I am a motorbility customer and recently my car had to go in for repairs and I was issued a coursty car from their sister company in Kings Cross. I've now had my owe car back for three days and they were suppose to come collect their vehicle. Three days later after the booking has ended I still have had no calls from them, I've tried to call them and not been successful. So now the car is not my responsibility it is not valid to park in my road any more. Any tickets that your vehicle has received are not my problem. RAC Motorbility has tried to contact them and not been successful. It's like they don't want their car back and its mine to keep. But I can say now will not be using them again as a motorbility customer. After so many tickets the car will be towed away by tower hamlet's council. May I add that the photos were taken when the car was delivered to my home address I can confirm it is not parked on double lines now it is taking up a residential parking bay.

My friend and I hire a van on the 11th of this month. No problem with the hiring and paying process. After we give back the van, which the agent say everything was fine, even the fuel was full, they start charging again for the whole hire even in different days, my friend had to cancel his card so they stop charging. They tried charging him 5 times after actually paying, 1 of them taking his money. He have been in contact with customer support, but they are not very helpful, they just say they will give the deposit back with a charge for the fuel (which they say it was full and gave us a paper that stated that) and the extra charged they have to "investigate" why it happen before giving our money back. So basically they have an error stealing money and they don't give it back. Definitely won't ever use this service again and I don't recommend anyone to use it, as they say one thing and do another. They steal your money and take ages to give it back, hopefully we notice, what happen with the people who does not? Still have to await for they response.

Very, very poor experience leaving me stressed last minute. We booked to hire a van weeks in advance, for a move outside of London, and were told today, ahead of Monday, that the van that we were going to use has been returned without a wing mirror, so they can't give it to us in that condition and therefore we wouldn't be able to hire it til later on Monday. Since this is for a move outside of London and we have a schedule for the day, it really thwarted our plans. We've now found a great place with excellent staff who have met our request last minute, but I expected so much more from Europcar and am really disappointed. It's not our problem the van has come back with damage - you would expect from such a large brand that they'd have contingency plan for this. Apparently there were no other vans from other branches either. Boohoo. We have organised a full refund though, after sitting on hold on the phone. They had one job!!

Shocking shocking shocking- they overbooked the cars and provided me with a smaller and cheaper car than what I paid for. Trying to get a partial refund is a joke. Customer services are off shore and I think you’d get more of a sensible answer from an animal than their customer service. Avoid at all cost. Collecting the car took almost 1.5 hours. The car was cleaned during the time I had paid to hire the car. Only 1 member of staff. Please allow yourself over 1 hour to collect the car. Customer service is poor. The staff on site do try but it’s clear that everything in this branch needs a overhaul. It appears everything is done on the cheap in this business hence why at every hurdle there is a problem. The only thing that isn’t cheap is the cost of hiring the car. There are some very wealthy people at the tops of their ivory towers in this business. If you are looking for a reputable hire company, this is not it. If you are looking to be given a car you booked or in the same class of car, it won’t happen. If you expect that you can speak to their customer service department and get a sensible answer. Not going to happen. Finally they do not do full protection- hmmm funny that. Is that because they are trying to make money from people unlawfully? Please take note that the poor reviews on here are very true. There are common themes with the complaints and you’ll notice that there are more 1* star reviews than any other star reviews. So many people can not be wrong about this company.

The car hire experience was good regarding the car and the service from staff at Lewisham (pick up) and Kennington (drop off), but all of this has been spoilt by the fact that I have been charged for 6 days hire when it should have been 3 days. Instead of apologies and an immediate refund I have been met with silence to my request for a refund. The promised email with reference number showing it is being investigated has not arrived and I am still waiting for the subsequently promised phone call to let me know what is happening. It is now almost a week since I was overcharged and I am still waiting. I shouldn't have been overcharged in the first place but it is even worse that my request for Europcar to put it right is being ignored.

