Food 10/10 Value for money 10/10 - HUGE portions Service 8/10. Been a few times, some visits were brill and some were average. Only thing I would say is the food comes in takeaway boxes and personally I’d prefer it if dining in it comes on plates. I think it’s better for the environment as I wonder if they get recycled after use - not likely… Cocktails are perfect as well!! Love all the frozen ones. It truly does bring me back to New Orleans when I visited!!

This place is an absolute gem of a place. The surf and turf is crazy amazing. I love the soft shell crab…. If only they give you more of it…. It’s beyond tasty. The Cajun mayo is the best sauce hands down. The wait staff are lovely and friendly…. Best place for fast fried food ever….

The food was excellent and I have no words for how perfectly cooked the calamari was, all tasted great and not to mention the portion where you definitely get you value for your money. I do have to say this place was busy at the time of my visit however the service was great and we didn't feel rushed at all. The service was good and friendly in a comfortable environment except the toilet was a bit low angled if you're tall.

This place is great! Huge delicious portions , good vibes and fast service. Their lil cocktails are quite nice. I will go back until I have tried all items on their menu. For now I can tell the poor boy bun with fried shrimps was amazing, the shrimps were huge. The beef brisket donuts are something from another world. Must try ! Highly recommend

We have been wanting to go for ages, seen it on Instagram and heard from others how good it was. And it was epic! A big cue to get in (another great sign) the place was jam packed and the staff were amazing, polite and happy to be at work. Drinks came quick, food did take a little time but is was full so a small wait was expected. The food was top quality and huge portions. Everything was as it said on the tin and we took home what we had left. Prices match the high quality and vibe of the place. We will be back for sure, so so good. Thank you to all the kitchen staff and front of house.

What a beautiful little spot in a beautiful location. You always know you’re in for a treat when you get there 10mins before opening and there’s a line 20+ people deep waiting to get in. Great portion sizes with a great selection of food, which is all done to perfection. First time in a while I haven’t finished a whole meal (that’s saying something) Well worth a visit.

This is what you expect when looking for comfort food 👌 We had the barbecue ribs with mac & cheese, and the chicken tenders with salad, plus chips for sharing. Everything was fresh and on point, and just enough sauce to give a great flavor without being oversweet. Service is fast and nice

I’ve never eaten at Poor Boys but have ordered from here a number of times and they never disappoint. In my opinion this is the best takeaway option in Kingston if you’re looking for American food. It’s not cheap but the food is delicious and always cooked to a high standard. I wouldn’t order the calamari again as this doesn’t travel well, but everything else can easily be heated up on the oven without compromising the quality. I love the popcorn cauliflower and was really disappointed to see this isn’t available as a starter/snack anymore, but hope they’ll bring it back soon. I’m a meat eater but always loved ordering it as a great side! The Cajun fries are an absolute must too.

Huge portions of food (which is not a complaint by any means). I'd happily go back for more. The prawns are moreish and it is easy to get carried away. Sides and drinks are great. Lovely service from the team there. You're left to enjoy yourself but they're around when you need them.

One of my favourites in Kingston, been quite a few times and will keep coming… located near the river and just off the main market area it is usually very busy. Often there is a queue and quite a lengthy wait, but it’s definitely worth it. Prices are pretty reasonable and especially when you see the quantity of the food you get… absolutely massive portions of rich delicious southern comfort food. Very decadent and perfect if you are really hungry, all food comes in Takeaway boxes which even if you have a big appetite you will probably use. It seems the food is designed for you to take away and finish at home. There’s plenty of places to sit both inside and outside, and staff are very friendly…

One of my fav places! This place never fails to satisfy. Food is always 10/10, buzzing with people, friendly helpful staff. Great portions, always leave with a takeaway because it’s that filling. Their Mac and cheese is to die for! No such thing as too much sauce at this place. Simply amazing! Note: there’s always a queue on the weekends, so be prepared to queue but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Very nice food, a bit on the salty side but kind of expected with the kind of food. Pretty decent portion, and the soft shell crab, shrimps, beef burnt ends and shakes are definitely the highlights. Expect queues at peak hours but worth the wait. Really surprised this is the only restaurant in the whole UK.

