What more can I say about this magical place other than you have to go and the experience will surpass any and all expectations you have. I recently visited for the first with a group of golf sickos and to say it was the highlight was an understatement. I had a flood of emotions throughout the entire round and truly will never forget it. If you love golf you have to take the leap and go!

The home of golf where many great players have competed in the Open held every 5-7 years. Except the time when tournament is being held, you can walk around fairways (even dogs can enjoy running around the course!!). Public ballot is made every day except Sundays so you can play golf at the worlds most prestigious golf course if you are lucky!!

What an amazing place. Played April 2022 and the infrastructure was going up for the open so felt more special playing in front of grandstands. Great condition with immaculate greens and fairways and every bunker looked to be rebuilt. The nerves don’t come from the course t comes from the aura around the place, the history and groups of random people just standing watching you play. The 17th road hole played to its reputation but throughly enjoyable day and round of golf

As a life long golfer this was a dream to come to the birthplace of golf and experience the city of St. Andrews and walk the area around the course, I wasn't able to play, but still great! We took a train from Edinburgh for a wonderful day trip and walked around the city finding all kinds of shops and restaurants. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎

Great time at St. Andres Old Course and a good round of golf. We won the lottery and played at 6:40 AM. I would recommend getting a caddie as it will help your game and you’ll have great conversations.

I walked around the Old Course and I realized that television doesn't tell the story of these beautiful grounds. The course appears so tame and inviting but I've watched the best players in the world struggle here. As I look out at each golf hole, I can't understand why they struggle. But then it hits me. The wind isn't blowing today. There's a soft rain falling so the greens are soft enough to accept shots from a distance. I see all the iconic holes and views that I've seen so many times on television and my mind wanders back to my memories of past Open championships. Next time I pack my golf clubs and give it a go.

A genuinely once in a lifetime experience, my first tournament to visit in person, The 150th Open @ St Andrews. It didn't disappoint. It's even better in person than I could've imagined.

I'm not a golfer but I have an appreciation for history and this place just has an aura. People have been playing golf on these links for over 600 years and walking the course you get a sense of the mystique. The bunkers are so deep, the course looks well groomed but I can imagine it plays extremely tough. If you are in the area, you have to come. And the coolest part, it's public land so anyone can walk the course.

It’s nice to visit a place with so much prestige and hype and have it meet every expectation. The staff was helpful and kind. The caddies were amazing. The course was in excellent shape. This is for sure a must visit and even a place to return to. Easy to find, dedicated parking, fun atmosphere, but still very much the home of golf. I spent two weeks in Scotland culminating to playing the Old Course and even with all the anticipation it still was the most enjoyable and memorable experience of the whole trip.

The primordial home of golf. While golf is not why I came to St Andrews, I quite enjoyed seeing the profusion of American golfers so thrilled to reach these hallowed links. The choruses verdant and rolling, with just the right degree of Scottish wildness. There are lengthy YouTube videos breaking down every little contour and element of the 18 holes of the Old Course, and I will not attempt to replicate that information, but I will say that this is a place that has a palpable and dense atmosphere about it. Really is the course ostentatious or overtly flashy. Rather, it is suddenly dignified, confidently secure in itd august, age-warn magnificence.

The golf course of golf courses. Must visit if you have the opportunity. Even interesting for those not playing golf. Little tip: you get to do some putting yourself for just 4£ at the other side, look for the St Andrews Ladies' Putting Club. Real good fun and quite challenging.

To play this course is the biggest experience you can have in golf. It is the first 18 hole course in the world, and it is the home of golf. The historic ambiance combined with one of the worlds most well kept golf courses makes this experience greater than life. I enjoyed every second of my visit and hopefully I am lucky enough to return and play some day

The beginning of golf awaits you at the historic St. Andrews Old Course in beautiful Scotland. You don't need to love the game of golf to appreciate the beauty and deep history of the Old Course. It is beautifully maintained and lovely to visit. The World Golf Museum is by the 18th green, it's worth the price of the ticket if you love golf. The original Claret Jug is in the museum. It's easy to watch golfers on the Old Course, they allow visitors to walk around with golfers or you can watch from the side streets. We were invited to sit at the 2nd story of The New Course clubhouse and watch our friends tee off from the first hole. I didn't realize the old course had a working street in the middle of the first and 18th fairways, so funny!

What's there to say about the Old Course that you wouldn't already know?! This course is as stunning in person as it was on all the videos I watched over the years. In fact, the videos truly don't do it justice. I was able to get the opportunity to golf here. I waited overnight for my chance to get on. As a single, this is your best chance to get on. Don't worry, you won't be alone. It was just like camping and you get to make friends and talk golf. There may have been a few beverages shared amongst new friends through the night, I'll let you decide what they were. I got there at 10pm and waited till 6am when the doors opened and was able to get my spot secured. Myself and everyone else who waited could not believe how fast time went by. It did not feel like we waited that long, but you know what they say, time flies when you're having fun. The staff were amazing the night before and the morning of. I could not believe the hospitality and kindness the staff showed us at the FIRST AND MOST ICONIC GOLF COURSE! If you ever get the opportunity to play this course, please do yourself a favor and do it! The course itself was stunning and amazing to play. I elected to use a caddy (I highly recommend this). My caddie was Finnely and he was great! My group and the caddies all had an amazing time playing golf and soaking in the scenery. I see why they picked that spot hundreds of years ago. Oh I almost forgot, I left you all a birdie on 4. Be sure and try and get it!

Awesome experience, and the staff were outstanding. Playing the golf course was a great experience, but the staff made it memorable. We had to stay overnight for a ballot for the next day but the interaction with the other waiting golfers made it memorable. Try their soup at the halfway house if it's cold when you play.

The holy grail of golf, that lived up to all my (high) expectations. Superb layout, and definitely a course where one can shoot a good score, if you can keep your nerves in check, and keep the ball in play. Teeing off 1 is an amazing feeling, as is coming back in over 17, and 18. The course has wide fairways, and generous landing areas, great bunkering, and challenging, but fair green complexes. A caddie is recommended as they will help with lines off the tee and into the greens, and with their experience they quickly pick up your strengths and weaknesses, ensure you hit the right clubs and numbers, and guide you through an unforgettable experience.

Erm.......whats all the fuss about really. Been a massive golf fan for 20 years. Always wanted to call in here. Public all over a course that people pay over £150 to play. 4 balls back to back to back! Absolute carnage! Course looked in same condition as most others! My local course (£60) a round is in much much better shape!

An absolute gem in terms of uniqueness. Caddies, quality and fun with groups putting in shared greens. Unfortunately, the golf course is swarmed and devastated by 25-30+ handicap players that ruin the entire experience. Only for $360 you get to wait years or hours in queue to end up playing with people that have the money but not the time to practice it. Until the requirement is a max 20 handicap, this course is not worth paying for.

Magical experience. It’s hard to separate the myth and the actual course, but if you treat it like a combination of a round of golf and a museum tour, you’ll have an unforgettable experience. Get caddies and listen to what they say.

Easy to get to and located just off the water so a great backdrop. Easy to walk the course and follow golfers although there could be better viewing platforms and space created around greens to watch the action. Catering facilities were decent although very expensive. Could do with having the same offering at each station. Overall a good day out. We went when the sun was out though, might not be so good if the heavens opened up!

Bucket list stuff for a golfer and it didn't dissapoint, played ok on the Old Course but smiled all the way round, weather was glorious and pins were in the same position from the last day of the Walker Cup - The undualtions and some of the bunker sizs are a thing to behold - the best golf experience i've ever had
