This doesn’t go towards all the staff but the staff that was working in the A&E department are disgraceful, I swear they think people go in there because they enjoy sitting in a waiting room for hours. No compassion or respect was shown and they don’t seem to be bothered unless your on your last breath and I’m not the only person to have said this. Most of the time they insinuate that you’re imagining the pain or that your telling lies until they do test and find out otherwise now I’m not telling them to diagnose every little thing wrong with people, I’m just asking that they show a bit of respect and treat you with dignity. I know there’s signs all over hospitals telling people to respect the hospital staff but giving some back would be nice. Hospital is where so many people feel vulnerable and exposed and to be greeted and treated like they couldn’t care less or that your just overreacting is wrong on so many levels. Some individuals problems can be life changing to them and the people around you are those that help either make It a traumatic experience or a bearable one.

We had our 2nd child born here. We arrived at 8pm on Saturday evening after breaking waters. We were taken straight to a quiet suite, got amazing attention and support from the start. Couldn't fault a thing about the whole experience.

Waiting 4 hours only to be told we're nit priority.. The receptionist could do with a course in Manners and respect. I won't be returning here I'll go Doncaster in future where you are treated like a human.

I WAS admitted to A &E and found them great. Then moved to C1, again great. Caught Tac and moved to isolation. Felt is been abandoned to palliative. Totally ignored. Complained to ALPS and again totally ignored. Need not changed or even made for 8 days. Would not recommend to worst enemy

I'm sad to be writing this review as we lost our mum in the early hours of this morning. I just wanted to say that the Bassetlaw hospital team have been amazing. Mum was admitted on Thursday night and soon lapsed into unconsciousness. The doctors and nurses, from the word go kept me updated with what was happening. She was transferred to ITU and our access was never restricted, so someone was with her at all times. The team in ITU were so empathetic and kind, we couldn't ask for more. You know they were feeling your pain. The relatives room was superb and nothing was too much trouble. The lady who kept the room clean was lovely and worked round us. On the night my mum was admitted, my phone power was down to 12% and the receptionist was super kind and found me a charger. From start to finish, the level of care was superb. Thank you x

The nurses on SCBU are the most amazing people we have ever met, and a special shout out to Sally for her amazing people skills! This review does not reflect on any of the nurses in SCBU. They really cared for our daughter and they updated us whenever they found out something new. However, the doctors are really letting this hospital down, the communication is terrible, they make appointments and don't turn up, we ask them questions about our newborn daughters health and they laugh... they force a C-Section at night when a consultant has specifically said to not to until later in the pregnancy. We have never been so scared in oir lives and we want an explanation as to why we have been failed so much by the doctors at bassetlaw hospital. Again, the nurses in SCBU were brilliant. But the "on shift" doctors have been appalling the last 5 weeks. Our daughter was born 4 weeks ago. It's been hell! If you are able to, please do not have a baby in bassetlaw hospital unless you are guaranteed to be looked after by Sally and her team of nurses. They saved our baby. Doctors did not care.

This is a wonderful hospital. All the staff from cleaners to consultants are very friendly and can’t do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible. And the food is good. The care is excellent. 10 out of 10

Had been referred by my GP for an x-ray. I live about half an hour's drive away from the hospital, my appt was for 6.50 pm. I turn up a bit early, as I do for most appts. Being an evening appt reception was shut. Pressed the buzzer as advised by the notice on the wall, male answered and asked for my name and whether I had come via my gp or a&e. I stated my name and said via gp. Was advised to go through the doors into xray dept and take a seat. This I did. Various patients arrived after me and were called in. After this happened about 3 times, I queried with a member of staff whether I should have given my letter in and she advised no, that's for you to keep. I explained I was concerned I had been forgotten. It was difficult to find a member of staff as they just called out a patient's name and scurried back into the xray room. Well, by 7.15pm and another 3 patients going in before me I then managed to question the chap who came out for yet another patient whether I had been forgotten, he asked my name and said I hadn't been checked in!! I was finally seen about 7.30pm. The chap who did the xray was friendly and the xray took all of 5 minutes and I can only surmise it was him I gave my name to over the entry system before I went in, as all other staff I did briefly see were female. I know NHS staff are busy but a proper staffed reception for the evening would have helped on this occasion.

Absolute disaster. Came into an emergency a&e with extremely bad abdominal pain. Needed to wait for 2 hours then they took a blood sample and told me if I want to know the results I need to wait 3 more hours, which I did and after 3 hours they told me that my blood is completely fine. The doctor didn't even check me properly at the end he told me to go home when at the time I can’t barely move I just started to cry because of the pain. He then told nurses to give me the pills from STOMACH, I didn’t even needed such medication because I haven’t felt any stomach pain( I felt pain in my lower belly area), when I asked about the medication “why do I need to take it if I don't have a problem with my stomach ’’ - he just pretended that he don’t understand me and told me to go home. How is this man working in this place it makes me afraid... After two days I went to a private doctor who when diagnosed me with an ovarian cyst. I needed surgery ASAP. I still feel the fear of the doctors because of this night, I came to get help but they did not helped me. It’s a shame that there is a doctors like this.