We ordered ‘Surf and turf platter’ and were totally blown away. Everything is fresh and juicy; batter is crispy and well seasoned - a perfect balance. I’m asian national and usually critical about food, but well impressed by this platter. We visited on Saturday afternoon and there was a huge queue for indoor sitting. We choose outdoor as there’s plenty heating and no wait. The only downside is not enough stores. Needs one in East Anglia :)

A 4-star homage to New Orleans cuisine. Having lived in New Orleans before London, I am always looking for food that reminds me of home. Poor Boys does a good job, producing delicious food (that’s influenced by New Orleans, if not authentic). The batter for the fried items is amazing and packed full of flavor. The shrimp on the po boy were deliciously cooked to perfection. The brioche bread is a bit problematic as it’s not authentic and doesn’t really hold up well to all of the yummy goodness inside. The onion rings were superb, but the fried pickles left me a little underwhelmed—mainly due to the pickle itself. I’d classify it as more of a bread and butter pickle than a true tart dill. The atmosphere was delightful, with so many nods to home and the staff were absolutely lovely! Be forewarned, though! There was a really long wait for a table. Once you bite into your food though, you’ll understand why.

My partner and I travel from Portsmouth to Kingston purely to go to Poor Boys, the food is absolutely incredible. This visit was no exception the buttermilk prawn Po was to die for. The lovely Amelia looked after us, she was attentive, welcoming and a credit to your team. She made sure our visit was worth every mile travelled. Thanks Amelia! We will see you again next time! 😁

We had an absolutely amazing meal - we arrived at 1pm and had to queue for about 15 minutes but the food was well worth the wait! The food was incredible and the portions huge - would highly recommend the Mac Boy! Also thoroughly enjoyed the festive shake with salted caramel and baileys. Only downside was that we were sat right next to the door so it was a little cold but didn’t ruin the meal in anyway.

Cute restaurant in Kingston upon Thames. Love the names of the restaurant and the dishes. They had a queue (what a bonus) but the queue went quick, which means they may change their name from Poor Boys to Rich Boys soon!! 🤑🤑🤑 I loved their marketing, but at the same time the restaurant’s interior had a very local and fun feel to it, they have two floors. The Po’ food was local and very authentic, so it was great overall. We ordered a Yardbird Dirty Boy and Shrimp Mac Boy. Both were delicious!! Served hot. The shrimp was perfectly fried and the chicken with the BBQ sauce was absolutely delicious. The servers also have a bit of humour, they are entertaining 😉😉 Will come here again!!

The places opens at 12pm and from the minute it opens it is fairly busy. It might have been because of the weather but there was a queue already forming before it opened. The place is beside the River Thames which makes it better on a sunny day. You are instantly greeted and welcomed by the waitor and the waitor on the day was very welcoming. The restaurant is a little small as seating is very tight so you would need to go there early to get a spot, they do have seating upstairs but I wasn't sure if it was open to the public yet. I made my on Po Boy sandwich. There is a variety of meat and seafood to choose fork to put in your sandwich, I went for the Southern Friend Chicken with Cajun Mayo and along with that some Cajun fries. The sandwich was amazing in my opinion especially the brioche bun they put it in very fluffy and buttery and the Cajun Mayo went really well with the Southern Fried chicken. All in all I would give the Sandwich a 8.5/10. What I didn't really enjoy was the fries as it was soggy but it was still tasty I just wish the fries where crispy it would have made the meal even better. I tried the chicken popcorn and you can choose the sauce to go with it, again I went for the Cajun Mayo and it didn't disappoint and I also got the cracklins which was deep fried chicken skin I believe. The Cracklins was very nice and I would recommend it if you like fried chicken skin. All in all the restaurant was a good place to have lunch. I left full which is always a plus.

Tough call but only 4 stars. A bit overpriced since nothing comes with sides. A huge queue (1hr at 5pm) but luckily if you decide to brave the cold and sit outside with heaters like we did you get seated/served in 30 instead. The £15 shrimp po boy was huge and tasty. The £20 beef rib sadly was a bit fatty and not that well spiced. Also some strange reason they pair it with a ‘philly cheese’ that’s sorta a cheese whiz - ok for a cheesesteak sub but not beef rib!! Asiah the waiter/host was cool and great service from him and Charlie! Suggested they get some Old Bay for all that great seafood! I know this is Kingston etc but really for those prices should come with some fries or a side. No desserts which is strange - perfect place for pecan pie, key lime pie or at least cheesecake.

