This is a fabulous market with plenty of bargains. It is truly rural England at its best, we love coming here.

Good selection of livestock and other items/tools. Interesting place for a quick visit even if you are not buying. Can't comment on the auction itself as we didn't buy this time.

With bars, restaurants and a barbers is a great place to spend time while at the market. The round corner micro brewery is especially special.

Go to the car boots very regularly. It's pretty big car boot but I always find there are far too many traders there now who are always there and always sell the same stock. For me a car boot is about variety and people wanting rid of old stuff.

Came for Chocfest 2019. Was a really good event with great parking. Good set up with plenty of stalls. Lots of food and drink choices. Took my daughter and we had a great time looking around and sampling different chocolate 🍫 a great day!

Great market full of weird and wonderful people (and products!). It’s been the making of firms like Dunelm, I believe. Good to see a “real” livestock market and general market - from food to shirts and socks - in the middle of town. And busy too. Long May it continue.

Loved it! Food was delicious and stalls were amazing. Such a variety, you can't go wrong. Fair prices too.

Lovely day at the pie festival. Great food and drink, pie making classes for children and adults. Fab speakers. Really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks

Love visiting the food festivals here. Bonus is free parking. Only one issue, wifi is not good so paying with card is hit and miss and there's no longer a cash machine on site...

Visited the food festival on Saturday and was very impressed with the amount of stalls. Only down side was the non-alcoholic stall was tucked away at the end and we almost missed it, just lucky we looked round the side of the last tent. This stall should have been inside with the other stalls.

We always enjoy our visit to Melton Mowbray there’s so much more to this little town than the Markets. Great shopping, restaurants, parks and gardens with easy and plentiful parking options

Melton mowbray farmers market is good fun of you are looking for a bargain, we have been going to this market for a very long time and always came away with some great stuff used and brand new, we visited this week after around 2 and half years due to covid it can get quite busy so Restriictions were in place, we always used to have a laugh with 1 or 2 of the auctioneers on our tuesday sale days, bit since returning this week there had been a lot of changes there and one we were upset about and that's is the sundries auction where you can preview the items on sale before the auction started and then stand around and bid for the Lots you wanted to buy that was always a real laugh bit there are no sundries auction anymore,BRING BACK THE SUNDRIES AUCTION !! There is plenty of parking spaces but the price has risen to £3.50 on entry, most of the stalls are wheelchair and pushchair friendly, there are also food and drink stalls there,go and have a look around, grab a bite to eat and search for some bargains 😁

The Artisan Cheese Fair was great and I look forward to going again when it's on next time!

We went to the cheese festival in the cattle market, they hold it each year and we have gone to the last five. There are over 300 cheeses 🧀 and you can taste them before you buy. This year seemed to have lots of blue cheese which unfortunately we don't like but hey lots of people do. They also have stalls selling pies of many kinds plus alcohol too. It gets quite busy. It's only £5 each (kids free). The best cheese was a red Leicester cheese made by the Leicester cheese company called Sparkenhoe 😋, they aren't a big cheese company but the taste is amazing. There are plenty of food stalls, entertainment plus talks on cheeses. Highly recommended 👌

Brilliant day out. Everything you need under one roof. Food, clothes, antique stalls alongside DIY. Places to eat and a very friendly farming community with live cattle/sheep auctions.

We went here bank holiday weekend for the cheese fair and has always was a decent day out, lots of stalls with cheese, pies, bread, cakes, beers and wines plus lots of eating places. The only slight let down for me was there seemed to be a lot more Stilton and blue cheese stalls rather than a variety of cheeses this year, but hey ho a lot of people like that.

Interesting day out and definitely worth it! The vintage Market was well priced with some stellar finds (from old newspapers, go jewelry, to local art!) and there was a seller there selling the best sausage cob I may have ever had! Looking at the livestock and hearing prices was great to understand where our food comes from and to better understand agriculture too!

Went to the Cheese Festival for the first time. It was pleasant, it's not a huge event but enough there to keep me occupied for a morning. The food stalls were a little underwhelming and very expensive, but I suppose everything is more expensive these days. I was also hoping there would be more seating as there seemed to be enough space for more tables. Unfortunately lunch was ruined by a local Evangelical Christian singing group who were the "entertainment". Their PA system was bad quality and I resent having religion shoved down my throat when I'm trying to have day out. I hope the festival organisers take heed and keep the festival free of them in future, otherwise I may not return.

Firstly make sure you have change for the ticket machine in the top car park, you can't pay by card and paying by downloading the app is a pain , mobile signal was not the best there so the app took a while to download. Otherwise the market is great and has something for everyone , except vegans.

Went for the food and drink festival east Midlands. Great turn out great entertainment, stalls were really varied. Crowds were insane, the place was absolutely packed. Feel like it might have been better in a massive field rather than the buildings it was in.

We absolutely love the Melton Mowbray Market, it always presents a great opportunity to get some exclusive goodies. We went today to buy some bits and bobs for Christmas. We are very much looking forward to indulging in them after sampling them.

We went to the first day of the 2-day Cheese Fest and it didn't disappoint. So many quality artisan cheeses available to taste and buy from around the UK and Eire as well as a variety of other drink and food stalls. Plus plenty of stalls to buy lunch if you have room after trying so many cheeses 😉. Next year's dates are already in my diary!

Apparently a shadow of its former self but as a newcomer to Melton it seems quite substantial on a Tuesday and nice to have a wander around. I do have a bit of a gripe about markets in general and Melton is no different; veg can actually be quite expensive compared with supermarkets and not always as fresh/longlasting as you might expect.

I love the atmosphere of a whole year around carboot. Great coffee, and you can always grab a bargain!

I've always loved this place. On a market day, and the weather is good, then this place is alive. Buzzing with colourful characters and lots of traders.

  • 1/5 Donald G. 4 months ago on Google
Sadly I can't say what the market is like, or any off the shops. We were going to do a bit of Christmas shopping before heading to the supermarket, but the council has decided to make it difficult to use the carparks. We tried paying cash, then the app, neither worked. So instead of risking a fine we went elsewhere. Shopkeepers your council is costing you.

Visited chocofest which was more like a normal food festival (but that's not a compalint). Most of the stools had incredible produce / food to buy and eat on site. It's a shame there is a £5 fee for adults. Thoroughly enjoyed by adults and children.

A step back in time. With so many livestock markets closing now it's a bonus living so close. Thoroughly enjoyed this year's turkey auction. Walked away with a delightful goose as well as some super fresh veg.

You have to go on a Tuesday (market day) where the city centre has many stalls in the streets such as fruit and veg , clothing, traditional Melton mowbray pork pies and stilton cheese. There is also an indoor market where you will find many more stalls selling antiques, more like bric a brac car boot sort of things with a butchers van offering great deals on a large selection of meats a lovely day out be prepared to stay longer than you planned as you will love this market town with so many friendly people I love it

We went for the Food Festival and there was rows and rows of stalls split between 4 sheds or marquees. There was even sections for children to do some cooking we made apple pies and cookie dough cookies. Looking forward to choc fest and the vintage Christmas.
