We had our house damp proofed nearly four years ago with this company and we were impressed with the work and the staff. Unfortunately our problems started last month when we tried to get them back to certify that the house was still fine. We were selling the property and the surveyor for the buyer said the ground floor was damp. We knew this wasn't the case but we were asked to have it checked. As we had a 10 year guarantee we did not see this as a problem. However Allerton Damp chose not to respond to us. Our solicitor sent a scanned copy of the guarantee and we also went to the premises. BE WARNED - they are not on Savile Rd as advertised. Their premises may be but their office is not. Apparently they have moved to somewhere in Knottingley. We are still waiting for them to phone back as promised but as yet no joy. Clearly this company do not like being questioned about their work and they certainly don't want to honour their guarantees. Extremely dissapointing considering the fact that we were not actually questioning their work- the surveyor was. In the end the buyer still bought but with a view of sorting it out himself - good luck with that one!!!

The people that I dealt with to book the survey and pay for the work were very helpful. I can't fault the sales team. The workmen came on time, and on the first day covered up some of the surfaces etc, however they also broke a window lock and a plug socket. The 2nd and 3rd day they didn't bother with coverings. The language used by the workmen was absolutely disgusting. They struggled to refit the radiator, and there was a leak all over the dining room floor. I heard the workman ring Scott to ask for a plumber to come out but Scott refused. That evening the hot water and heating wouldn't work. I called a plumber out to fix the boiler, only to be told there wasn't enough water in the system because of the leak. It was very easy to top up, but I was cheesed off that this wasn't mentioned to me by Allerton. When moving the fridge BACK (I didn't ask them to do this) they had lost a foot off the fridge. Nobody mentioned this to me at all, and I only realised when I had to stop the fridge falling onto my 4 year old son. My husband called and spoke to our project manager Scott Cornish, who shrugged off all responsibility, as well as being rude and arrogant. Apparently the window lock was already broken (we have never been able to open that window as we don't have a key!), the plug socket was already like it (it's the one the TV plugs into, so I think we would have noticed that!), and they shouldn't have had to move the fridge in the first place (we never asked them to move the fridge back, they did that on their own accord). Rung again to speak to somebody else, Wesley. Not as rude as Scott, but also didn't care. Scott was supposed to ring back but didn't. Work went on a day longer than it was supposed to. On the last day the workmen that came were absolutely lovely. Aftercare has been non existent. I wanted to use Allerton because I wrongly thought that they would do a first class job. Allerton have since sent an email asking me to leave a review on Google, which is only clarification that they didn't take our complaints seriously. They aren't the cheapest of companies to use, but you still get a cowboy finish. ***edit*** Due to the reply below I have knocked another star off. Your reply is an insult to my intelligence. You are lying about the socket and about not knowing about the leak. Your workman was trying to stop the leak with his own jumper! The window had never been opened, as we have never had a key. One of your men manged to open the window on the first day, and now the lock is broken! Regarding the fridge, I wouldn't of left it balancing without a foot, ready to fall on the next person that opened it! As for the damp proofing, I can't really comment. Time will tell. I hope we don't have a problem with it, as after looking at the other reviews it doesn't look like you would do anything about that either.

Lots of good reviews on here, guess I was unlucky. My advice is make sure you UNDERSTAND ALL their T&Cs before you sign.

We had condensation/water penetration related problems on an outer wall and general condensation problems. Allerton Damp Proofing surveyed various issues and came up with a plan to help solve the problems we were having. During the work that was being done, Allerton Damp Proofing's team found other problems and quickly within the original time frame had these sorted. After they had finished, they removed a floor covering they had used to protect our new flooring and even mopped up anything that had gone past the floor covering. Their office communicated promptly with us at various stages before they had commenced the work that had to be done. Overall they were very professional in their work and we are happy with the work carried.

Allerton have just completed damp proofing and woodworm treatment for us in our home as part of our renovation work. I cannot rate them highly enough, from my wife's first contact with them on the phone they were very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Stuart came out to conduct the survey, arriving on time as arranged, he was extremely thorough checking everywhere he could access which included spending ages in our cramped and awkward loft. This was such a contrast to a large national company's survey which was in comparison cursory. The report confirmed the very detailed information Stuart gave on the day and was sensible and proportionate again a million miles away from the national company's recommendation. On the day the work was scheduled to start the lads turned up on time and ready to go. Shane and Joby were again very polite, very knowledgeable and very tidy while working. Shane is a true asset to the company, he went out of his way to explain how the treatment worked, what type of plasterboard to make good with, how to attach it so as not to damage the membrane and even got me the details of the fixings required for installing a door in an opening they had treated. Will definitely recommend them to any family or friends who may need them, thank you.

I've just tried to get a quote for woodworm treatment, and because I mentioned that I have just sold the house today, the person on the phone has said that they will not quote for me to have the job done. She said that the new owners will have to ring them, and ask them to quote. I told her that I may nit be moving, as my previous sale fell through, so it needs doing in any case. She just kept repeating what she had already said. Very confused as to why they won't do a job for me, as the sale will probably take at least 12 weeks?

