A great night's stay in Helmsdale Hostel doing the NC500 GCN route. Made to feel very welcome at the hostel. With good storage for bikes, great hot showers after a days ride, plus it's perfectly located to other amenities (shops/pubs/restaurants). Facilities in the hostel were also great to make a cup of tea, sit and relax in the social area. Marie was fab - thank you

I highly recommend this place! Best hostel I have ever stayed in! Marie was brillant and was very helpful and informative. The communel area was brilliant for our group to sit and chat whilst still maintaining social distancing. Superb value!! Will stay again when in the area!

When I was there the end of May 22, rooms were still only available for one party - no sharing of rooms with strangers. This suited me well as I needed some rest on the John o'Groats Trail and I enjoyed the privacy of my room and the en-suite bathroom. Marie is a fantastic host who makes you feel welcome from the moment you meet her. The kitchen in the hostel is big and features everything one could think of. I hope Mollie, Marie's dog will be around for a little longer because she's part of the package 😊

I can highly recommend Helmsdale Lodge Hostel, it is in a great location for the NC 500 is nip clean with recently refurbished en-suite rooms & Marie who runs the hostel is very friendly & helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay to anyone, I'll certainly be back.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay. Its immaculately kept & the preparations taken for Covid were simple & easy to follow. Marie is a gem & will go out her way to ensure your stay is as hassle free as possible. And Molly, you were the perfect host too 🐾❤🐾 Everyone I met were so friendly and a credit to the wee village. More than a hostel. I had a brilliant stay here after a long day on the bike and was made to feel really welcome by Marie who runs the place. Beautiful old building - formerly part of the SYHA hostel network - with comfortable beds, very clean and with a well equipped kitchen. Plenty to do in the surrounding area, ask Marie for some advice and recommendations. Thanks for a great stay!

Loved this place. Big shared space with other people staying here. All rooms are ensuite and my room was quite large. Neat, tidy, and most importantly, very clean. Marie was incredibly helpful and welcoming. I would recommend staying here in a heartbeat. Dog friendly, here, which is a massive plus in my book. Thanks for having us!

The owner is an absolute gem and the hostel was spotless, super comfy and had everything you could need. It’s also a 5 minute walk from the center of town so easy access to restaurants and the grocery store!
