This is not somewhere we could normally afford to go, but we were given this as a wedding gift, and it was so lovely to be able to have a special meal to celebrate. All the food was exceptional, and the presentation was perfection. Steven Edwards is really friendly and takes the time to talk to all the diners. The staff are really welcoming, and you don't feel uncomfortable, or out of place, like you can in some fancy restaurants. I would definitely recommend Etch for a special occasion. We would love to go back in the future.

Outstanding meal; we went for lunch and it was an absolute delight, definitely in another league in Brighton. Every course was so well thought out with brilliant touches - caviar, pickled raspberry, onion wotsits, cheese on toast, truffle shavings. The dippy egg was incredible! We had the 7 courses but could have eaten 9 in the end. Great selection of wine and non-alcoholic drinks and honestly, worth every penny. It's a slick setting with dark walls and bold art, with a new cocktail bar downstairs that I'd love to spend a few hours luxuriating in! The service was good, communication beforehand was spot on as we had to make a change and it was seamless. The attention to detail didn't quite match the level of the food on the day in my opinion but honestly, we had an excellent time. Cannot wait to return for the full dinner.

Incredible, in every sense of the word. Service was impeccable throughout, from being made to feel welcome on arrival, to being looked after in exquisite detail the entirety of our evening. The food, wow, where do I start, 9 courses of mind-blowing flavour packed dishes. Every dish is served at your table with attention to detail in its delivery, quite how they remember everything is an art on its own. I tip my hat to the chef’s and their team, for such an amazing experience for my wife’s 40th birthday, who enjoyed every minute. Thank you.

What can I say but WOW! Booked as a solo diner and requested specific seating which was taken into account. A call before my booked dinner reservation, asked me about any dietary requirements or allergies which were confirmed upon arrival - not lost in a chain of office to restaurant email communication. Was warmly greeted and the staff made me feel so at ease. Opted for the tasting menu as didn't want a heavy main course, and this was just perfect. The service was impeccable - each of the course contents thoroughly explained upon arrival. Would go as far as saying that this was the best dining experience I've ever had. I have plenty of favourites, but this one is special, and a cut above anything else the city has to offer. It is, without doubt, the best restaurant in Brighton! It always feels like such a special treat to be cooked for, and looked after, by this talented bunch. I’ve been coming here since it first opened, and just love it. It seems to get better every time. Steven and the team do such an amazing job of making you feel so welcome. It’s a perfect balance of sophisticated, yet relaxed. The food is simply another level. So much flavour in every bite and all presented in such an elegant way. The service is always fantastic. A very welcoming team, who always go above and beyond to make your night special. We are very lucky to have this talented chef in our city, and the restaurant deserves all the accolades and praise it receives. Thank you again for another amazing night. See you again soon.

We had the £25 OctoberBest menu, it was simply outstanding. Incredible flavours and amazing customer service. The cocktails were also out of this world. Couldn't recommend it more! Definitely going to return to experience the full menu soon.

I was nervous before I went as I'd never been or ate in such a high end place . Staff were amazing, I was made to feel so welcome , all the dishes were explained , then the absolutely gorgeous lovely chef brought over dessert & asked us about our experience. Absolutely amazing experience, thankyou . Highly recommend

We visited for the September set menu. The service was good but a little flat. The food was fine but nothing memorable. Everything needed a touch more seasoning and when we asked for salt we were told they don't normally provide it. We shared the additional cheese course which was delicious however the final course was a fig tart and fig leaf Ice cream that none of us wanted to finish, despite its small size. The wine recommendations were great and reasononably priced. We've eaten similarly priced taster menus, in Brighton and elsewhere, that were far better and felt more special and therefore wouldn't return.

It’s been 5 or so years since I’ve dined at Etch so the return visit was well overdue. Pleased to report that the visit was absolutely divine from start to finish. Welcome and the service were warm and lovely - pro tip, start with a drink in the cocktail bar before moving to your seat. The food was absolutely gorgeous - flavour exploding from every bite. We went for the five course which was great value for money. In terms of favorite dishes, it was very difficult to choose. The opening snacks were divine - mushroom truffle bite was a WOW flavour bomb. Similar for the tomato soup - the elevating of humble ingredients were super impressive. Great wine list too - we went for a lovely orange wine which complemented the meal nicely. Highly recommend and I will not be going 5 more years before visiting again!!

Wow!! We visited Brighton to see a friend and decided to treat her to the taster menu here - the food was absolutely remarkable and every interaction with members of the team was attentive, professional and knowledgeable. We've been lucky to have eaten at a few Michelin starred restaurants and Etch is by far the best food and overall experience we've had and would be thoroughly deserving of a star in my opinion. Having Steven at the restaurant is great - hearing him explaining his own dishes and seeing his passion up close was great! Dippy egg was my favourite course...amazing! The wine pairing worked perfectly and introduced us to some new wines to try at home :-) Thanks for a fab evening

We had an amazing first experience of Etch tonight with their 5 course taster menu. The courtesy call beforehand to check out any allergies or dislikes was much appreciated. As was the fact that there was no issue with us rearranging our booking due to covid. Steven was charming and all the staff were really attentive and knowable. Highly recommend.

Cannot recommend Etch enough! Who would have thought I would attempt goats cheese and marmite all in one night... The dippy egg was superb and the Bream even better! Thank you Steven Edwards, your restaurant and service is exceptional.

Utterly awesome. You will need a fat wallet, but the tasting menu and wine pairings are out of this world. The 'Dippy Egg' is one of the best THINGS I have ever had (confit duck yolk, smoked duck bacon, cauliflower puree and some other delicious stuff), fantastic. Marmite brioche rolls with seaweed butter, just wow!

The best meal we've had in years. Wow. We had the 9 course taster menu. It was a culinary adventure with so many smells, flavors, and textures, cooked to perfection. They were extremely cautious with our allergy issues. Steven kindly welcomed us, spoke about the recent modifications to the restaurant (which looks extra clean and modern), and introduced a few of the courses to us. They also showed us the swanky new cocktail bar downstairs - need to make use of that next time. Can't wait to come back. Thank you!

We came here on 30th October to celebrate my Husband’s Birthday and had the 9 Course Menu. My Husband’s menu had been adapted slightly according to his food preferences. The food was outstanding. Every course was explained to us, so we knew exactly what we were eating. We met the Steven and also George, The Head Chef. The entire team are outstanding and the refit is stunning. Without doubt, the best food I have ever eaten.

we went for Sunday brunch. Incredible meal. The dippy eggs stands out. It was delicious. I truly loved the dessert too. Service was warm and informative.

What an incredible experience- served by the master chef himself for most plates and every course was remarkable- plates were scraped clean by each one of us and we were still dreaming of the food the next day!! What an incredibly rewarding experience! I could run through the courses but you really can't describe in words what Stephen and his team can conjure up ....WOW!!!

It was great to be back after the re-fit and extension into next door. The fit out is spacious, contemporary and has some hidden gems! Food and service wise, the standards from Steve, George, Sam and the team are as always, exceptional. Always something new and innovative on the menus. Simple elements such as the bread are still today my favourite at any restaurant I’ve been to. We are blessed in Sussex with some superb venues and Etch is up there as a justified benchmark of the highest standards. We will of course, be back……
