What a fabulous place .The glass canopy is superb and They have done an amazing job getting it back to its Victorian splendour. Why have I not been here before?! My friends wanted to come to the quarterly book fair so came along with them and were greeted by soooo many stalls selling everything. Very well run with some of the friendliest stallholders I've ever met. Could have spent a fortune 😄 only downside is the parking but it is at the metro station so should have probably taken the hint!

I have always liked this market, it has something for everyone. It’s been nice watching it grow over the years. There are so many stalls, selling everything from art, steampunk lamps, scented wax melts, books, plants, bric a brac, jewellery etc. there also numerous stalls for food and drinks to eat there (like tikka wraps/burgers) but also treats to take home like fudge / cupcakes etc. I have family nearby so park at their home but parking can be a problem otherwise. You many end up parking on the sea front and walking. The added bonus is if you get the metro…it’s in the station itself. The station is Victorian and very pretty. Two minute walk to shops, restaurants and bars and maybe 10/15 mins to the sea front. Would recommend if you fancy a few hours out at the weekend.

Plenty to choose from. Been going since I was very young and the new addition of the stalls along the side of the station is lovely. Especially the little sweet shop “sweet reminisce”. Such lovely people in there

We stumbled across this market by accident, having planned to go to Whitley Bay, not Tynemouth. It was a very pleasant find. Set in the beautiful Tynemouth station, there was a great diversity of produce ranging from metal sculptures to wooden bird feeders. There were also several street food sellers. There was a great atmosphere & a plethora of dogs happily walking around with their owners.

These markets are cool and a few stalls had some really unique items (fire extinguisher lamps etc.) A lot of the same items being sold by multiple stalls. A few stalls had some good ideas but the quality just wasn't there (printed t-shirts & mugs) There was a band the day we went and it was so loud! If you do head in, be sure to check out the candy shop on the far side of the markets in The Sidings (intendent shops). Its a permanent fixture & not part of the stalls. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday morning though not at all what we expected it would be.

Sits within the train station. A lot of stalls, selling a wide variety of items. Quite crowded when I went there. The one-way system was helpful, but might need to put stricter social distancing measures, or making masks compulsory.

Excellent use of a lovely victorian train station 🚉. It's an amazing space many stands and an enormous amount of stalls. Everything from brick a brack to crafts and arts, antiques, and military odds and sods. And many street food stalls. Worth a visit.

Surprisingly large market considering it's in a metro station, Tynemouth is lovely so a doddle round the market along with Eddie's bay, the high street and the priory makes for a great day out.

Located in the train station, every Saturday and Sunday, stalls including vintage, chabby chic, antiques, retro fancy goods etc. Plenty of food sellers too, with a wide range of global dishes on offer, a really good atmosphere and geordie hospitality, definitely worth a visit when in Tynemouth, parking available but gets busy here

Fantastic market indoor/outdoor market , great retailers , the station in general doesn't have a lift to get to the other side up the stairs and over the top. If a wheelchair or pram that can't be dismantled it's up and around to get to other entrance

Great artisanal market at Tynemouth station. I understand this market is on most weekends, full of dozens of foodie stalls and arts and crafts. Only half an hour on the Metro from Newcastle central station, costing around £4 each way (2023). The Tynemouth station is almost worth a visit in itself, although needing some TLC it's a fantastic piece of railway heritage architecture.

Visiting regularly with my family we always have an excellent time here, the food selection is brilliant and the variety assures there's something for all pallets. I enjoy seeing local artists and the work they have to offer, aswell as several small businesses and other vendors. Very much so a staple in North-east culture, if you are visiting Newcastle It is a must visit.

This is the biggest market in the Northeast for sure! you can spend like an hour here with no problems. There are so many stallholders who are very nice and sweet and friendly, and they sell books, CDs clothing, plates, plants, food; jewelry, etc. It’s just such a nice place to visit, especially when it’s weekends or holidays, there would be a load of people here. Also just so convenient to get there that you can take a metro and once you get off you are entering the market. It just has the perfect location.

This market has something for everyone! A proper market with bargains to be found and quirky, unique bits and pieces. Lots of lovely food options. It's pretty cool that the station is still in use with the train running through and market stalls both sides of the tracks. It's under cover too, so if it's raining, you won't get wet!

Tynemouth Market is an absolute gem! The vibrant atmosphere, diverse array of stalls, and friendly vendors make it a delightful experience. From unique crafts to delicious street food, there's something for everyone. The seaside location adds to the charm, creating a perfect weekend destination. Tynemouth Market is a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of local culture and a fantastic shopping experience.

I visit Tynemouth Market every fortnight on a Sunday - most of the sellers are incredibly friendly and have something unique to offer - there is a good selection of food and normally a few stalls with vegan goods which is great for me as I don't go hungry! A great way to have a lazy morning and treat yourself to something special after you have hopped off the Metro! You can always wander into Tynemouth and go to the beach for some fresh air and stretch your legs too.

    Fantastic Market.

  • 4/5 Astra D. 3 years ago on Google
Some nice stalls, however, this market is becoming more of a foodie place rather than bric-a-brac, antiques etc. If you want fast food, breads, sweet treats, pies etc, then it is ideal. Some great jewellery stalls. Good covid measures in place by way of a one way system. Felt safe and not too overcrowded.

Absolutely my favourite place to go on a weekend get away. We live 2 hours away but fell in love with Tynemouth and it's market. I have also sold my toys here but enjoy coming to buy. I have purchased great vintage collectable toys. Love the whole experience. Katie and James Katie's Toy Universe 🌎🌎

Great market full of loads of different stalls from antiques and brick a brack to excellent hand made jewellery, also local art and photography and anything else you can think of. Saturday and Sunday only 9am till 3-4pm give it a try

Hadn't been for a while, but even with them trying to control the amount of people going in and out was really no point at all. Had arrows to tell you which way but it didn't actually work as people were still in my back pocket, to be honest, no different to before the pandemic.

  • 4/5 Phil R. 4 years ago on Google
Great market! Plenty of eating choices, loads of stalls and all under cover too. Parking can be a problem unless you are prepared to walk. But if you’ve parked in Tynemouth somewhere it’s well worth the walk to sample the market. If your making a special trip to the market consider parking at an alternative Metro station and going in on the metro since you are dropped of right in the middle of the market.

Location is good. Its a glorified boot market if u like that sort of thing. Food stalls are nice too.

  • 3/5 Mark W. 3 years ago on Google
If you like to browse then yeah good items to look at not really anything that grabbed me to buy

  • 5/5 Chris H. 3 years ago on Google
Sorely missed but back in business! Sensible measures in place for social distancing that still keep browsing fun. Plus a dedicated space to one side for the food vans, which is a great call. Get down there and start impulse buying.

Hadn't heard of this before and dropped in on the off-chance. An Aladdin's cave with something for everyone in the dramatic setting of the station canopy.

Tynemouth Indoor Market,is situated at Tynemouth Metro Station on Saturday's and Sunday's with the exception of certain circumstances such as the current lockdown. The Market is made up of numerous Stalls selling a multitude of variety of goods including food and drinks in all it's various forms. The place is usually packed out with customers including passengers using the metro and although i expect masks should be worn the times i was there it was at best problematic
