We were here for a romantic gateway at the end of September and had a wonderful time during our 2 nights’ stay. The breakfast was wonderful (& also award winning!), with a variety of selection of pastries, fruits and beverages. The room was cosy and well stocked with amenities such as luxury teas and coffees, bathrobe etc. Staffs were all friendly and accommodating and the lounge was a nice touch as well, and the hotel is quiet at night. The daily slice of cake is a nice touch as well. Well done to the Hideaway team!

Myself and my husband have been coming to this lovely place a few times now. It's just the most amazing place, Richard and staff are so kind and make sure you have just the best stay. Rooms are lovely and so is breakfast! Added bonus is that you also get freshly baked cake every day! They have a lovely outdoor seating area with a couple of tables and chairs, really nice to sit out there with a drink if the weather is nice. The Hideaway is in a really nice quiet location as well, a 7 minute stroll into Windermere where there is a co op and a few places to eat. Then a further 15 minutes or so walk into Bowness where there are loads of places to eat and drink as well as shops.

Absolutely lovely place to stay. Quite probably the nicest b&b I've stayed in. From start to finish it was superb. Welcoming, relaxing and really friendly. Room was immaculate, breakfast amazing and very, very quiet. Overall I really cannot imagine anywhere being better for you to enjoy time in Windermere and the surrounding lakes. We also got a free room upgrade which was such a nice surprise. Free cake too... everyone here is so nice. Definitely recommend. We'll be back. Anna and Darren 👍👍

10+/10. Amazing stay, I couldn't fault this place even if I tried! I have just returned home from a 2 night stay here. From the moment me & my partner arrived, we were greeted with a smile and very friendly staff. Everything we needed to know about our stay was explained. Complimentary cake on each day of your stay which tasted lovely! The breakfast was hand on heart, the best full English I have ever had. I liked how toast was brought out with coffee, as well as croissants and orange loaf offered. Plenty of cereal, yoghurts, fruit offered to. Room was spotless, and I enjoyed the bath on both nights, it was so deep! (Bring some bubble bath with you if you plan on using it). The 'ultimate room' does what it says, the bed was so comfortable. Some shop/cafe/restaurants only a 5 minute walk away. Bowness on Windermere only 25-30 minute walk. Thank you very much for our stay, will definitely recommend you to family and friends.

A gem of a find. Well away from the hustle and bustle of Windermere centre but only a 5 minute walk away. Comfortable rooms and very friendly staff especially reception and the hardworking breakfast staff who could not do enough for you. A short but alas excellent stay and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a stay in the lakes as a central location for both North and South Lakes. Book with confidence....ps: the breakfast was fantastic and probably do you the whole day, well maybe apart from a naughty ice-cream from Bowness 😀

We had a fabulous stay here for the weekend, very friendly staff. The breakfast is brilliant and all you could ever want! Rooms were clean and very well kitted out. I highly recommend The Hideaway for a brilliant stay.

We stayed 3 nights recently and we couldn't fault anything. The breakfast was superb, matched only by the friendly and efficient service. The daily homemade cake each morning (but not available on your last day 😔) was great - and very nice too! We stayed in room 12, a duplex suite, with a lovely and very large bath/shower room on lower level via a clever, but quite steep, spiral staircase. We loved the whole room, but up/down the stairs for the loo eventually wore off 😄. That's micro analysis from our perspective as we really loved The Hideaway. Thanks for looking after us. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay... staff very friendly. Room very good and breakfast tasty... Only comment... maybe a full black pudding would be good, never had a full english brekkie with only a half black pudding on the plate..small issue in the grand scheme tho

What a little gem this place is, we stayed here 2 weeks ago and will definitively be back, Richard and staff couldn't have done enough for you. Breakfast was awesome. And the homemade cake went down extremely well

We had the best stay! From the moment we arrived, Richard was so welcoming and helpful. We felt like family entering a home when we arrived, we had a beautiful room that was quiet, and were greeted at breakfast with a huge smile and amazing, homemade food. We also had questions about the town, outside of the very helpful guide we found in the room, and Richard was more than happy to provide recommendations. We felt extremely comfortable the whole time - from the welcoming, the cleanliness, and the overall accommodation. We would recommend this location to all family and friends, and would absolutely return again when we have the opportunity!

