As
a
family
tradition
myself
and
my
sisters
book
an
afternoon
tea,
as
a
Christmas
gift
to
ourselves.
As
we
were
busy
leading
up
to
Christmas
we
decided
to
book
for
the
6th
January.
I
started
ringing
a
couple
of
weeks
before
Christmas,
I
emailed
them,
even
messaged
via
Facebook,
still
waiting
for
a
response
to
this
,
one
of
my
sisters
did
the
same
and
still
no
response.
We
really
did
want
to
go
here,
as
I
had
been
last
year
and
it
was
lovely.
We
decided
to
call
back
after
new
year,
but
agreed
to
go
on
13th
January
which
is
one
of
my
sister's
birthdays.
I
called
on
2nd
January,
imagine
my
surprise
when
someone
answered.
I
spoke
to
a
gentleman
,
and
arranged
a
booking
for
13th
Jan
1pm.afternoon
tea
for
3.
He
took
my
number
and
that
was
it.
13th
Jan
we
turned
up
to
a
busy
Laing's,
there
didn't
seem
to
be
many
staff,
and
there
were
people
standing
about.
We
waited
out
turn
,
and
a
lovely
waitress
asked
if
she
could
help,
I
knew
immediately
something
was
wrong
when
I
said
I
had
an
afternoon
tea
booked
.
Another
older
lady
then
asked,
they
checked
the
diary,
couldn't
see
my
name,
then
the
older
lady
said
we
don't
do
afternoon
teas
every
Saturday
and
proceeded
to
tell
me
something
about
Thursday
and
every
other
Saturday.
The
website
or
Facebook
page
didn't
say
any
of
this.
It
was
now
very
awkward,
I
asked
if
they
even
had
a
table
and
was
told
no.
By
now
it
was
1.30pm.
I
didn't
want
to
cause
a
fuss,
and
spoil
my
sister's
birthday.
So
I
said
the
the
to
the
young
waitress,
I
appreciate
this
is
not
your
fault,
but
I
would
like
to
speak
to
someone
in
charge,
not
now,
and
apologise
to
me
and
explain
what
had
happened.
She
took
my
details
,
we
ended
up
going
elsewhere
not
for
the
lovely
tea
we
had
planned,
but
a
nice
lunch
anyway.
That
evening
I
had
two
missed
calls
from
a
mobile
number,
I
can
only
assume
was
Laings,
but
no
message
was
left,
and
I
haven't
heard
from
them
since.
Such
a
shame.
We
were
really
looking
forward
to
it.