My Sister in law went here to have an operation to fuse her ankle. When she was just taken in to theatre she nearly died on the table through lack of oxygen. Now she is having constant seizures and maybe on meds for the rest of her life now. They have sent her home without even making sure she has the correct meds for the condition she now has. This hospital is the worst I have ever known, if you can or have a choice please for your safety go somewhere else………

I took my son-in-law to A&E as he had chopped through his hand with an axe it wasn't busy and he was seen quite quickly, they couldn't just stitch it so he has to have an operation on it but the staff were very good and so was the plastics doctor and he should be in tomorrow for the operation. Very pleased with the service there.

Colposcopy unit 24/02/2923 I was nervous about the procedure and everyone put me at ease and allowed me to decide if I wanted sedation or not. I had a cannula in place but managed with gas and air largely due to the compassion shown me by all of the staff. Thank you

On 15th March 2023 I visited cardiac/respiratory dept for an electrocardiogram. I was called in before my appointment time for the procedure. It was carried out professionally and with care. Everything was fully explained and also where we go from here. The Nurse who carried out the procedure was excellent and couldn't have been more helpful ..

Parking is awful and expensive, mix of modern and old buildings. I found some of the food wasn't the best as a patient. They fixed me so I'm grateful. Very good/efficient ultrasound department for pregnancy.

I just wanted to leave a review on my visits to the Dermatology department at Bassetlaw. I have nothing but praise for Dr Dina Keen she is exceptional and a credit to the department. She went above and beyond on making sure I received the best support through my acne treatment journey. All questions were answered with reassurance and support. Thanks again Dina

Maternity tram were absolutely amazing. Had an emergency C-Section and the maternity team were a big help assisting me with my recovery and any baby questions or advice I needed. Didn't get all the teams names but there were a few I did managed to get such as Micheala and Ruth. Would defo recommend Bassetlaw to have a baby ❤️

My husband was given first class treatment from the staff at the hospital. Particular thanks go to the doctors and nurses in A&E. They are working under tremendous pressure, treating patients who would normally be seen by a GP and with large numbers of patients continually arriving. Thank you for all your hard work.

My father was recently on the ward ATC after having a seizure, the staff on the ward were amazing he was thoroughly diagnosed the diagnostics included an MRI scan bloodwork the full gamut of testing, the care was exemplary and outshone private care! Both the nurses, doctors & peripheral staff were outstanding in their care and dedication and could not have done more to make my father more comfortable, he has now been discharged and is on the mend thank you to everyone there 🙏🙏👏👏 I would also like to mention the paramedics that attended to my mum‘s 911 call, you were both amazing in your dedication kindness and sense of humour you are truly remarkable people and we appreciate you so much

I would like to express my thanks to both Sue and Jade the radiographers in the Bassetlaw MRI suite. I am extremely nervous and anxious in a hospital environment, but their professionalism and patient care put me at ease, where I was able to be relaxed about the scan procedure. They were excellent, and I would also like to add that the administration was perfect too, with another special mention of thanks to the lady on the reception desk at the MRI suite. The team really were amazing! Additionally, the cleanliness of the hospital was exceptional in the areas that I accessed during my visit - keep-up the great work MRI team, it really is greatly appreciated.

Rude horrible obnoxious doctor who talked at me and had me in tears. God only knows how on earth he is a children's doctor. Thank goodness my child was referred to Sheffield, (not by him I hasten to add) and we no longer have to deal with him. Why on earth I didn't complain in writing at the time, I don't know. Everyone one else I have dealt with at Bassetlaw or Sheffield has been really lovely.

I have found the Breast Unit at this hospital outstanding. Following my initial appointment everything went smoothly and without delays during my cancer diagnosis and surgery. Everyone treated me with dignity and kindness. Breast cancer nurse so reassuring and so good to be able to ring anytime for advice. Thanks to all of you amazing people

my mum died in this hospital, I suspect because no care was given, no information was clear and every time I asked about state of my mum I got told it was stable, due to them over driving my mum she was unable to move or use the toilet and the nurses (not all of them) didn’t even bother to check up on my mum and change her diper. Also with the nurses knowing my mum was unable to move drink or eat by herself the still insisted on telling my mum to eat her food and drink vitamins. On my mums last day she was alive, they couldn’t even take good care of her, there was no one to look after her even tho they knew she had difficulty with breathing and was choking on her vomit, if not me and other family members my mum would of passed away much earlier because of them not giving attention. I was told so many versions of what is happening with my mum it’s unbelievable, and after she passed away I was also told 3 versions of how she died. With having hospital acquired pneumonia nothing was done about it and not enough professional care was given.
