Plenty to see in many rooms over the eras. Lots of Bronze Age, Middle Age and more archeological finds on show with good explanations and references. My young son was amused also.

Lovely place to wander around. Nice range of topics, both ancient and modern. Staff friendly. Just wish it had a place to buy tea :-)

This is a bit of a tardis of a museum with covid measures that are very good. The exhibition of items from pre-history to more modern day items, there are artifacts from Stonehenge including gold, tools weapons and everyday items. Well worth a visit if nearby.Entry fees with concessions and children free

First visit. Kids under 16 are free. Adults are £7.50 which I thought was a bit expensive for the size of the place.Good exhibits of local history set on different levels.Toilets and lift/disabled access.

We had a fabulous visit here this weekend, spending nearly 2 hours in the various rooms. The museum seems to be transitioning from an old style collection, where each cabinet is just a list of artefacts with detailed descriptions to a more interactive and wider ranging display. Some areas we just skimmed through but overall it was a fascinating history of the county and how it fitted in to the wider world. There were some more modern displays that helped a wider age range understand and appreciate the local history such as the ‘smells of wiltshire’ boxes. Definitely worth the entrance fee for a pleasant and unhurried way to improve awareness of our local history and environment.

For a small museum it packs alot in. The displays provide a great account and a brilliant selection of artifacts from the prehistoric to more recent history of Wiltshire and Devizes. There are fun interactive activities for the kids too. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Spent a fun and informative hour here and would happily do so again.

For a local museum to be this good is fabulous. Of course the Stonehenge Gold is an attraction that adds status to the museum's reputation, but even without that, it offers a fascinating account of local history. For those of us who didn't learn much in history lessons at school, this museum is the ideal place to visit, as it puts into context both the local and the wider history of Britain throughout the millennia. Great displays, very thoughtfully laid out, and very helpful staff. (We were invited to join an organised tour for primary school teachers by the chap leading them round the museum, which was a fbulous piece of serendipity.)

Lovely little local museum with a fascinating collection that's particularly good on early-human life in Wiltshire. Also has periodic (paid for) exhibitions, sometimes nationally significant. Recommended.

A really interest museum packed full of history. This is our second family visit and love the place. The screens and interactive displays weren't on, sadly but there were still lots of hands-on activities for the children.

Excellent historic museum, so much to see and read about. Do allow enough time to aprieciate it all. Covers prehistoric periods, through Roman times and more recent centuries. Well worth the entrance fee. 😎👍👍👍

This little gem is a must. There is a wide range of history and objects. Great for kids; short enough to keep their attention or as adults, there is a lot of exhibits and information. This was my second visit. Certainly a rainy day backup plan or a great place to immerse yourself in the area and start with a good understanding. Give yourself over an hour or maybe two to really go through the exhibits. Easy to get to and then a lovely pub lunch at one of the popular watering holes.

Much more better Museum than the one in situ at Avebury, and no comparison with the tourist trap that Stonehenge nowadays is. Thank you very much to the lady on duty today at 11.30. Ah! 50% off for English Heritage members

Visited last Sunday to see the Eric Ravilious Downland Man exhibition. It was lovely to see his artwork in so much detail up close. For most of our visit we were the only ones in the exhibition so it felt like an exclusive event! The staff were very welcoming and friendly and gave for us the right level of interaction. Great selection of local books and exhibition related items in the shop too. Thanks to all who worked so hard to put this on.

Went to see the Exhibition.Smaller than I imagined, but good and an excellent collection of books showing his other works in the shop. Last saw it in 1979, glad the essence of the place still remains.

The Wiltshire Museum in Devizes is wonderful, full of historical and prehistoric objects from the past. The displays are so interesting and easy to navigate. The museum is a great place for the whole family to enjoy together. A place to learn about the history of the area and the town of Devizes.

The museum is re-opening Thursday 13th May 2021 after being closed for the last lockdown. It is always worth visiting and supporting.

👍👍 Nice visitor shop/bar. Unfortunately the tours weren't running as the brewery is moving. I had three little (third of a pint) glasses of different beers. All very nice, along with a chat with two very nice locals who informed us they had been 'sampling'the beer here for forty years. I would highly re...