Had a damp course with damp resistant plaster done for all the house the survey was not complete as they did not inject all of the house failed to do the kitchen which is now the downstairs toilet. But put the damp resistant plaster in place in be kitchen. Seems quite odd. Now paint if peeling off the walls in the kitchen with them failing to inject the damp course. Having this done by someone else. Very expensive for a partial job done with having to have parts of it re done. Partially plaster under the stairs. Damage the upvc surround on the door. Offered me £20 which would not cover call out for a work man or the sash on the door. When I mentioned this to the director of the company very rude to me. Resulted of obvious conflict. Also has put a response on google reviews to state that problems are not connected with the damp course lack of ventilation and needing extractor fans. Yes they put extractor fans in which my surveyor told them to put in. I had to tell them 3 times their electrician for got to do this and had to keep asking when they were going back money was held back until fans were put in. So any discrepancies with poor quality extractor fans will be Allerton remedial works.

Allerton Damp Proofing repaired my damp proof membrane in two rooms. The estimation and approval process was prompt and extremely quick. Workmen arrived on time and were very Customer focussed. The team were very clean and tidy in their work. The re-plastering provided an excellent finish to the walls. The work was completed to time and budget. We now have to wait a number of months to see if the repair has been effective.

From my 1st contact by phone Allerton have been extremely helpfull, the site surveyor was very noligealble, curtious, and on time. The survey arrived within days, with all the necessry paperwork, to explain what the problem was and what it would entail to do the work. The workmen where very helpfull, they cleaned up after them. I would recommentd Allerton this is why i give them 5 stars.

Had Allerton Damp Proofing in to treat rising damp on both sides of a chimney breast. Workmen arrived on time, covered and protected all flooring in and around the work area. They took time and care when plastering walls and replacing the skirtingboards. The work is messy and generates so much dust, but the team cleaned up after themselves - I was amazed at how clean they had left the living room and carpet.

I employed Allerton Damp Proofing to upgrade and improve ventilation and install a PIV unit in my loft. The work was carried out cleanly and efficiently by their team. They weren’t the cheapest company by far but hopefully with improved airflow throughout the house it will prove to be money well spent.

Staff in the office are friendly and responsive but had some trouble with communications of on site team it seems. Some trash was left including bags of sand. Overall work seems to be of good quality. Quite expensive

The workman was very efficient and friendly, there was hardly any dust from the installation of the PIV and I am so pleased as the unit has made such a difference, within days, so thank you, and would recommend to anyone with condensation problems.

Proper assessment of work to be undertaken. Clear statement of intended works. Came on date and time arranged. Effective control of dust and dirt generated. I did like the teaching being given to the accompanying apprentice. It will take time to see if the damp problem has been resolved but early indications are positive.

We found rising damp in our home an expert come out told us what needed doing and also how to save on the cost by doing some of the work ourselves which wasn't to difficult the guys who came out to do the damp course were professional friendly and very quick and cleaned tidied up when finished would highly recommend this company.

Asked them to assess whether or not we had dry rot after we uncovered some issues following a shower leak. They assessed that it was wet rot and no further work was required. Honest, professional outfit - would recommend.

Great service from start to finish, carried out some damp proofing work and also replaced our living room and entrance hall floors. Workmen were great, informed us what they would be doing on which day and were extremely courteous and tidy during the works, would have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody.

We had a damp survey of our cellar done by Allerton and agreed to the replacement of a water damaged ceiling joist and repairs to the lower wall where the water was getting in. All the job details and costs were clear and the work was done on time, despite the need for an urgent asbestos analysis and in the eye of storm Dennis. The builders were lovely: polite, hard-working and respectful of our home. They worked hard to complete before the storm was due. The work was done well, neatly and all debris cleared. There have been storms and heavy rain ever since and not a drop in our cellar which is, now, drying well. I thoroughly recommend this firm.

Allerton did a really excellent job from start to finish. I needed my whole ground floor damp proofing with some additional building work and re-plastering, which at times was fiddly and complex. Throughout every stage of the process, from initial quoting through to completion the whole team were polite, punctual and extremely responsive. I would definitely recommend using them to anyone.

They are an exteremely professional company who did their work within the time scale quoted & I was kept informed at all times and they promptly answered any questions I had. Rang this company 5 times to try and get a quote - told someone would phone me back - not once did i receive the call back. on the 5th and final time was told "cant expect us to return everyone's calls we are busy" - great customer service - although looking at the reviews doesn't look great and probably thankful they didn't come back to me. Looks like all bad reviews are answered with - "we expect this is a competitor or ex-employee" - HILARIOUS!

Pleased with the work we had done by Allerton Damp Proofing. The workmen were all very friendly and cleaned up as much as they could. The job was started on time there was a short delay with the second part of the job but we were kept informed. We had a couple of minor problems but these were dealt with immediately. We are satisfied with the work carried out and would recommend.

I contacted the company a few weeks ago and forwarded them the info they requested, not to hear anything back. I have contacted them today forwarded the same info as requested to be told at present they don't have the capacity for the survey to be carried out and that they would refer me to a alternative contractor.........then in the next sentence told me to Google it! Terrible service!

Very impressed with Allerton. We had problems with rising damp. They inspected the damp on the day we first contacted them. We were given a price for the work that day and they came and did the damp proof work 2 weeks later. The workman were very professional and the work is of a high standard.

The job was to repair damp proof course, remove damaged and mouldy plasterwork and repair damaged areas. The team arrived on time even in the recent snow conditions and worked professionally and cleaned up after themselves and clearly explained to me all the work they had carried out.