Really good place for food. They specialize themselves in american food, particularly meat such as chicken, beef, shrimps, etc. It is not the best place for a vegan or vegetarian but I went there with one of my friends that happened to be vegetarian and the staff did their best to accommodate the best option for her. The staff is absolutely the best in Poor Boys. It reminds me a bit of how they treat you in Hard Rock Café and the music is quite good. There are tables inside and outside but I personally would go for outside tables purely because you have a nice view of the river. It is also well located as you can always have a walk around the river or even go to other bars such as Incognito for some drinks and come back. The Meat Sharer is amazing and it is extremely good value for what they give you as 3 people can eat it. It can be a bit rough on the stomach as it is heavy food so I'd recommend controlling yourself when coming here haha

Wow! So worth the waiting in queue for. The food was amazing and so was the service. The staff were so friendly, at one point they needed us to move to another table, right next to us to make space for another group and for the fuss they gave us complimentary drinks which was a nice little touch. Prawn poor boy tasted so fresh and the mac and cheese is 10/10. Cannot recommend enough.

Took my little brother here for his 18th. Had a lovely meal and a couple drinks. The food was lovely. Mac and cheese balls I would highly recommended. The brisket could have been a little more tender, though. The ice slush cocktails were lovely too.

Read this before visiting! So if you visit on weekend expect a long wait! We queued for approx hour! Once seated service was slow and we ordered took another 45mins before coming out! The portions are huge!! The PO boy sandwiches are filled and big enough for two people. Food wise the shrimp big pieces crispy buttermilk 3/5 Wings again same butter milk batter 3/5 would preferred sauce over the wings with some garnish. Mac cheese balls are size of a tennis ball very dense 2.5/5 PO boy chicken sandwich Same crispy batter huge pieces chicken. The sauce dips where great would like to see some gravy on menu to accompany the sandwiches as the batter gets to dry! I would recommend one portion fries between two people and don’t order everything with butter milk seasoning all tastes the same. Overall average food wouldn’t be in a rush to return. Not worth 2 hours wait!!

We were so excited for this place ! We had about 30 min wait to get in but the time went really quickly as watched the lake. We already know portion size was going to be huge so we ordered accordingly and it did not disappoint. Great flavours and sauces.

Arriving at 3 pm saved us from the evening and weekend queues. Service was quick, reflecting the spot's popularity. The Diet Cokes were a bit pricey at nearly £4 each, served in basic plastic cups. The playlist was good but a tad too loud, and the frequent song changes were a bit odd. When the food arrived, the server silently placed it on the table, and our sauces got mixed up. Paying took a while as staff chatted with other tables, adding a laid-back vibe. The £20 per person bill included an extra sauce charge, though the small pot wasn't enough. While the food tasted good, it might not suit true food lovers as it's heavily seasoned, providing a false sense of flavor. It's more fitting for a hangover cure, but the overall experience felt overrated, possibly influenced by social media hype.

With all the IG hype I’m saddened to say I was expecting way more. I mean the buttermilk chicken bun was good, but the beef brisket was fairly dry and chewy. Also prices are too high for what you get - about £14 for the chicken sandwich and £19-20 for the brisket (plus included service our bill was £50 for 2 people). I mean, I’m glad I tried it and ticked it off, but I won’t get out of my way to visit Kingston and eat there again.

Waited in queue for around 10mins max considering it was very busy inside. Seated by a window with the view of the river, fantastic service with upbeat music. Total came to around £45+ which was abit surprising as we only had two burgers, but food was definitely delicious and very filling which you could takeaway.

Never heard of Poor Boy before until we went to Incognito which is next door. My friends also spoke very highly of this place. So glad I went as I love the whole concept of the way your food is delivered to you and ready to go. The food is so good, comforting, different, and definitely dirty (delicious and has everything to make it even better). I would highly recommend and come here again and again.

Great restaurant set by the canals in Kingston, very popular so expect to queue but food is very good and the place has a good atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff, happy to offer recommendations like the Mac and cheese balls which were excellent. Calamari was really good too and the fried pickles were extremely moreish! Frozen cocktails were good although not sure about the main cocktails which consisted of a small bottle of spirit stuck into a can of pop… Overall very good experience and would recommend.

Great location, great atmosphere, and fantastic food. I have heard many great reviews about Poor Boys and finally got around the visiting. I was a little apprehensive about not being able to book a table, especially on a Friday evening, but we were seated within 5 minutes and received our food quicker than expected. You have to be very careful to not have eyes bigger than your belly as the portion sizes really do not disappoint! Highly recommend

The place is awesome. The food is amazingly tasty and with big rations. The staff is friendly as well. We went on a Sunday so we had a queue to wait, but it was completely worthy. Fully recommended!!!!

