Wide range of lunchtime treats, beautifully prepared and tasting delicious. Excellent service and paying a 20 pound reservation fee ages ago made the meal excellent value. Only gripe was the toilets with loose, sliding seats and only a trickle of cold water for hand washing. Wheelchair accessible and a very large car park. Lovely drive on a sunny day.

I had a meal at the Pipe and Glass. The service here was impeccable, and you certainly felt well attended to with a group of wonderfully polite staff. My order was taken by someone who was clearly very knowledgeable about the menu, and with such a cheery and positive demeanour it made the experience that much better - and this was before the meal had even arrived. The food itself was impeccably good. The beef I had was promised as medium rare (though I was given the option to deviate from this should I have wished), and it arrived in precisely that condition. It was cooked to perfection. The vegetables with the beef could not have been cooked better. Every element of the dish clearly had a lot of thought and care put into it. The place was busy and yet you never felt like the place was drowning in custom. Everything arrived in good time and in good condition, and I can see why everyone was there (whether having a romantic meal or a celebratory dinner). It is overall a great place to eat and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Went for Sunday lunch as we had a voucher bought by family. Had to book a fair few weeks in advance but the meal was outstanding and definitely worth the wait. It is quite expensive but everything was amazing throughout the meal. Definitely one for a special occasion

Food, drinks and service were all amazing and very reasonably priced for a Michelin-starred restaurant. Our table shared several starters and mains tapas style and found all of the dishes delicious and were absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal. Highly recommended! 💯

This place is Michelin starred, as if my review would make any difference to whether or not you go 🤣 That said... This really is a wonderful place; the kind and attentive staff are the perfect accompaniment to exquisite food, beautifully refreshing drinks, and decor that finds a balance between comfortably traditional Inn and lends itself to a next level experience. Lovely artwork throughout, some of which is available for sale bringing yet another lovely and unexpected twist to your visit, complimented by their own on site shop and a truly fantastic garden! Just go already. You won't be disappointed.

Been several times and always impressed! Locally sourced food, well thought out menus with a good selection no matter what your taste is. Great bar offer of drinks and wine to compliment the food. Staff are always welcoming and will go the extra mile without asking. Top notch across the board, we will be returning, again!

Wow, what can I say about this place?? Atmosphere is wonderful, food is beyond amazing, staff are attentive without being intrusive, no pretention at all - just wow!! Already booked to return in a few weeks and my mouth is watering already! Thank you to all the staff that made out visit extra special on my birthday; after 2 years of covid ridden birthdays it's been a welcome and we'll enjoyed treat!!

Lovely place. Just gorgeous. Room was close to perfect. Grounds are lovely. Staff are brilliant. Beer is out of this world. However, the food really wasn't much to write home about. It's ok. And surely the world's worst wine list. Bottles repeated etc. The Primitivo was delicious but other wines disappointed. Go here for the place not the food/wine!

So impressed the first time, we ate here again just a few weeks later. We went for lunch both times. Lovely delicious sounding menu and it lives up to how it sounds… so flavoursome. Even though it is officially fine dining it is, in my view, much more pleasantly rustic with bags of flavour, colour, texture. You feel as if you've eaten something wonderfully good for you but hugely tasty as well. But beware it is all very filling and you really do you have to make room for pudding - I had the chocolate five ways, can't remember exactly what it's called but it was enough for about five people. The fact that both times we were there the place was rammed (mid week) speaks volumes. We will definitely be going again. Thank you!

A big disappointment. Starter was excellent but the fish pie l had as a main course could have been bought from Iceland (not the country). My wife's steak for £36 was tough and the sweet l had, 3 small scoops of ice cream and some cinder chocolate, was pleasant enough but £10? The staff were friendly but that was the only good thing about the place. A Michelin star, do me a favour

Treated ourselves to a birthday lunch at this lovely location. There was a good selection of dishes and the food was excellent, as you would expect for a Michelin starred pub, but the prices were not exorbitant. A great place for a special celebration.

Perfect spot to spoil yourselves. We stayed overnight in a beautiful room after enjoying a lovely meal. The breakfast was fantastic, perfect poached eggs with my full English. Hope to return one day

All the previous reviews are correct, it's a fantastic place. The menu reflects the local area and uses seasonal produce wherever possible. It's honest and doesn't follow stupid trends that a lot of other Michelin star restaurants do. I can't fault it. Five stars.

My husband treated me to a night here for my 60th and it was a complete joy from start to finish. We have eaten here before but never stayed. May is a beautiful month and nature at its best. We stayed in Thyme which was perfect in every way. Lots of lovely touches. The meal was as one might expect absolutely fabulous and my husband was delighted to see he wasn't bring ripped off on wine prices. The ambience was lovely and staff attentive but discreet. Thank you .

There are not enough words to describe the wonderful meal and service we received while using the private dining room upstairs. Louise was unbelievable , describing everything, checking on our needs, topping up our drinks but then also leaving us to enjoy the afteenoon and chat. Nothing was too much trouble !. The courses we had were just amazing, beautifully presented and so very, very tasty. Our afternoon was just magical and as guests a very special treat. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Many thanks!