Super impressed! The service was exceptional! When we arrived we were met by friendly and cheerful staff who were so down to earth and genuinely seemed happy to greet us and ask about our journey. The room was classic and elegant, the breakfast service and food is amazing and each day we were offered a fresh slice of homemade cake and given a choice of flavour every morning, which was just delightful. The hideaway really go that extra mile for their guests. Thankyou from Mr and Mrs Casson x

We stayed here three nights in the loft bedroom. Great room, TV, kettle, dresser, nice shower room. Room was made up daily. Breakfast was amazing and you get quite a lot of food. Coffee and tea was complimentary. To note, barista drinks were charged, but we never felt we needed these. Free cake each day was a massive plus. Would recommend!

We recently stayed at this wonderful B&B and we were both very impressed. Our room was very clean and looked quite modern. The service was top class and and it was always nice to see a friendly face every morning! The breakfasts were exceptional and very filling. Most importantly the cake was delicious! It was always nice to have some lovely cake to take away with us while on our walks. They also gave us some ideas on where to walk as we were new to the area. Overall, would highly recommend if you’re staying in Windermere.

We were greeted with a warm welcome from Richard. The room was very lovely, clean and cozy. Breakfast was amazing and the choice of afternoon cake a added bonus. Definitely one of the best B&B's we have stayed in.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The host, Richard, goes out of his way to guarantee the most pleasant experience. The room in which we stayed was quite big, incredibly clean and with many amenities in addition to a huge bathroom with a shower and a bath. The breakfast is outstanding with many options to try as well as a delicious homemade cake. Addititionally, the house sits in a quite area 5 minutes away from the busy part in Windermere. There's no other place I'd rather stay for our next visit to the Lake District!

Great hotel, great location and great cake! A fantastic hotel ideally located minutes from Windermere town centre. We stayed in room 1, which has a separate entrance and private patio. The staff were all lovely and breakfast was amazing. Best of all is the complimentary cake, in particular the carrot cake. Would highly recommend.

Really lovely, stayed here for one night and it was great. We arrived and was greeted by Richard who was absolutely lovely, once checked in he handed us some complimentary carrot cake. I think I read that there is a new cake per day to try which is a nice touch! The car park was great and had plenty of spaces in regards to the amount of rooms. Once we reached the room everything was clean and tidy with nothing to complain about. They clearly pride themselves on standards. On site there is a lounge room downstairs which any guests can use and it’s massive and looks like a great room to chill out in. We didn’t use it this time but it is good to know for the future if we were to visit with friends. For breakfast they asked us what time we would like to come down in 15 minute intervals (not meaning eat in 15 minutes). For example we chose 8:45 so they were expecting that we’d be coming down to eat at that time. We were served by I think his name was John who was lovely. We picked items from the cold breakfast menu and then had a hot breakfast and toast aswell. The portion sizes were a great size I just couldn’t finish all mine! I would also add I’m vegetarian and they had plenty of options to choose from!

We spent 6 wonderful nights at The Hideaway in August. From start to finish, we had the warmest hospitality from everyone on the team. We used two rooms during our stay and both were tastefully furnished, beautifully clean and well-equipped. A lot of thought has gone into everything here. We were horrendously delayed in traffic on our journey up to the The Lakes and arrived an hour late for check-in, but they had a Plan B and we were settled into our room within minutes of arriving. The hotel offers fresh home-made cakes daily and ours were waiting for us in the room as an extra welcome. Lovely! Breakfast is excellent, with a great selection and the hot elements were beautifully cooked. Lovely views of the pretty garden from the breakfast room! Nothing was too much trouble for Richard and team, and thank you to John on Reception for being so friendly, understanding and helpful when we realised we were going to arrive late. We couldn’t fault this lovely boutique hotel and have been recommending it already! We will definitely be back. Thank you!

The Hideaway at Windermere is a wonderful place for a peaceful break in The Lakes, while offering easy access to places of interest. It is competitively priced and offers a 5* service. Immaculately presented and spotlessly clean, the rooms are incredibly comfortable. All the staff are welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was the best we have had in any establishment and the homemade cakes were a delicious treat. Cannot recommend highly enough and hope to return for another break in the future. They truely represent the very best of what private, local businesses have to offer.
