surgeon and finally my gp done it for me. He was suppose to give me an appointment with the nurse which was urgent but it's been 6 weeks now i haven't heard anything.

Went today. Very anxious for gastroscopy and colonoscopy. These days sometimes you dont feel valued as a nurse which i have been for 35 years. Cant tell you how proud i was of the endoscopy team as a whole. I was not only cared for .i felt safe reassured and even made to feel like one of the team. I cant prsise you enough. Thankyou you❤❤❤🤗professionalebecaring beau b

Check online before using this hospital the reviews are not good. Unless you have broke a bone or bleeding to death they are no help. Also you have to keep pushing for appointments that take months to be booked .

Blood clinic ONLY 2 ROOMS OPEN on arrival I'm ticket 691 but only upto 624 Not easy taking blood as veins can collapse but TWO ROOMS. Where is the management on how to handle influx of patients. Watching poorly people being turned away due to over 1 hour wait. No good at all. Someone could have been turned away with a life threatening illness. No seating left sick people standing Management needs to sort this

After attending several hospitals within Liverpool and Knowsley trusts I have got to say this is the best out of the bunch. Always stick to appointment times and don’t leave you waiting for hours. Although staff are equally stretched and stressed they are always friendly and happy to help. Oncology and endoscopy staff are attentive and caring. All have taken excellent care of my grandmother. Great hospital.

Attended today with my brother for an MRI scan. His appointment was 2.15pm. I told the receptionist my brother was not feeling well due to a recent operation. He was seen immediately so he could go home to rest. Fantastic service with lovely friendly staff.

Had appointment with pain management yesterday. Lovely clean hospital which was colour coded so easy to find your department. Very kind nurse and lovely Dr who explained everything and was so caring and understanding. I moved to Hindley from London last year and the difference between the health care is second to none here! Couldn't fault it!

My experience at the endoscopy unit was excellent.. From booking in to the care I was given throughout the procedure. Julie, Banu and Neil where calming, reassuring and made the process as easy as possible.I would reassure anyone due to attend that they will be treated with care and made to feel as comfortable as possible. Thank you.

Yesterday I was admitted as an outpatient for cataract surgery after waiting only 8 weeks. From start to finish I could not have been treated better. Staff friendly and reassuring, operation fascinating. Today I removed the eyepatch and the resulting vision is fantastic. Thank you NHS.

I recently had an appointment with the audiogy department of this hospital. I want to say a great big heartfelt thank you to the reception staff and, particularly, the audiologist. Excellent patient care from start to finish. I was made to feel comfortable and at ease. At the end of the test I was given replacements for my existing hearing aids. These are discreet and are a great improvement. I can't praise the audiologist enough. I won't mention names but I hope you know who you are. Thanks very much.

Both my Dad and my partner have recently had procedures at the Sanderson Suite at St Helens Hospital (my Dad a hernia op. and my partner trigger point injections). Both have been singing the praises of staff ever since and they can’t believe how fantastic their experiences were. They expressed how well the clinic was run, how efficient the staff were and how safe they felt. Staff were attentive, consistent in their approach and both were offered a lot of reassurance throughout their procedures.

I came to The Burney Breast Screening Unit last week and was blown away by the efficiency of the fantastic staff at the hospital (from the reception team to the radiographer to the main reception and also the car park staff). I was in the hospital for a grand total of 12 minutes from start to finish and the normally unpleasant mammogram was completed quickly and efficiently. I went to pay my car park and l had misplaced my ticket. The reception team, together with car park staff, sorted it without issue. The overall service was outstanding. 10/10 St Helens Hospital. Thank you.

I'm a very nervous patient and have never had an operation before so I was very anxious. The staff on the Sanderson suite were so supportive and understanding and really limited how scary the experience was. My anaesthetist and the nurse who looked after me when I got back to the ward in particular were incredible and helped me through it. Unfortunately I was a bit overwhelmed so I don't remember their names, but I really appreciate their patience and kindness. The only person I had a negative situation was the woman who called me out from the waiting room who really set off my anxiety from the start. I'm not going to lower my score because of one bad apple though. Overall some of my fears of operations are alleviated from this experience so thank you.

