"Pugins Masterpiece!".... Having gained inclusion on the World Heritage Site list. This amazing example of Gothic architecture(The Houses of Parliament being designed by Pugins father), this Franciscan Monastery, where I attended the youth club as a teenager, is once again serving at the heart of this community. Father Gerrard would stop in the street and chat, everyone in West Gorton knew him. Mrs Cope my mate Jimmy's mum, who lived across our Close, would scrub the floors at the Monastery In the late 70's/early 80's, she was a devout lady and was dedicated to her task, despite the weather, that included early mornings in the winter cold. The outstanding edifice dominating the landscape, is for me Notre Dame, Canterbury Cathedral, York Minster!, but the heady thing is it's on my doorstep, and I was always able to go in there, as a teenager, I could have, but it was a place of worship for the community, but I didn't either attend that school, or believe particularly in God, which I do now, in the form of Jesus Christ. Enough said go and have a look yourself. Check the website for the future diversity of events, befitting this unique venue, rescued from dereliction and now going from strength to strength. Be assured you won't be disappointed.

Really wasn't expecting to find this little gem hiding in Gorton Manchester. Slightly disappointed to find that it wasn't a working church and that that the friars had left some years ago. Great to see this building has been preserved and restored. Built and designed by Pugin, this is an impressive building which was built not along the standard lines for churches but to maximise the light that will fall on the saints as the sun shines through. The main naive is majestic creating a sense of awe and wonder. The healing garden is an oasis of peace and there is a delightful little coffee shop. If you are in the area well worth a visit.

We attended a concert with afternoon tea provided. My only comment would be that the tea and coffee pots were put on the table too soon. They went cold and we had to ask for fresh ones. That aside we thoroughly enjoyed the event

We went for After noon tea with the Jersey Boys tribute act. They were fabulous, had everyone singing and dancing. Food OK, slow brining out the food, tea was warm not hot. Coffee was hot and a good taste. Cakes were really nice super soft sponge and tasty. The Monetary is great, beautiful and really interesting. We'll worth a visit, they have regular Afternoon teas with lots of other artists and also Candlelight evenings.

Great night. Fleetwood mac by candlelight. A bit let down with the seating. A bit too close for me as they were shoulder to shoulder. As you can see from the first picture. Overall though a very good experience.

Located in the centre of Bury, the museum is housed in an impressive building with some lovely stained glass. Plenty to see with a good mixture of photography, paintings and sculpture. There's a children's activity area and a fabulous tea room . Well worth a visit and easily reached by bus and tram. The museum has disabled access and is free to enter.

We had our wedding at The Monastery in November 2023 and it was sensational. The team there are kindly, reassuring and professional. From start to finish the wedding planner Chloe was organised, helpful and reassuring - I enjoyed every moment of planning the wedding with her. She was there with me on the day and helped create a relaxing morning with zero worries. The operations team made the day run smoothly and the transition from ceremony to drinks/photos and then into the meal was seamless. The food was top tier, my guests could not compliment it enough and the catering team and staff were efficient and attentive. Overall, it really was a perfect day

Attended a wedding here and had an amazing day. My only negative comment is that gravy boats were put on all the tables first and it was cold by the time our food arrivef. The side vegetables/potatoes on our plates weren't as warm as the meat. This is a wonderful setting to get married in and well worth having a look at if you don't want a church or registrar service and are looking for a wow venue with ample parking

Attended soundbath there for first time. Beautiful venue. Intend to attend guided tour of monastery next week. Today's class went well. John, who conducted, the class seemed very experienced and made everyone feel relaxed. His soothing voice also aided the performance. Left feeling calm, recalibrated and at peace. Excellent class.

Went for a visit on Friday night at short notice to the Queen by Candlelight, the venue was stunning inside, obviously alot of work has been completed, the Healing Garden look lovely at night with lights around the trees, the lady at reception on arriving was fantastic, helped us out with advice where to go for a meal and which busses to catch into Manchester Centre,

The place itself seems like a great venue. However we think the event we went to and left a half time was a total con. It was advertised as 'the songs of George Michael by candle light'. What is actually was - a VERY loud, very dodgy Wham/GM tribute act. Rubbish and at £80not cheap. Not happy! 😡

Well worth a visit especially if you have an interest in history of Manchester. It's a place of great calm. Cafe has an interesting menu that caters for all tastes. Very friendly atmosphere and seems to be a meeting place for friends and acquaintances. There was a yoga class running which is wonderful.

This is such a lovely peaceful place. The story of the building is both inspiring and heartbreaking. Seeing what a great community hub it is now is truly life affirming. We're booking for the Carol Service but the lovely food in the cafe might bring us back sooner!

Proper swanky gaff. Fukin beautiful. But nobody that worked there smiled, had to w8 an age for food, and why is there mic and p.a. so everyone can hear the ceremony. Slightly disappointed to be fair. Glad I didn't pay for it ha ha

Have driven past this lovely building a fair few times. Decided to pop in for a coffee and look around. Was not disappointed the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Lovely central gardens you can walk around. The cafe is a lovely and peaceful area for a coffee and cake and also lunch if you fancy. Would definitely recommend to local people or even visitors visiting this great city from afar.

Fantastic venue, plenty of parking. Slightly let down by being in what appeared to be quite a run-down area.

Been connected to the Monastery since 1986 when it was still a working community. Building became derelict after Monks moved out and now has a new life as an event centre. Site organisers are hoping to get the Organ replaced when funds are available.

Monastery is a multi purpose building for different events. Been lovingly restored after being vandalized. Plenty of parking and cafe, toilets and outside garden

Visiting the Monastery was a very nice experience. Such a peaceful environment! I had the opportunity to speak with one of the Listeners and I strongly recommend this to everyone. The listener was so kind, we had a nice and productive conversation around things that were in my mind at that time.

Very interesting guided tour of the history of the monetary. Lovely garden to sit and have something from the cafe. Fresh and healthy food, as well as the naughty cakes, at very reasonable prices. My friends and I enjoyed our time there. Recommend.

Worth a visit for the history. I visited on a day there was a craft fare on and o really enjoyed it. There were some great stalls and I picked up some reasonably priced gifts for Christmas. It was much better than makers market

From the moment we stepped foot in The Monastery, we knew it was going to be our wedding venue. We were looking for a place with history, true Northern roots and elegance, whilst still having charm, and The Monastery was the perfect choice. We also loved the fact that The Monastery is independently owned by a charitable trust, with any event proceeds used to maintain The Monastery and support it's community and outreach work. The team at The Monastery were incredible from day one, particulary our Wedding Coordinator, Chloe, to whom absolutely nothing was ever too much trouble, and the Event Manager, Neil, who was on hand for the entire wedding day to make sure everything went perfectly. The Monastery looked spectacular, and our day was a complete dream. I am so grateful to the Monastery for making this happen and giving us the best day of our whole lives.
