Absolutely amazing place to go. Loads of lovely donkeys everywhere! So many beautiful donkeys. Isn’t a full day out but will occupy you for a good few hours. It is honestly one of the loveliest days out ever. It was even better that we could bring the dog to walk around and the talk was very informative. Really recommend

Great place to go for a few hours. Free entry to visit. The kids did the trail which is £5. It seemed pretty popular to take your dog also. Wasn't overly busy when visiting, but can imagine during the holidays / summer months it would get very busy.

Such a lovely place. My son absolutely loved seeing all the donkeys so close. They are so calm and let you come close to them. He loves to touch animals so that was really lovely. Lovely cafe too with amazing views while to relax. Well worth a visit. We will be visiting many more times.

One of my favourite places to visit regularly. The donkeys are so well looked after and loved by the wonderful staff there. It’s a big outdoor area so even on a busy day it never feels that way, it’s always peaceful to visit. A beautiful setting and the site is clearly cared well for too. The staff are very passionate and caring and always up for a chat. Well worth going to the talks that they put on, always interesting. The cafe is lovely and you can enjoy views of the site and the sea in the distance. Food is always very good and generous portions. As it’s free to enter and park it’s always worth at least getting a coffee to take away with you, as the profits go back in to the charity. We ‘adopt’ Cocoa so we always look forward to seeing him. Highly recommend a visit.

So much has changed since we last visited. The restaurant and gift shop are much larger with a great range of food options and gifts for all budgets, including pocket money prices. And being able to visit and mix with the donkeys is a treat not to be missed. We found some access was via stiles but most were through gates. Honestly, if you love donkeys, fields and open spaces with views to the sea, a visit to The Donkey Sanctuary is not to be missed.

Wow Amazing, what a beautiful charity. Its FREE entry, huge parking available and only hour an half from Bristol. Dogs welcome must be on leads. Wonderful staff an volunteers, nothing too much effort. Every size donkey from minatures to large sizes. Cafe was fabulous I had garden burger meal, followed by huge slab rainbow cake under £14 so very affordable prices. Make sure to walk whole site, highlight for me was huge group of blind donkeys my heart melted and so very friendly loved being touched, also loved the 2 mules. Please respect the site take any picnic waste to one of many bins all around site and also lots washing up facilities too. Please give generously to help in the many collection boxes for different donkey appeals! Every pound really makes a difference!!!

This was such a wonderfully fun time for us! They truly do uphold comprehensive care on all levels for the donkeys and you can clearly see how evident that is. The donkeys are relaxed, adventurous and beautiful to see! Our tour guide was enormously helpful and gave great insight and practical information. Afterwards, the cafe is a great place to unwind, with delicious food and drink. Altogether, it was a great and adventurous visit for us and we’re really excited to visit again! Highly recommended!

Nice place for kids to see and learn about donkeys. Cafe had good range of hot drinks and pastries, and plenty of food that looked good (we only had hot drinks and cake). The new playground looks promising but when we were there was just the old, slightly disappointing play area. Good to see they are updating and upgrading. Staff friendly and helpful.

Love this place so tranquil the donkeys are truly wonderful the staff and volunteers are helpful and very friendly. The restaurant is top quality and reasonable priced. We have been twice this week and enjoyed it more each time. It is free to enter and a great place for kids to run around with lots of flat paths for prams and wheelchairs to access. Don't miss the French donkey D'Artagwith the long hair and the biggest ear's you have ever seen.

Visited this morning with the dog. As we arrived early (930am) seemed that a lot of donkeys were inside still eating breakfast. Lovely place for a couple of hours. All donkeys had lovely clean fields/barns. Lots of information around site. Staff very helpful and informative. Seemed plenty for young children to do too. Visited cafe, only had coffees, but food looked good. Dog was welcome inside too. Free to visit but definitely worth the donation we left. Highly recommended!

Wow amazing inspirational sanctuary, free to get in but please make a donation. Lots of parking. lots of lovely paths to walk, right in the countryside with lots of wild flowers too, it is very spread out didn't feel over crowded , over 200 Donkeys!! lovely views over the sea, great maze! Amazing cafe and views, good gift shop and plant sales, we stayed near by and went 3 times in 5 days, there is also a public foot path, through the reserve, to the beach but steep steps at the end, please don't drop your Litter here, look after nature.

We were expecting a couple of hours for our first visit but spent 4.5 hours! It was a lovely location to spend some time quietly observing the characteristics of these lovely animals. It is free to visit but of course it was an obvious choice to adopt a couple of donkeys for only a few pounds a month. The cream tea was lovely too! Absolutely worth the couple of hours drive each way.

What a lovely place. Free entry (although you will want to leave a donation I'm sure!). A lovely reasonably priced restaurant with good local food. There is nice walks around the sanctuary and you can see the donkeys up close. There is also a small play park and shop. Nice way to spend an afternoon.

