Over the past year I have attended three different classes at the Community Kitchen, one with Chef Kanthi (knife skills), one with Chef Minesh (Mamaji's chicken) and one with Chef Diego (fish cookery), and they have all been top notch. The venue is well-equipped and in a convenient location, the staff and volunteers are just lovely, and it is definitely value for money, given that the funds generated from running these classes help aid community projects. The classes themselves with each of the chefs were excellent and I learned so much in each of them! It was also a great opportunity to meet some new people and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and kitchen adventures (and misadventures!) Highly recommended.

I did the vegan food class with my 17 year old. It was excellent. Really clean. Clear instructions and friendly chef. We made a BBQ pulled jackfruit and a vegan mac and cheese. The cost of the class helps to fund community projects and classes. Had fun, learned new skills and felt good to be contributing to such an amazing group.

Really been impressed with the courses I've done here. Cake decorating, fermented food, gut health have all been fabulous. And really close to Brighton Station and the centre of town.

We approached Brighton Community Kitchen with a slightly silly idea that perhaps they could arrange a birthday bake-off for 10-12 people. They jumped on the idea and really ran with it to make it a lovely success! They already knew a pastry chef, Charlotte ( @charlottesofbrighton ), who gave me a call a couple of weeks beforehand to see if there was anything in particular I wanted us to bake, or any tweaks I wanted to the proceedings. The birthday patisserie bake-off was amazing honestly - my friends got SO excited to hear about it and were so keen to come. It was great that the team at the Brighton Community Kitchen was very open to the idea we had for this party, especially as it might have been a bit different from what the venue usually does. On the day it honestly didn't disappoint! They even let us bring one extra person last-minute. The team was lovely and we were really well looked after by staff and a volunteer - they did all the tidying and washing up at light-speed, taking all the annoying parts out of baking. Everyone was really welcoming and it was brilliant to hear what the kitchen does in its wider work. Glad we came here, to somewhere with a social purpose, rather than some other trendy class that would have charged twice the price. I'm really happy you got hold of Charlotte to do this event too, she's super down-to-earth and great at explaining what we needed to do. Also very touched that volunteers put their time into making this a truly charming success. Thanks for putting up with us all singing, dancing and cackling loudly at our own jokes about 'Paris-Brest' and 'cupping the bag' ... you're all amazing! I'll definitely keep an eye on future events at BCK and would recommend to anyone else wanting a culinary-based party!

Attended the Bake with a Legend course at the weekend which was bought for me as a present. The venue is ideally situated near the station and was spotless and well equipped. The staff are super friendly and the session with Andrew Smyth from GBBO was great fun. Loved it so much have booked another class in January with Kenny from Masterchef!

We had an amazing experience last week making Bao buns with the team. Jethro and the volunteers were fab. Jo made the booking experience easy and made us feel super welcome on the day. We loved supporting the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership too :)

Me and a friend went to an EXCELLENT sushi class here, run by the lovely Jethro. He was perfectly relaxed and funny whilst remaining very professional. Informative, but not too heavy on the talking - there was a lot of practical preparation for us to do. The kitchen itself is sparkling clean and very well equipped. The volunteers did a great job at clearing around us and washing up - but I heard they got a new dishwasher which will help with this process! Loved the sit down meal at the end, and went home with a tonne of sushi to share with my housemates. Will be looking to book another class here soon and encouraging my friends to join me - especially since the profit from theses classes goes back in to the free/low cost community courses which support various vulnerable groups of people.

I have attended several cookery sessions at the Community Kitchen and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them - and learned a lot. The sessions have been well organized, and have been supported by an excellent team of volunteers. These cookery sessions offer a really enjoyable and creative evening out for singles or couples, culminating in a shared meal of all the delicious food we have just cooked. High recommended!

I did the Vegan Tea Party baking course with Charlotte and it was fantastic! We made four delicious treats (brownies, berry cupcakes, spiced courgette muffins and gooey delicious marshmallow and peanut cookies). Charlotte is a great teacher and after her demonstrations the recipes were so easy to follow. It was fun working with a partner and feasting with some bubbly (or tea) at the end. I can't wait to try the recipes at home. Highly recommended!

We hired the kitchen for a Masterchef-style party. It was a brilliant venue, with enough cooking stations and seating for a big group of us to have a brilliant afternoon cooking our competing dishes and then enjoy eating them together. The staff were really friendly and helpful, letting us come and visit to check out the space and plan things in detail. They were also so encouraging of us to have a great time; I felt such a warm, friendly vibe from everybody I met there. I would definitely recommend it as a venue to hire, and I can't wait to try out one of their classes another time!