Unhelpful lady on main reception regarding parking . First time to the hospital and a blue badge holder I’m on a lot of meds and get easily confused . Wasn’t sure of the procedure and where to park . Brought my blue badge to scan and she just kept saying ‘ the barriers are up !’ - obvs I know what that means in general but didn’t know what she was referring to regarding parking ! When I kept saying ‘I don’t know what you mean ‘ she said ‘ the barrier is broken so I don’t need to scan’ . Will say that fgs ! And also when a patient arrives to ask a question try this .. smile and ask how can I help you ! Seriously some people ..

I had an appointment for a hip replacement assessment 8.1.23. I was seen by a nurse, referred for an x-ray, was seen by the consultant and have been referred for a replacement hip. Total time 20 minutes. The systems in place are extremely good, the staff were all efficient and friendly and the overall atmosphere is wonderful.

Had an appointment for gastroenterology. Was told not to eat anything 6 hours before going. Got there. Waited 45 mins. Got shouted in to a doctors office, asked 3 questions & that was it. Now i live a fare way from this hospital. £20 in a taxi there & £20 home. For something that could've been done over the phone or in a letter. 2 mins I was in that office. 45 mins waiting. £20 in a taxi there & £20 home. Absolutely ridiculous. Only been there twice and can honestly say is the worst hospital on a communication level that I've ever been too. Won't be going back there.

My wife had to attend for minor treatment, which as usual was brilliant ,one of the appointments was on Saturday 30th October I intended to drop her off but arriving at the hospital ALL spaces in the drop off zone were full including the ambulance spaces by people who had parked there, the result being 4 cars including mine blocking the road dropping off patients. For those inconsiderate individuals there is a clue it says “ Drop Off Zone “ not Parking.

I first came to this hospital for a blood test last month seen on time and staff very friendly, but my main experience here came only this Tuesday when I had to see a consultant urologist called Ms hughes after being referred by my g.p. After having pain and swelling when urinating for quite a few months, now when ms hughes calls me through she asks me quite a few questions about my symptoms and after I tell her i then mention about a rather harrowing experience that happened to me when I'd seen another consultant at a different hospital and had difficulty in understanding everything he was saying. Then after examining me ms hughes then tells me in perfect English exactly what the problem is and I will require surgery to correct it and runs through a list of my options, then I ask her who will be performing my surgery as I'm extremely nervous about this procedure so she then tells me it could be herself or one of her team, so I ask her could she herself do the procedure as I feel totally at ease with her unlike the last consultant I had seen months earlier to which she replys of course and puts me down as urgent, now I'd just like to say thank you to st helens hospital for having me as a patient and a special thanks to Ms hughes herself for all her kindness and understanding and electing to do the procedure for me herself.

Oh wow thought I was back at school the way I was spoken too this morning, myself and my husband are new to the area and went for bloods organised by new doc surgery, where we lived before there was a ticket machine at the hospital, so we proceeded to go through a door to be frogmarched out and told "you haven't been called have you, sit back in there until you are called, then was about to sit down and husband was called but not me, so asked if my appointment was there she says you will get called with attiude, then a lovely nurse from a different door called me in, so different in her manners. This gets a 2 star as it is a nice hospital and the other nurse had some manners.

Had to visit the Sanderson Suite today, from North Wales, with my 90yr old mother for a plastic surgery appointment. We found the hospital staff very caring and helpful. The hospital was clean and tidy, the car parking charges were reasonable and the drop off zone was very handy. I am investigating an urological problem and had to go through a quite uncomfortable procedure, but Lynn, the nurse, was absolutely superb. She makes you feel relaxed in the most unusual of the circumstances and a genuine caring feeling emanated from her. She also took the time to talk to me about the test results and gave me amazing tips on how to progress with the treatment. I cannot thank her enough for all she has done. Totally recommend this hospital.

