Chesterfield market is great, wide choice of stalls with price range catering all budgets! Once a month an artisan market on last Sunday of month , friendly and helpful stall holders and added bonus of shops and shopping centre too 👍❤️

Lovely place to visit and live, You can stroll round at your leisure, has virtually everything you might want and things you didn’t know you wanted, From the top of the market you can see the historic crooked spire which is also available for visits. I hope you have a wonderful visit x

We missed it!! We didn't get to the town until 12:30 and only about 4 of the stalls were occupied. There was a specialist dealer there which was a pleasant surprise for my husband who bought some memorabilia.

Chesterfield is an historic market town but the market is non existent these days. I always try to shop in town but I find it hard to get what I want. Also its looking grubby. Why do we have an office block on the donut carpark with no tenants. Seems the council still don't have a clue but are happy to waste money

It's a lovely place to visit and shop at. I do struggle with the cobblestones but have friends with me to help me out. As well as the market there are lots of other shops and eating areas to explore.

Today was Thursday... flea market day! Lots and lots of stalls with an amazing array of items. You will be tempted by something! Lots of room to walk around. Lots of parking within a short walk too.

I was killing an hour waiting for am appointment, so sat outside the Market Hall in the sunshine watching the world go by! Perhaps not the bustling market it was 20, 30, 40 years ago but nowhere is! I enjoyed it!

Great variety of shops and a great Thursday market. Queens Park is a lovely park to visit. Beautiful little cafe. The Public toilets are very clean. There is a play park & train for the children to enjoy. A lovely pond to walk round & plenty of seating and grass area ideal for picnics on a warm sunny day.

It is really sad to see Chesterfield market now compared with a few years ago. It used to be a lovely market with lots of stalls. Now there are only a few. Friday used to be one of the busiest days in Chesterfield but due to many shops being closed down it isn't very busy at all.

We drove miles to get to Chesterfield Market based on visits years before when it was very good. Sadly in July 2023 it was raining and although all the stalls were out indicating it may still be a bustling market only a handful were occupied. Total waste of time for us. The toilet signage needs looking at is it seems to send you diagonally across the market, then horizontally back in the opposite direction and then back the same way - we never did find the public toilets.

Absolutely amazing 👏 Well-oiled machine and lots of things to buy that you don't actually need! 😀 Also, some lovely little stalls. Worth a visit! Well done to the council and police too 👏 👍 Long may it continue

Very disappointed with the lack of stalls on our Friday visit. The market hall made up for this a little, especially the cafe inside, where the staff were cheerful and the food and drinks great.

The market is still a varied place, with stall holders often braving not just the current harsh weather, but, it seems bizarre restrictions placed upon them by the local council and market officers. You would think such a historic market would be encouraged ss would be potential shoppers but there is a big reduction in disabled parking and now further restrictions on the market areas being used in evenings and Sundays, the market officials are often seen to be strutting about almost shouting orders at the stall holders, and jostling the public out of their way. The banning of the fabulous Chesterfield Motor Fest in the last year has been a major shooting themselves in the foot as far as many local people see things. I do wonder if palms need tickling one way or another to achieve anything in the current climate in this town.

Not what it was. The special markets, particularly the Thursday flea market, and events that they run are excellent but on ordinary market days not so good. This is very sad as chesterfield labels itself as a market town.

Only a few stalls now, nothing like it used to be, maybe the council should make it free for stall holders to attract more stall holders and get people back into the town centre.

What a find! A proper old fashioned market experience that is so rare to find these days. Bought loads of stuff at such reasonable prices. Car parking in Vicars Lane car park was most convenient . £2 for the couple or more hours we spent at the market. Introduced to it by extended family who's idea it was to visit. We'll definitely be visiting again in the near future.

Wasn't many market stalls on when we went Friday. It you're disabled but walking be mindful of the cobbled streets. Their is an excellent cheese shop close by, pop in and try some samples.

Always great to support our local community. Fresh fruits, vegetables, clothes, jewelry you name it you can just find something that tickles your fancy. You can nip into M and S if you need some retail therapy. Parking is not a problem as they is paid Parking nearby. Keep safe ya'll.

Wonderful, lovely to rummage through the flea market, really hope that they don't make it smaller, it's an absolute must when in the area

Like a ghost 👻town if council kept stall prices reasonable would have been different, when it's gone, its definitely gone sad to say.

Chesterfield market could be better but the ones we bought off are very helpful, would rather see a street market so it makes you look around more than maybe it all being in one place, still good tho

Wonderful at market today. It's a 1940 50s themed day. Live singing war time songs. Memorabilia to buy. Vehicles on display. Very good atmosphere. People dressed in 40s 50s clothing. Recommend anyone going to the next one..

Quite a few stalls selling a variety of products but a lot of empty ones too. Plenty of cafes and takeaways with good selection of usual high street stores. All in all a good place to shop. Also plenty of nearby parking.

Good old market to stroll round, before going to market chippy.

Today was a special 1940's market and it was fab. People were dressed in clothes from the 1940's and there was music and classic cars from that period. It was a really good day out.

As a lifelong chesterfield resident i have seen the market through many transformations. Sadly today it isn't as busy as it used to be though there is a wide variety of stalls and goods on offer. Its part of our history and tucked away you can still find the original water pump for feeding the cattle that were once sold there many moons ago. Its a heartwarming place really. If you are a visitor to chesterfield you ought to go and see it and walk the cobbles that have been walked for numerous years .

Great place to buy and sell, something for everyone one what ever your age or interest and bargains if you have a good eye.

Barely any market anymore other than flea market Tuesday and Thursday. People use the internet to shop these days so market has dwindled massively hardly any stalls at all and those that do stand are not very interesting or handmade items which coat much more.

  • 5/5 Pete L. 2 years ago on Google
This market has the potential to be so much better than it is now. As a boy I remember watching the 'casuals' queuing early morning for any vacant stalls. Some of them being quite unlucky not to find space to stand for the day and having either to go home or travel miles to another market to ply their wares. Today; the majority of stalls seem empty on the standard Friday, Saturday and Monday market days and only looking more like capacity on flea market days.

One of the sweetest little markets ever. Such good vibes I got. 😊🤩