The donkey sanctuary is a delightful haven for both families and animal enthusiasts. With its free admission, wheelchair accessibility, and expansive green spaces, it's a welcoming environment for all. Families can enjoy the company of their furry friends, but ensure dogs are kept on a lead. The staff's warmth and friendliness enhance the overall experience. Don't miss the captivating donkey talks held twice a day – a perfect opportunity to learn more about these gentle creatures. The educational room provides fantastic insights into the world of donkeys, making this sanctuary not only a joyful outing but an educational one too.

It exceeded my expectations. Highly wheelchair accessible. Enough benches and shaded areas available for who needs a rest. Beautiful flowers of all types. The restaurant is roomy and has beautiful views.

Love going to get my fix of donkey cuddles; they are such sweet animals. Amazing place, well run with friendly helpful staff/volunteers. Great place to also go for some breakfast, lunch or just coffee and cake. 😀

Such a beautiful, calm place. Much bigger than expected, so prepare for lots of walking. Very pretty flower borders. Lovely to see the donkeys in such a caring place. Restaurant food was very good. It's free to get in and you can spend hours there. We went on a very hot day, so will go back again when it's cooler.

A firm family favorite, that is dog friendly too! We stopped by the cafe for breakfast which is well priced, with lots of options and really efficient service. Then onto a walk round the site to seem as many donkeys as possible! There was even a few members of staff to talk to too. We will definitely be back k next time we are down in Devon.

Lovely place to wander. Use as starting point for a walk. Grab a snack or coffee in The Kitchen after. Beautiful restored old farm.

Went to The Donkey Sanctuary from our caravan in Devon Cliffs. There is plenty of free parking. Had a decent coffee and nibble to start the visit. All good. As to donkeys. There are plenty. Some close enough to touch and pat. Quite friendly. But don't feed them. The whole place is quite sizeable so you can have a good, relaxing walk but quite a bit is donkey free. There is a maze which is fun to walk round. We all found our way out...eventually. There is a good sized shop which sells... you guessed, a lot of stuff with donkeys the theme. I would say that its not an exciting visit but pleasant on a sunny day.

We stopped by the donky sanctuary on the way home. The weather was rainy and foggy. Already from the parking lot we could hear the sounds of donkeys, because of the fog we couldn't see them right away. Finally succeeded. There are lots of donkeys all over the place. Great place, well organized, a lot of space to walk around, a playground for children, a large well organized cafe (first choose what you want from the menu and then go and order, I think thanks to this system there was no queue), delicious cakes, there is also a place for picnic. We spent two hours there, including about 30 minutes for coffee. You can come there for much longer and have a nice time with your family, friends, you can also take your dog 🙂 Free parking and entry. Staff very very friendly 🤩

Fantastic place to visit! We visited in the morning, enjoyed a sandwich in the cafe and took a stroll around the paddocks. Great to see the care taken for the donkeys and mules at the sanctuary. The free parking and entry is a bonus but don’t forget to donate.

Great place to visit...especially for children. The donkeys are really well looked after and there are lots to see housed over multiple large and small 'paddocks'. The facilities are excellent and there's a large cafeteria area if you fancy a coffee, breakfast, lunch etc. There are also some nice garden areas and a picnic spot. It's well worth a visit any time of year.

Had such a lovely day here. Visited my Mum's memorial tree and thoroughly enjoyed walking around the fields full of donkeys. Tranquil and beautiful and it was lovely reading all the plaques dedicated to people and animals. There is much to see. Lots of information to read. The maze was fun. The restaurant is lovely and the food was delicious. The shop is full of donkey gifts. And I also bought a fab plant from the plant stall. Just wished I lived nearer would be a frequent visitor.

Dog friendly BRING YOUR PUPPIES HERE! free entry and some lovely on site walks. Please make a donation if you can. Some beautiful bits in the gift shop. The cafe is incredible. We had a vegan flapjack (not knowing it was vegan) and it was so good we now prefer it to the normal ones. The white hot chocolate there is incredible. It's also all made so lovely by their fantastic work saving and supporting these kind creatures across the world. 10/10.

What a gorgeous place to visit. My late stepdad sponsored the Donkey Sanctuary for a very long time, now I do the same. Plenty of parking (free). I rode my mobility scooter all the way around & didn't struggle. Toilets were spotless. Everywhere was clean & tidy. Very friendly staff.

Wonderful trip over to the Donkey Sanctuary and would love to return next time we're staying in Dorset. Very well thought out site, beautiful gardens and attention to detail everywhere. Lovely café and toilet facilities & plenty of places to wash hands. Children have been considered too and hope to bring our little granddaughter next time. So amazing to see so many happy well cared for donkeys and to hear about all the educational work going on behind the scenes to try and improve the care for donkeys in many different countries.