Attended St Helens hospital as a walk in on at least five occasions, the latest being 26/11/2020 being in lock down. The hospital is incredibly clean, well signposted, polite and helpful reception, always will organised, on this occasion was a GP referral x-ray, the department was welcoming, and wait time was within 15 minutes, very good x-ray operator. As a guide from point of entering to leaving parking was limited to £1 so suspect in and out under 1hr. One of the best hospitals Ive ever attended, all credit to both staff and management.

I had a brilliant experience having bloods taken at St. Helens hospital, as much as you can having a needle put in you lol, I went at 10.45am took ticket 605 I thought oh no here goes a few hours waiting. But I waited 15 mins tops included bloods being taken. I have difficulty have bloods due to deep veins but the nurse had them done in about 9 seconds. Would highly recommend as other bloods department’s have had difficulty taking my bloods.

It was a long wait. Nurses and medical Staff were very diligent and good. Medical staff were lovely. Really good. Got 4 stars as all patients got called in at the same time at midday an hour and a half before the doctors come. Didn't see why this long wait time was required. They advised when turning up waiting would be between 2hr-6hr. I went in about 14:30. Again Staff were lovely and good.

The service is horrible! Waste my time!!!! And when I requested them to book ambulance they never give answer I and my dad was waiting for 4 hours, finally the ambulance never come up, I have a doubt the endoscopy department even called ambulance for my dad or not! What a amazing experience I received today at the Mohs day unit. My consultant Miss Rakhee Nayar was absolutely fabulous . As a patient I was very anxious and overwhelmed with my recent diagnosis, however Miss Rakhee demonstrated empathy and respect towards me. Dr Rakhee was very professional and knowledgeable and answered all my queries that I had. Patient dignity and respect was applied throughout my assessment and the planning of my treatment I felt consulted and involved promoting patient choice. I now feel less anxious about my up coming surgery because I have faith and trust in Miss Rakhee as a expert consultant along with patient care . I would also like to thanks all the other staff that for the meeting and greeting as they was all very welcoming and professional and when feeling anxious this approach feel supports patient care Thanks and keep safe

I just wanna say HANNAH the lovely person is really credit to St Helens hospital endoscopy unit. I have been problem with my appointment and she was amazing with her help and advise. NHS should employ more people like Hannah not the one they just got out of a bed and they can NOT be bothered with you and you can see its all about hours and pay for those people. Excellent service as always in the Skin cancer clinic - Rachel the nurse I see each time is friendly and professional - cannot fault in any way. If there is one issue - you cannot reply to the text you are sent following an appointment

I have been attending this Hospital since it first opened the New part of the hospital, And through my personal experience I rate this Hospital ten out of ten. it's a fantastic place with brilliant staff and all the departments are colour co ordinated so you can find the clinic your attending very easy, a lovely clean modern hospital.

I can’t thank the staff at Burney Breast clinic enough. I was feeling stressed after finding a lump, shortly after it surfaced as an abscess. I made an ignorant assumption that because it was benign, I would be referred back to the GP for treatment of the abscess. How wrong was I? The fluid contained a rare bug that not many doctors have heard of. I might have felt a bit scared the way the bug is portrayed in the media but throughout diagnosis it’s the staff at the breast clinic that have eased my mind and gone above and beyond, keeping me informed with updates from microbiology, keeping a close eye on me and throughly investigating to make sure I was receiving the correct care even though it’s a bug they are not used to seeing. Not only did Jane and Tracey Scott take time to ask about my home life and consider the ramifications of my treatment ect when I have a child with extra care needs, but they also ensured that I was really well looked after. I was admitted to hospital after the clinic wasn’t happy with how the bug wasn’t responding to antibiotics, and they ensured I was admitted. and the breast team came to see me and kept the ward updated keeping me on as their patient. They have been amazing, I’ve never had the type of care before that is so personalised. Thank you all at the team!