I didn't expect there to be a restaurant tucked away next to the river, but it's such a good place if you really wanna fill your belly up! Huge portions of food, couldn't finish it all so had to take it away, to my surprise the containers the food came in also served as takeaway boxes which i thought was unique. Our server was such a great & chill guy, wish I gave him a tip for his service. When we went, it wasn't that busy so we were served quickly. We got 2 margaritas, 2 po boys, a side of fries, wings & onion rings. Everything was so flavourful but the onion rings were especially great, i didnt expect them to have so much flavour, wish I got more to takeaway. Everything about this place was really good apart from the toilets. It was so dark in there, thought I needed to turn the lights on but it was already on but REALLY dim. Apart from that, I'm definitely coming back here again!

Simply outstanding!!! Drove 1.5 hours to try Poor Boys as we'd seen it all over the gram and heard great things, and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! There was a bit of a queue outside, but that's always a good sign, and we really didn't wait long, 15 mins tops. At least by the time we'd got a table, we'd already pretty much decided what we were going to order. We had Arla as a waitress, and she was superb. She made some VERY good recommendations and was very tentative. Food wise, honestly, I can not fault anything! The portion sizes are huge, and the flavours are fantastic, from the seasonings to the sauces. We had the Chicken Wings, jalapeño poppers, onions rings, mac n cheese balls, fried pickles, brisket burnt end fries, and the southern chicken po'boy. Needless to say, it was way too much food for two people, but we made a very good dent, and they're more than happy for you to box up the leftovers. Would most definitely make the journey again! Until next time! P.S. Give the Peanut Butter Whisky spiked frozen coke a try. You can thank me later!

Dont come on a Saturday!!! Waited almost two hours in the rain for a seat and decided we would sit outside under the heaters outside. However its raining and we were not totally covered by the canopy so made the decision to get the food and eat in our car. The venue is small and staff suggested its better to come during the week as they are busy as soon as they open. The staff were up beat and as helpful as they could be. I gave 1 start for atmosphere because we never made it inside We brought the meat sharing platter, which is mainly chicken, lots of chicken! The brisket lacked flavour, even the bourbon bbq sauce did nothing for me. The fried calamari was not crispy and the chicken was just ‘ok’ nothing special. I loved the burnt ends and the dirty onion rings - delicious. The drinks are expensive for the cup. Was it worth a two hour wait; personally no. However, on a quiet day I would buy the burnt ends and onion rings again. Spent £68

So good! Portions are HUGE. One sandwich is easily enough for 2 people, unless you’re feeling really hungry. Bit pricey, but for the amount of food you get, I’d say it’s fair. To get in, there’s a long queue with a wait of around 30 min. We decided to order online and collect instead. Definitely a must try. Image: - Shrimp Poor Boy Sandwich - Chicken Poor Boy Sandwich

My first visit to poor boys and it did not disappoint! We were greeted by a really nice server and told there was a small wait but he brought out menus so we good have a browse whilst waiting. The server who took our order and looked after us was super friendly! He was patient with us and always smiling. He then went above and beyond with a table nearby to sit with them and go through the menu as they were clearly also first timers. 100% recommend, the food did not disappoint, the servers were all lovely, and the atmosphere was great!

Went here for lunch after a session of bowling and I was definitely not disappointed!! We only had to wait about 20/25 mins to get a table and once we were seated, I was spoiled for choice. I got the Po Boy Sandwich with the cajun grilled chicken, Mac and Cheese Balls and the onion rings. The size of the side portions were definitely enough for two people and the food was amazing. I also had a frozen strawberry daiquiri with a generous serving of alcohol. The service was also amazing and our server was attentive and helpful throughout our meal. All in all this was a 10/10 resturant, I will definitely be visiting again to try the other various selections on the menu.

We loved the food, decor and atmosphere with this place. The brothers have delivered on their promise to serve up classic New Orleans and Regional American, offering a great menu of food and drink. We had the shrimp, chicken wings and the 12hour slow cooked beef brisket which tasted as good as how it was presented. We'll definitely be going back and remember to get their early to avoid the queues!

This place is amazing. Second time in 2 months ( This is an hour and forty minutes away from me so not close) and the food was amazing both times. If there is 4 of you, I would recommend getting the sharing platter you wont be about to finish it. It is epic. The shrimps and brisket is insanely good.