We ate here for Father's day and sat outside on the rear garden terrace. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The staff here are brilliant and the food was lovely. We had four separate starters and mains and each course looked and tasted lovely with fresh ingredients they use from their own garden. It's a Michelin star restaurant but it still has that country pub feel which I love, as there were cyclists and people with dogs also eating and drinking in the pub area and at the front of the pub. Would recommend.

We had the best evening meal here! Managed to get a seat in the bar, as hadn’t had a chance to book. Food fabulous, beautifully presented, great service too. Our server Louise was lovely! 100% recommend!

Top class food and a lovely dining experience for my mum's 90th birthday. We travelled quite a distance but it was worth it and will return. Staff were very welcoming and service excellent. Try it, you'll love it!

Huge disappointment if this is Michelin star restaurant I wonder how the food was not even close to the standard. Not even the breakfast was much good and having to fully order and submit the night before is wrong. The room was superb good quality and high standard but that’s it’s where the quality was. The ipa ale was shocking. The staff are very nice and apologetic for the faults how ever would prefer there to have not been any in first place.

Just decided to go to the pipe and glass for a bar meal. Was going to have the fish pie, instead had on the recommendation of our friendly waiter, fish and chips. It was not on the menu but he heard me saying I'd fancied fish and chips and voalla. Cod loin in a light batter with chunky chips and garden peas done to perfection.

A lovely lunch at one michelin star. We both really enjoyed our stone bass and fillet steak. The restaurant well managed with service and table lay out which you never feel cramped or listen to other people conversation. l highly recommend to go for Pipe& Glass Rose (house wine) Taste great! We would give 4.5/5 in this occasion as the front of the house lady and one of the waitress a bit less welcome over than that every guys there were amazing.

From the moment we arrived at the Pipe & Glass we felt at home and comfortable in the surroundings. A beautiful setting in the quiet village of South Dalton. The rooms were spotlessly clean, well appointed and we loved the private outdoor seating area (Swaledale).Luxury linens, fittings and upholstery, super comfortable bed and small touches of fresh milk, homemade cookies and coffee machine were greatly appreciated. We dined in the restaurant and all 4 of our group found each of the 3 courses extremely well presented, a fantastic balance of flavours with an inspired and original menu. Our favourite dishes were the crab starter and halibut main. Without exception, each member of staff we encountered were confident, professional, approachable and pleasant. A delightful experience we cannot wait to repeat. Top marks to all concerned - this is how hospitality should be!

6 of us had the most fantastic lunch here today. All of our meals were beautifully presented , arrived together and were hot and delicious. Attention to detail superb. Excellent waiting staff who were there where you needed them but not annoyingly hanging around. We werent rushed at all and everything was just perfect.

I can't speak highly enough about this restaurant. Sheer quality in every respect, with a huge emphasis on 'taste' in all respects. Each staff member takes great pride in how well they provide their service. The owners have certainly created an environment where quality and enjoyment is important to everyone. Having finished our lunch and taking a stroke around the environs we bumped into one of the chefs gathering herbs in their cottage garden. He generously gave if his time to talk about the various herbs and their uses. Yet another highlight of the day for my wife - a keen gardener.

Visited for a family member's birthday and were not disappointed. The food was incredible, delicious and filling, which can be rare at Michelin starred restaurants. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Can't wait to return!

Exquisite food, lovely ambience, and the friendliest staff of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. The Pipe and Glass is expensive but as a treat, it’s worth every penny. I had the partridge risotto from the specials board with sticky toffee pudding to finish, and my partner had bangers and mash followed by a trio of apple deserts. The portions aren’t small like you might expect but also aren’t overwhelmingly large - reasonable portions of high quality food sums it up best and you won’t feel unsatisfied once you have finished. Due to the travel distance for me personally it’s unlikely that we will come back but if we’re in the area we will definitely visit again. Would recommend to anyone - 10/10

We are staying in one of the rooms in the lambing shed and must say the room is fabulous. Booked table and the food is stunning and very tasty. We'll done to all the staff for making us feel welcome. Service was outstanding and would recommend a visit. I know we will be back Thank you for a great stay

Great evening meal, all the food was delicious, the staff very attentive and lovely atmosphere. Staying in the Lambing Yard was amazing, total luxury and the little extras like homemade cookies, made it special. Breakfast back in the pub was so tasty, plenty to eat and drink at the highest standard. Excellent night away

I did not make use of the facilities or product bit the establishment is truly beautiful. I had the privilege in my short time in visiting to have met the owner James. One only can be left in awe & admiration to James's approach, ethics and personality and his contribution to both his employees & the community is absolutely wonderful. What a privilege and time spent.

Yet another wonderful meal at the Pipe & Glass. Superb and very personal service. Food which is excellent and an ambience which is rich and homely. We prefer to dine on a lunchtime and the P & G experience is not diminished at this time. And for what you get, the value for money is unbelievable. Well done to James and his excellent team for a wonderful meal and experience. As you can imagine, we will back again. Very soon too.
