A aircraft museum run by volunteers with free entry. This place is focused on the invention of the Jet in Cheltenham and is well worth a visit. A small cafe at the front provides refreshments. Full wheelchair access inside and more difficult stones outside, but still possible. It is alongside a working airport... While we were there a Vampire and a Yak landed...along with many modern light aircraft.

A different day out today. A visit to the Gloucester Jet Age Museum. Gloucester is the birthplace of the jet plane in the UK and the first, the Gloster E28 was built in Brockworth in 1941 and officially flown at RAF Cranwell later that year. It was a fascinating little museum that relies from donations. Lots of aviation history.

So I went to the Jet age museum based at Staverton airport today. I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing it was. Firstly it’s free entry but you can leave a donation and please please do because they really deserve it. When I entered I was greeted by some really nice volunteers that help run the place who are knowledgable and are really easy to chat to. They also have all the right facilities for whoever is going. Toilets as you walk in plus a really nice cafe where you get some really nice and reasonably priced snacks and drinks. We enjoyed going around the museum as they had many interesting exhibits to see plus you can even get a tour of two of the plane where you can learn about the aircraft’s and sit in the pilots seat. This is a great place to bring the family as their is plenty for everyone to enjoy. They only open the weekends but I have had a great day out and will be back soon. Thank you for a great day.

This was my 2nd visit, and it looked like there were a few new additions outside. Had a very warm welcome as this was a meeting point for a classic car drive out. Some very interesting aircraft and a good walk through of the bristish jet engine history. If you get the chance to climb into the Vulcan cockpit pit its well worth it. Keep up the good work.

We had a brilliant time on our visit today! My son had a trail to complete around the museum (for which he won a prize 🤫 I shan’t spoil the surprise), the opportunity to go in some planes should he wish (he did not 🤣) and we even had coffee and cake in the cafe afterwards. However, what made the museum - without a doubt - was the volunteers. Everyone was so friendly and so knowledgeable. We shall definitely be back! (My husband was rather annoyed we went without him! 😂)

Free entry. Friendly and knowledgeable volunteer staff. Some lovely older jetcplanes to admire. Various cockpits you can climb in to. Interesting cockpit talk and tour of the first airliner to feature automatic landing. Well worth popping in to take a look round.

It is a great museum highlighting the important role that Gloucestershire played in Britain's aviation history! With an added bonus that you can go into some of the cockpits of the aircraft! I can't believe that it is FREE to enter, run entirely on donations, and by very knowledgable volunteers.

Great! Small but beautifully put together aviation museum, staffed by volunteers who clearly love what they do. Free entry but it really deserves a generous donation. Any aviation buff keen on ww2 and post war jets will be in their element here. Highly recommended. Open weekends only.

This is one of the best value for money attractions that I have ever been to. It is free to enter (donations are welcome, but they don't pressure you for them). It's a reasonably sized museum, with a good amount to see. The volunteers are enthusiastic and really know their stuff. Being honest, I'm not all that interested in planes but the enthusiasm and knowledge of the volunteers meant I was very happy listening to what they had to say. They offer free tours of the Vulcan (which we managed) and another plane, but that was closed when we visited. It's worth arriving early to get your place on the tour - they fill up fairly quick! But the tour was genuinely fascinating. We also used the cafe, which was unbelievably cheap too. It's fairly basic, but we were all very happy with what we had. There were a couple of homemade cakes on offer. We left, and my 6 year old wanted to go back next week. To be honest, we'd be quite tempted to join him! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone in the area. For reference, we took a a family of four, with a 6 year old and a 3 year old, plus two grandparents. Everybody had a great time!

This is a very important collection and a great place to take children if they are interested in aircraft. There is one of Whittle's first jet engines and the first airworthy unit (as well as the aircraft). Well worth an hour or two. Longer if this is your thing.

I love planes and I recommend this to everyone. Lovely staff, free (you can put a donation) tours of planes, you can sit in the pilot. Absolutely necessary place to visit.

A must for any aviation fan, particularly those partial to Gloster aircraft and the Avro Vulcan👌 Personal best for me, being a massive Vulcan fan was the cockpit tour of the Vulcan (XM569). Excellent museum packed with information. There is no entrance fee but please do donate what you can, we all know how much it costs to turn a light bulb in these days 🙄

A little gem!! There are some fascinating exhibits here - focussed on the development of jet aircraft in and around Gloucester. You don't realise just how brave some of the early and war-time pilots were. It's nicely laid out - and there is a cafe and toilets. Very well worth a visit. Easy access from the M5 - J11. I can't believe that this museum is free to enter.... but it is. Strongly recommended.

Had an excellent visit to the museum. The volunteers were extremely helpful. The visit to the Trident cockpit was excellent. Very informative museum members. Only a small place but had a lot of exhibits and information. Definitely worth a visit for any aviation enthusiast. Works on donations for entrance fee so give the best you can. These small places are the backbone of our history and need to be preserved and grown. Special mention to the young lad at the cockpit exhibit. ( sorry didn’t get your name), very informative and friendly. A credit to his family and to the museum.

Some amazing exhibits here especially if you're an aviation nerd or just a big (or small) kid who loves planes. Particularly enjoyed the Trident cockpit tour. Need to come back for the Vulcan once they reopen it. Helpful volunteers, free entry, free tours of the bookable bits.

Great discovery! A fascinating insight into Gloucestershires contribution to aviation and more importantly the jet engine. My father was thrilled to find a Meteor 7 there, which he worked on in the RAF. Staffed by volunteers, free entry but donations gladly accepted.

Fantastic little museum with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers and lots of interesting exhibits. My sons (six and eight) particularly enjoyed sitting in the fighter jet cockpits and the guided tour of the Trident airliner was excellent. Well worth a visit.
