My visit to Harcourt Aboretum today has left me feeling a bit puzzled. Pleasant enough but I won’t be rushing to go again. I went expecting to learn something about the trees growing here and the work being done but after an hour walking a suggested trail I came away none the wiser. Entry cost was £6.30 which goes towards the upkeep of the site (I guess). Except I could go for a walk in any number of woodlands for free and have a similar experience. I suppose if you’re really interested and knowledgeable about trees it would be an excellent place to visit. Or maybe if you want somewhere conducive to meditation or perhaps a picnic. For me the only slight advantages were a car park included with the entry fee and portaloos near the entrance. Other than that the mobile cafe was closed and there were no trail maps available for my visit although I could’ve photographed a copy to use on my phone. The site is fairly accessible with a few minor inclines. Paths are mostly packed stone or packed bark and could be negotiated with a pram, buggy or electric wheelchair/mobility scooter. The car park has a stony surface with a strengthening grid and is partly sheltered by the trees.

Lovely walks and plenty of peafowl strutting their stuff. There's actually a mobile cafe there at weekends, too.

Lots of parking, very reasonable entrance fee and as much or as little walking as you choose. You can walk the open meadow or amble through the trees. Ten minutes spent watching the rare breed pigs rooting for food is time well spent. Spot the peacocks, peahens and chicks wandering the site. Then enjoy a great coffee and I mean a GREAT coffee on your way back to the car. All in all a fabulous place to visit.

Large park with great collection of grand old trees. I ignored the map and just wandered where my feet took me. Lots to see so allow a good amount of time to be with the trees. Beautiful summer meadow full of butterflies and crickets.

Went for the first time today with my partner, what a gorgeous place! Lots of trees and daffodils in bloom. One of the staff there was very friendly and gave us some Information about the place. We'll be back here for the summer for sure!

The Autumn colours are coming into their own expecially the Acers. My Husband had a lovely walk and I enjoyed too but on my mobility scooter.

It's a beautiful and pieceful place with lots of wildflowers, sunny and shaded foot paths. You can take your shoes off, feel the grass. I took a longer root and spent around 3 hours in the park.

Nice place where to walk. Maples/ acer on early autumn colour. Currently have maintenance ongoing therefore car park looks like mess. Gravel and grass on the walkways. Lovely peacocks on site.

Adore this place. We've been coming for 20+ years with our own kids and now they're older we're able to take our young niece. Paths galore, towering majestic trees, peacocks, squirrels, birds (jays and nuthatch on last visits), and a cute coffee place with THE best brownies. Massive recommendation.

This was our first visit to Harcourt Arboretum and we had a very enjoyable afternoon. Coincidently it was the day of the Autumn Fair, although we hadn't planned it. We enjoyed a hot chocolate and looked at all the craft stalls, children's petting area, watched a tree climbing display and went on a guided tour around a small area of the site. Our volunteer guide, Peter, was very informative and knowledgeable about the trees on our walk. He then mentioned the giant mushrooms in the adjacent field, and after the talk we had to investigate. We were not disappointed they we're huge! We will definitely visit again. Waterproof footwear is advisable.

Nice place for a stroll a good variety of trees some of which are quite amazing to see. Not huge so can easily be walked around in a couple of hours. May be lovely to sit in when the weather suits. Shame that road noise is quite disturbing in some areas.

Great spot for a walk with an eclectic mix of tree and plant species to observe. Good parking facilities and really nice coffee & cake from the HorseBox Coffee bar... Highly recommended

I really love this place. Might be boggy and wet after the rain but it's one of the most peaceful and refreshing places that I have been. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. They gave us a map and took time to explain where we should walk. I would definitely go here once in a while to destress.

The sign for pedestrian is not very conspicuous, and I fell off from the lawn to the road when I try to go to the gate, which actually for car. The gate for pedestrian is across from the bus stop.

Wasn't too sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The family and I went for an afternoon out to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we thoroughly enjoyed walking around the nature reserve and learning about endangered trees. However, the lady at front desk was rather rude and the plaquards themselves weren't very well written and often repeated themselves. But a lovely place for a picnic or to feel like you've stepped away from city life. PS. the highlight for me was seeing their resident peacocks!

Great place to spend a few hours wandering around looking at trees and plants, especially in the sunshine! Toilets poor, but understand new ones are being built. Horsebox Coffee Co is great coffee, with tables to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Picnic tables also available.

Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, well kept gardens with paths taking different routes through the arboretum. Children have an activity paper to make the walk interesting for them and their parents. Definitly well spent day would really recommend.

Nice and peaceful. Man made park and stick to paths. Good for children and any other generations too. Can be very busy in peak times and not as peaceful.