I will NEVER use Europcar again - and I advise anyone thinking of doing so, to think again. And, if you're foolish enough to ignore my advice and they offer you the car in the picture - run a mile. Europcar rented me the car in the picture that suddenly kept losing power at speed - mainly in the fast lane of motorways. It was so bad (and the loss of power so quick) that I had no choice but to pull over and stop and, after it happend the second time, call the RAC. When I complained about it to Europcar they didn't want to know. They basically called me a liar because when I submitted the RAC diagnostic report and it didn't show up a specific fault, they said there was no proof of a problem. Wow. No proof of a problem!? The problem was so bad I was terrified whilst driving - constantly fearing it would happen again and I'd be invovled in an accident (or that if would happen on a section of motorway that didn't have a hard shoulder and I'd become one of those tragic fatal statistics you read about when smart motorways are slammed for being dangerous) My companion felt exactly the same way. On returning the car to Europcar's Lee Road, Lewisham, branch, the member of staff didn't even look up while I told him what had happened. He couldn't have sounded less interested or concerned if he'd tried. His only response was: "we don't deal with problems here, you'll have to contact customer services.' Wow. So, I did contact customer services (several times) and gave them a very thorough report of exactly what happened and said I honestly throught my and my companion's lives had been put at risk. They disagreed (they kept quoting the RAC report) and actually reprimanded me for not contacting them and complaining sooner. Wow. You would have thought that, at the vey least, they could have acknowledged my distress (maybe even with a 'goodwill gesture' refund on the hire, or similar) but no, nothing. NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY. I guess sometimes the old saying: 'you get what you pay for' is true. Europcar might be cheap compared to their competitors, but if they palm you off with a car that could kill you, then it's a no-brainer to pay a little more.

I have put £15 diesel before returning the car. It was full I couldn’t put any more diesel. I told the person I give keys that I have full up the van with diesel before I come and he said don’t worry everything is ok . I asked him again is everything ok he said yes. Next day I received my invoice and they charged me £8.35 extra I don’t understand.

The staff at both pickup and drop off were great. Unfortunately, the car had a strong smell of cigarettes and as a nonsmoker, this was a complete turn off. I did not have much of an alternative as I needed a car urgently for some errands, but next time, this can be a deal breaker.

They charged me 102 pounds to clean the car. Never use Europecar, I have never been charged to clean a hire car before. Please avoid at all cost. The car was also in a very long hire (3 months) and was also clean. NEVER USE!!!

Europcar are an utter joke of a company. How they manage to keep trading with how they run their business is astonishing. I made a booking via the website for a mid-size car from Lewisham branch for a week. It was cancelled 20 minutes later by Lewisham. The money has been marked to come off my account. I make a number of calls, manage to reserve a different vehicle. Money is taken again. I arrive to pick up the vehicle at 11am and am told it was cancelled at 7am as there’s no vehicles available. There website and booking system is an utter shambles. I now have £440 unavailable from my account and no vehicle. The service from all people I spoke to or dealt with was abysmal.

Oh Boy! What a horrible weekend using a EuroCar vehicle. I rented a car on 04/01/2024 come the 20/01/2024 I re- fuelled the vehicle with Diesel petrol via the instructions on The EuroCar key ring. Subsequently the fuelling information was incorrectly labelled as the car is an Unleaded vehicle. After calling out AA their recovery service they had to flush out the petrol tank and gave me £15 unleaded petrol to get me to the nearest petrol station. Leaving me £50 out of pocket and having to rely on cabs for 2 days to take me to hospital appointments etc. Which was a nightmare in its self using cab services. The AA even wanted to bill me for their services? EuroCar caused me stress inconvenience, out of pocket expenses and hours sitting around awaiting road side assistance. What a nightmare!

Staff at the Lewisham branch have been consistently courteous and efficient.

Fantastic personal service at pick up and return. Courteous and speedy. I was disappointed to get a rather old Renault Master van instead of a Mercedes Sprinter. Very pleased with change of booking arrangements given the disruption of the Royal Funeral Bank Holiday.

Great service - staff were very helpful and friendly especially Aliyah! When we found out they don't do out of hours drop offs, they were very accommodating in offering us pick up instead for a small charge, which went very smoothly.

Friendly and efficient service from aliyah when I needed to rent a van for a house move. Much cheaper than the other competitors and better service. Recommended

Great staff and quick service. Unfortunately, the car I chose wasn't available, I received a free upgrade to a slightly smaller vehicle but with more tech. Clean car, smooth ride, and really economy friendly. Overall, it is an easy to use service.

Got a missed call from the branch and an email saying my booking had been modified. Tried to call them back and you can't get through. Just on an endless auto response. DO BETTER.

The team who work there are professional and nice. The picking up and dropping off process was easy as long as you have everything you need (checklist / reminders are emailed or sent on the app before picking up the vehicle). I would definitely recommend Europcar in Lewisham.

I think this company treats certain customers well but motability customers are treated very badly. I needed a car while mine was being repaired to take me to my hospital appointments. No contact, no car. Very unsatisfactory treatment. No one ever....answers the phone at Kennington or Lewisham. I've been stuck at home for a week now.RSA insurance needs to take the contract away from Europecar.

Awful experience, I would not recommend booking here. 2 members of staff never delivered my car and then lied about why consistently. The company organising this on my behalf mentioned they have recieved numerous complaints reg. the branch. Do not book here.

I have rented 3 times over 18 months and twice after returning the car I have been charged extras after questioning the charge on both occasions I was refunded, but how many people haven’t questioned this and been charged unlawfully! I feel like it’s a scam they have going!

