Incredibly beautiful and historic place. The Iona community offered services in the main abbey church at 9am and 9pm. The community was very welcoming. It was nice to attend a worship service and then take the tour with audio guide. The small museum is not to be missed! It contains what may be the first high Celtic cross!!

We had a wonderful day on the island. Taking the ferry from Fionnport , it's only a short boattrip. After visiting the Abby and Nunnery we had a beautiful walk on the Island. Not to miss when on the Isle of Mull !!

Beautifully restored Abbey, very interesting audio guide, I wish I could have had the guided tour. Do not forget to visit the museum. It’s almost too new for my taste but after visiting the nunnery you get a vision of how it must have been when the community started rebuilding it.

I'm not religious and I always thought iona Abbey would be an empty ruin with its 1500 years aging. It was surprisingly well worth the £10 entry . I didn't even mind paying it despite several easy 'skip In for free' areas around it . So we'll maintained and a fascinating history . Don't skip in... that entry money is doing some brilliant restoration work . 👏

Hundreds of years of the faithful praying and worshipping has soaked into the stones of this place. Be still and you can feel the holiness. Expertly restored and maintained ancient place of worship. Attend a service if you can most nights at 9pm as well as Sunday. Thanks to the Iona Community for keeping the site relevant. Steeped in History. Take your time to learn about it. Be sure to see the museum as well.

I came here to (Mull/Iona) on pilgrimage to the Orthodox Monastery of All Celtic Saints. What blessings I have received and still am receiving from this holy place. Yes, it is a tourist attraction and you can process it beautifully that way. But it's "true reality", the "real foundation" of Iona is in its roots in "Celtic Orthodox Christianity!" I sojourned to Iona not to visit it but rather to actually experience it through prayer and contemplation.

A beautiful, deeply historic experience. I wanted to visit because of my own fascination with the Book of Kell's, but I now have a new fascination with Saint Columbo and early monastic life in Scotland! Our guide was fantastic, keeping the information peppered with some dad jokes, and I wish we'd had more time to ask random questions about the architecture of the church.

This is a wonderful place to visit. Even if you’re not religious. It’s very calm and peaceful and there are so many historic things to see. The shops are curated very well and have a lot to offer, and there is even a small convenient store where you can pick up some food. It’s lovely to walk around here. I would love to come back and stay here for a few days.

Iona is a wonderful plane and the abbey and nunnery are mystical relics of the past. Celtic crosses dot the landscape as if pointing you to a greater power. The abbey entrance fee is well worth it. Find your inner spirit and embrace the solace here.

Sadly the Abbeys IT system was down and we needed to book online to book a tour of the Abbey that I never had time to do as I was time limited due to being part of a coach tour but will definitely revisit one day and get an actual tour of the Abbey! I visited the cemetery and nunnery that had lots of historical information and a feeling of peace in the air.

The sense of peace from Iona is in due part to the Abbey and monastery, amidst its sense of place in early Christianity in the UK. The museum at the back is a particular highlight as is the area dedicated to its campaigns and awareness activities.

I would suggest if wanting to visit Abbey to not be part of a tour visiting island as will have more free time and if chose to stay on either Mull or Iona would have more relaxed experience. Iona very peaceful and ambience never left despite large amount of tourists. The Abbey looked interesting and would have visited but reception delaying visitors due to numbers which was reasonable and I did not feel 9.50 for what for me would have been 15mins visit would have been worthwhile. Several buildings containing meuseuem and art gallery said open but had makeshift back in ten minutes sign but didn't!! Nunnery ruins...original Chapel.. jhon smiths grave..visited..and quick wander on beach gave an impression and will be back under own steam for more thorough visit.

Lovely Abbey. Beautiful views. No toilets or cafe at the Abbey, but there is a place over the road.

My first visit to Iona and I will definitely be back. Beautiful white sandy beach, beautiful walks and a wonderful monastery for quiet contemplation. Combined this visit with a trip to Mull and Staffa. Superb experience

Well worth the long drive from Tobermory. Our first visit to Iona. Both beautiful and dramatic. If you are looking for a location for peace and reflection Iona is for you.

My God, where do you start? Simply stunning ancient and beautifully preserved Abbey complex that oozes history from each and every corner. See grave markers, cloisters, ancient High crosses and buildings with spectacular carvings to name just a few. Well worth the entry price as you also get an audio guide that is very helpful in explaining what you are looking at. Magnificent experience and highly recommended.

A nice little Abbey on the beautiful Isle of iona. If you want peace and quiet with white sandy beaches, look no further, stunning.

Iona Abbey was absolutely beautiful. It was quiet, peaceful and felt very surreal. You could feel the history and the peace walking around and throughout the nunnery. I lit a candle for my grandmother who passed away in April at the church and it was an emotional and spiritual moment I will never forget. They have a little museum in the back of the Abbey filled with all the history of the church that I highly recommend people go and check out. It was incredible to read about how the Abbey perservered throughout history.

I would say this is a "must see" if you visit Mull. A good drive or bus trip from Craignure. No tourist cars allowed on the island. A short ferry ride. It's quite a spiritual place for many people & pilgrims. You can just visit the Nunnery ruins & Abbey or walk around the island as well if you want to do more.

This is a beautiful serene island. We travelled from Fort William as a day trip. Worth visiting if you like christian history, a sense of monastic life, and the tranquility of a small Scottisg Island.

If you go to Isle of Mull there is no question you need to take a day trip to Isle of Iona. The Abbey and history are incredible plus the cute shops and lunch stops! Go, take your time, and enjoy the beauty!
