Named
after
Edward
the
Confessor,
the
first
in
the
Saxon
line
of
Kings.
The
first
church
was
completed
in
1893;
it
is
now
the
church
hall,
situated
to
the
rear
of
the
present
church,
which
was
consecrated
in
September,
1946.
The
exterior
in
not
an
example
of
architectural
splendour,
however,
the
interior
is
a
vast
improvement,
and
of
interest
I
would
recommend
the
stone
font,
sanctuary,
lady
Chapel,
windows
and
plaques
depicting
the
Stations
of
the
Cross
which
were
donated
by
the
Drake-Lee
family.
The
interior,
recently,
refurbished,
is
conductive
to
liturgical
services
and
quiet
prayer
and
contemplation.
A
visit
is
strongly
recommended,
however,
should
one
hesitate
because
of
the
rigidity
(Canon
Law)
of
the
Catholic
Church,
I
proffer
this
eternal
truth:
That
for
the
Christian
Abraham
had
faith
without
the
aid
of
the
Law
to
guide
him,
because
he
lived
long
before
the
Law
was
given
to
Moses
on
Sinai,
and
so
his
faith
was
greater
than
those
who
lived
under
the
Law,
and
those
who
live
under
(Canon
Law).
