i would say that the reviews on here have been done by staff to improve the rating of the home. Our dear mother and grandmother passed away this weekend after suffering for a long time with dementia. Her so called care care whilst alive & her care now she has gone was very much below what you would want for anyone let alone a loved one. An array of carelessness and no care, no common sense prevailed in her time there extremely painful & very sadly. Complaints made to management where little or nothing was done. From safeguarding to just no care. Medicine cabinet left unlocked in her room. No one getting her up to feed her and being left one Christmas Day In hospital at deaths door for 3 hours, no call to us until I call to pick her up to find she was in hospital where she had received no medication & looked like she had already passed away with shallow breathing & no antibiotics because no one knew if she was allergic to them or not. A week on when released her antibiotics where not then administered from whats called a can home from carers and myself being treated like a nuisance & for complaining & being upset . Being left in pain on another occasion ,placed on paracetamol for weeks which was causing her pain because she was constipated through being given paracetamol to relieve the pain which was making her constipated & causing the pain. I had taken her back after a few hours at mine saying she needed to see a doctor 3 weeks or less like it with no doctor being sought & still being given paracetamol . Total lack of care.Repeated visits cancelled & Skype calls right up until the end that I wasn’t allowed to see or Skype her. A Skype call made showed bruising on her forehead, half the length of my finger that had not been reported to the doctors not. examined, no notes made ,no phone call, no body map.Again I was treated like I was a Problem for complaining & for speaking out about my loved one because she was unable to do it for herself. I was trying to speak out for my loved one as they are unable to do it for themselves. These people call themselves carers and I getting paid to do the job yet not doing it. Numerous painful & appalling situations but nothing was done when complaints were made and threatened by the manager our loved one would have to be moved in a time of a pandemic if I didn’t like it. My last visit with my mother was about five weeks ago where it was treated like a prison visit the only one I had had with her inside the building for 10 months. The door had to be kept open and we had to be watched & was told I wasn’t allowed to touch her even with PPE on even though the staff where touching her skin with bare hands nod only a flimsy face mask. She was holding out her hand to me & I couldn’t explain that I was not allowed to touch her, unbelievably painful & callous. The staff have now brought the coronavirus into the care home 3 times yetI was not allowed to be near my mum . These are just a few to mention, I could go on for hours. The pain that we all suffered & the loss of time with her. The total lack of care , consideration or humanity. On our dear mother passing this weekend there where constant appalling mistakes, rudeness & total lack of care again. Lack of professionalism at a time like this when things where bad enough. My sister & I not allowed in together & was told that we would have to stand at the other end of the room watching herself gasping for breath and be allowed to touch her. The call that should have been made to my sister on Skype in her final hours as awful & placed with the wrong people. My sister never got her call even after her passing. The night before she died Lee apparently a team leader was gob snaking rube to me for everyone to hear on loudspeaker. Unprofessional, caring and should be doing another job . They even sent her body to the wrong chapel of rest well we still haven’t been able to visit due to this.

My dear nanny spent her last years here, when she could no longer manage on her own. She was in Mayflower Court, which is a dementia care unit. During her time here, she was provided with outstanding care. All the carers I met when visiting were very kind and nothing was ever too much for them. She had a very good relationship with all the staff and kept her wicked sense of humour up until her death. Today was the day of her funeral and we decided to have the wake at the bar in the care village. Staff were very attentive and the food laid out was amazing. I'd like to thank each and every one of you, who everyday make the lives of people like my nan, better, easier, full of love, support and compassion. I am a fellow Norse employee and care support worker and it makes me proud to see other norse care homes doing so well. Whenever I come here for training I am greeted by helpful and polite receptionists and all staff in general. Keep up the good work and thank you once again. Us good carers and care homes do not get enough recognition for all our hard work! Pixie - Grand daughter of Maureen Mibbs.

My mother was at the care from the time it opened until she passed away, and has always been very well looked after. The staff I cannot speak highly enough of. They are so kind and caring. Mother was always clean and tidy. The home of a very high standard for cleanliness. Any problems were taken seriously and rectified as soon as possible.

My dad was 99 when Somerley closed down. He was happy there but even though he had a fantastic flat in Bowthorpe the only thing he really wanted was company. The staff did a fantastic job but sadly dad passed away after being there for just 7 weeks.

If you're down with spending some time with old folk, make this your jam. It's new, modern, clean and there are plenty of senior citizens with varying levels of sanity. If, of course, you have a relative in here, this'll be a go to for you.

Took my wife for care training, there is lots of development underway but has a nice cafe, a small shop and is light and airy.
