I usually use the self scan, but lately we've had to call for help to be told sorry we have to scan 14 items. Today I went and tried paying for my shopping and again it told me to ask for help. A woman came over started scanning a couple of items, pulled something out of my shopping bag. Huffed and said Have you scanned this? I replied yes of course. I am always careful when scanning my items and double check. Without looking at me ones she said. You will have to go to a normal checkout. I said are you serious? She didn't answer but said just follow me. I felt embarrassed as other shoppers were looking I had to pull everything out and go through a normal checkout. She made me feel like I had stolen something. I felt like a criminal. I just wanted to cry and I nearly left without my goods. I will never use the self scan method again. Infact I'm going to start shopping at another supermarket.

No complaints about the items we bought and great parking facilities.. However on our visit a couple of days ago when we got to the checkout. there were only two manned tills open with a large number of customers with trolleys waiting at each queue blocking the path of other customers wanting to pass getting to other aisles. My request to see a manager took a while for two managers to appear even though they said they came as soon as they were advised. According to the two managers they use an algorithm (or equivalent) to work out how many manned tills should be open to cater for the expected number of customers, this could be a useful tool however it does not take into account if the number of customers is greater than used in the algorithm (or equivalent) which obviously was the situation a couple of days ago. I failed to get an answer why there wasn't a more proactive approach to get more staff on the manned tills if only for a short while to clear the queue.

Having shopped at the Pontypridd store for some years and enjoyed an excellent service from their weekly home delivery, I was very disappointed and feel badly let down when today’s delivery (paid for), failed to materialise. No explanation or apology from the store. Delivery should have been between 11am -12 noon. I received a text advising it was expected at 12.01. I messaged back assuring them it was no problem. I messaged them again at 2pm advising that I had a hospital appointment at 3pm and was leaving at 2.30. No response. I got home at 5.30pm. No delivery so I messaged again asking where my shopping was. Nothing. Then it took me 30 minutes to get through to the telephone helpline. Eventually I found that the van had broken down. So why didn’t they tell me that? Why did I have to chase it? I am angry and frustrated at the lack of communication and a timely apology. Badly done Sainsbury’s. Very badly done. I’m 73 and a full-time carer for my husband who has advanced dementia. Life is tough enough.

Visited the petrol station. One of the most rude women behind counter ever. Informed my petrol pump no. and said I had nectar card, she pointed at the scanner and made no attempt to move it closer to me so I was leaning over counter, then showed my phone to pay and she grunted at pay machine. Said thank you (don't know why) and she didn't even respond. She wasn't a mute, she was plain rude.

Sorry J Sainsbury, I don't like your store. The best thing about this store is its Argos branch and its competitive fuel station. The lights in this store make me feel ill. If you are sensitive to weird lighting you might have a bad experience like me. If I can keep my visit to 10 minutes or less I can cope.

So good that pontypridd store has kept its restaurant going. Lovely cod and chips. Great service.

Nice pie & chips but the air con made the restaurant feel quite cold. Could have turned it down a few notches as the food got chilled too, otherwise fine 👍

Store design is fantastic especially during wet weather (we have a lot of it in the UK) I always find staff very helpful and friendly unlike some other stores I could name.

Plenty of parking, big spacious store at a comfortable temperature, usually well stocked, the Argos on site does make shopping a bit easier too

It's a nice store. Well laid out. Great selection of items. I like that customers can sit outside on the balcony to enjoy food from the cafe in warmer weather.

A large Sainsbury's offering a wide range of products. The shop also sells clothing and homewares. The shop is also home to a large cafe and an Argos collection point. There is a large car park underneath the shop with several disabled spaces and 'parent and child' spaces near the shop entrance.

This is a great supermarket. Some great offers to be had. Good thing about this supermarket is argos built in. The staff were friendly. Fuel was a good price here too.

Nice store with a petrol station. You need to be a local to find the entrance or use an up to date satnav.

Shop is a bit more pricey and shelves empty in parts My concern is the temperature in this store freezing Poor staff shouldnt be working in this environement. This has been ongoing for at least 2 months this time Should have been fixed sooner Not a pleasant experience will all be ill with pneumonia

I find most things in sainsbury expensive but they do have some offers on. They have nice clothes and homeware products. Bonus is the parking is under the shop so you won't get wet loading your shopping into the car and argos is inside pontypridd sainsbury.

Used the drop off and pick up point too Drop off a neighbour, easy access no issues but use those mirrors and indicators everyone it can be busy.

Spacious and well laid out, but definitely more expensive than other supermarkets. Some of the frozen food units had a lid missing! A very worrying scenario, in these days of exorbitant energy costs, and "saving the planet" intense propaganda!

Excellent store. Fantastic staff who were friendly and helpful. It's worth going to experience the space age moving walkways!

It's a Sainsbury's, I can't get too excited...I have always found the staff really friendly and it's usually well stocked despite all the woes which seem determined to destroy our lives, COVID, BREXIT and Climate change 😱 PS, the parking is free if you spend £20 and don't forget to validate the yellow coin before you reach the barrier! It's a huge pain if you reach that stage and have forgotten to do so, other drivers in the queue behind also love this moment 😐 Having said all that nonsense my favourite supermarket is Aldi 😅.

Great store. You park on the ground floor and use an escalator or lift to reach the first floor, where the shop is. The aisles are wide and the store has a light and modern feel. It also has everything you need for your weekly shop, including a coffee shop and petrol station.

Easy parking if you want to shop. If you need to eat avoid the cafe as you can be waiting a very long time for somewhat inadequate food. The ladies toilet as reported by my wife are a disgrace.