  • 1/5 Damien H. 9 months ago on Google
BE VERY CAREFUL !!! They will tell you things verbally that does not match the contract. Example: prepaid tank, I asked a couple of times if you get reimbursed if you return the car with let's say half tank full and they said yes (obviously was expecting they take a fee or a higher petrol price). Completely misleading the customer and a way to make an easy margin. My trust is broken with Europcar.

Such a terrible experience. I had a reservation for 18:00 but when I arrived there I was told that there is no van available and no valid reason nor apology was giving. The guy works there was so so cold telling me that I should check with entreprise car near buy. I left the branch speechless considering we are in a developed country where companies invest a lot in their customer satisfaction. Just wow

I booked an MG HS manual for 26-6-23 2pm to 29-6-23 6pm. The guy at the reception was extremely helpful. He offered to upgrade my selection to an automatic transmission MG HS for only £5/day (which was totally worth it) and also suggested to extend my booking until 30-6-23 2pm without any additional charges since I was paying for an extra day already by keeping the car until 6pm on the 29th. The car was new with only 9000 miles on it and I didn’t experience any issues. Would stronlgy recommend them and will definitely go back whenever I visit again.

Booked and paid in full for a pickup and got charged for outside business hours even though it’s Europcar staff delay to render service. Customer service complaint was very basic and dismissive without thorough investigation. Process designed to defraud innocent customers. Be Aware, better experience can be found elsewhere with similar established firms or even smaller ones can definitely do better. Will NOT be using again!!!!

Great experience. I've had some awful experiences with car hire companies, but Europcar never seem to let me down. Thanks guys!

Worst place to rent a car as a motability customer, I received the car on the 5th January 2023 by Monday the 10th the car stopped working as it needs battery replacement. When the car was dropped off to me on the 5th of January, it was dirty, smelly, low key battery and no wind screen washer. I personally think they don't give a dump about their customers safety. So I am now stuck again with no car. I can't drop my son to school meaning my son has to wake up at 6am in order to try n get a bus to school until further notice as my car will not be ready until March. Really upset as the car is also very uncomfortable and has aggravated my back , leaving me in pain since the 5th plus the stress of trying to sort out their mess has taken a toil on me. Staff are way too rude and unhelpful.

I'm giving 4 stars because it was expensive to rent for one way. Otherwise very happy with the service! Thank you to the person who served me for answering my questions and being patient with me!

Extremely disappointing experience at the Lewisham office: - Firstly, my previously booked mid-size car on the Europcar official website wasn't available when collecting it. They only offered a smaller size and made me pay for an 'upgrade' as it was automatic, which I didn't need. They blamed the booking system but made me pay for it. - Although I was allowed to make a one-day booking online and return the car on Sunday, the people in the office told me that Sunday they are closed, and I can only return on Monday. They promised at no extra cost. - I returned the car on Monday as soon as the office opened. One of the people who I spoke to at the check-in received the car. I was told all was good. - The day after, I received the final bill. I got charged for an extra day and paid for two days of a fake upgrade and two days of full insurance. In the end, more than double what I had already prepaid on Europcar's website. - I called customer service, and they advised me to go to the Lewisham office. - In the office, the same people who checked me in acknowledged the mistake but said they couldn't process any refund there. They mentioned they could only contact customer service to speed up the process. I haven't heard anything since. This is my last time with Europcar. Mistakes can happen, and I always understand that. However, this poor customer service, customers paying for Europcar site's flaws, and a totally inefficient way to deal with that is totally unacceptable.

Very poor experience in the Lewisham branch when picking up the car. Colleague called me just as I was arriving to let me know what I had booked wasn’t available. Offered no explanation no apology for the inconvenience. Called customer service who raised issue but was also no help. Paid much more than I booked and awaiting a refund - no one has reached out to confirm when or how this will be happening even though I logged with customer service. Only saving grace was when retuning car. It was smooth and easy. The man that served me originally hid from me, allowing a lovely gentleman to help. Again wondering if companies are prioritising customer service especially when hiring young people. Typing this is bring back the frustration of standing there for over an hour with no resolution until I had to work it out for the guy serving to to find a resolution. If I wasn’t in a rush and in such a bind I wouldn’t have bothered. Definitely don’t recommend - furthermore not sure how well their online live system Works for such a mishap to occur!!! Lastly the car I was given wasn’t even that clean 🤢

Nice staff, very good value van hire and a nicely kept van. However branch had limited stock and the van we booked on line was not actually avalable on the day, They sorted this by bringing us in a few hours later and offering us a larger van for the same price. So would use them again but would phone direct rather than booking online next time to make sure the vehicle we want is actually available.
