Drove almost an hour to visit this store after reading the reviews and was honestly disgusted. Very small and cramped store which is understandable, however it looked very unkempt with a strange odour. After looking at all the tanks setup I was disgusted and promptly left. I’ve never seen so many dead fish in an aquatic store before - I understand that they may not have had time but when all employees were sat around talking I think that’s an ideal time to remove these - almost every section I looked in there was a few dead fish or even the remnants of one that’s been eaten (obviously been left in there long enough). Tank maintenance is terrible, a few looked clean but nothing like it shows online. A quick clean never hurts. Bettas kept in absolutely tiny, algae infested tanks and look insanely depressing. More of a horrible sight to see than a disappointment, it’s not hard to put a bit of effort in for the sake of these living things!! Absolutely will never go back. I really hope the owners take better care of their fish.

Absolutely awful. Seem like they don't have a care in the world for the fish or any form of knowledge about fish or there accommodation for the size of them. when i asked a price about an ancistrus they said to me the ancistrus have all sold and only bristle noses are left. they actually had no idea they are the same fish when i said they are the same they argued with me and told me that an ancistrus is completely different to a bristle nose. Quite shocked as any novice could even point out they are the same. The tanks are disgusting there are fish in tanks that are two small for 5 guppies let alone a fish that is around 13 inches in size where it couldn't even turn around it just swam forward and then swam back I mean the tank was around a foot and a half long by about a foot high and the fish was atleast 13 inches in size also so many tanks had dead fish in. Some tanks with the gold fish in some of the gold fish had severe tail nips due to the amount of them in there and them being cramped. The live plants were dieing it was just an awful experience the place just looks like a junk yard i remember years ago this used to be such a lovely place now I would consider it lower in regards to fish care and fish hygiene and knowledge than pets at home. Also what is with the second hand baby toys and the home made jewellery seems like it's a jack of all trades now but my advice stay clear and I have also reported this shop due to the fish conditions and hygiene and the fish care.

Being in the marine hobby for many years I like to travel around the South to different stores, unfortunately the video on the website is very misleading. The store is cramped and cluttered, fixtures are dirty and the fabric of the building is in disrepair. Empty drained marine tanks in the first section on the left, poor choice of marine fish / inverts. I didn't have much interaction with the colleagues however trust in the brand was very poor due to all the above. I wouldn't have confidence buying fish from this store. Its a shame with the size of the property and location this could be a great store. If this store doesn't change with the time / customer demand it will not have a long future. The video really made me cringe when you said "fish come first customers come second" looking at the state of the tanks your words make me really concerned. First time visit, no affiliation to the store or colleagues. Not in any competitive business to the store. All views are my own.

Saturday 12th September 2020 - Having recently bought a tropical fish tank which I am in the process of setting up, I visited to get an idea about what fish I may wish to purchase once it's ready. Having been browsing for less than 5 minutes I was promptly and rudely asked to leave the store if I wasn't going to be buying anything. Greedy owner just after your money, not interested in customer service. Also noted a large number of dead fish in the tanks. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Not a nice welcoming and not what I've aspected! Grumpy old gentleman got us out of the store super fast! Wouldn't visit again! The video in the website it's just a false faced!

Very old fashioned type aquatic shop, that is too expensive for their fish they sell. The staff are not that helpful at all the older guy puts me off even wanting to ask advice. Prefer to shop else where really if being completely honest.

Great place. Privately owned, which is a breath of fresh air away from the big companies. They're friendly, know their stuff and have a great ethic where animal care is concerned.

i had a review of what i think about this shop but somehow they could manage to wipe my review out. if you are visiting at the time of covid , you need to know exactly what fish you want and you will be told off if you move a couple of meters in an empty shop. no common sense . there were no other customer in the shop. so i could not look at tank 's equipments or other fish . maybe good if you exactly know you want to buy a guppy and if you don't mind if owners are not polite.

When asking about their big selection of live plants, I was pointed to the dusty storage room of rainbow coloured fake rubber plants in the back and told that “it would be much easier” if I bought those. The lady who works here is lovely, it’s a shame that the old guy that works there can’t process in his head that good customer service is integral for a small business. Like all these other reviews say, fish are kept awfully. Go to pets at home instead

Visited recently, several fish were either dead, sick or injured and in dirty and over crowded tanks. They certainly won’t be getting our business. It seemed overpriced as well compared to other local places that seem to take much better care of their stock.

I have recently been going to Lynwood for the set up of my new EVO 52L marine tank. Maria has been extremely helpful in the setting of my new tank on numerous occasions including when I purchased the salt water, live rocks and helping with formations and then live sand (of which they have various sizes and smaller bags for small tanks) and test kits. After cycling over a number of weeks I was then provided with advice on what fish to stock my EVO with of which they had a very good variety of fish. I purchased a yellow clown goby, blue cheek goby (sand sifting) and a bangai cardinal all doing well in the 52 litre tank and of high quality. Also got good advice on what food they prefer and the feeding cycles. The shop has on-site parking, just off the A3 so well placed and is very large and has pretty much anything you need. I looked at just the marine side but the Tropical area seemed of the same good quality and lots of choice.

Just moved to Surbiton and was good to have a local aquatics store. Picked up a few shrimp, albino tetras and some purple harlequins. All livestock are in great condition, and quite a big selection of fishes avaliable. All the aquarium equipment you'd need and food too - also they stock live food (blood worms, etc) which is a bonus! Great attentive staff and wonderful shop all round! Staff are keeping the customers COVID safe / secure by ensuring social distancing and avoiding crowds.

Cam not sure what to write here. I was left alone, good but no helpoffered. I did need help and felt l was intruding they have been open for years I know but to be honest not a I fan, they have a local competitor in pet smart believe it or not due to the attitude. They have a wide stock and a lot of stuff but if I am spending upwards of £50 I want decent service, sorry

I have only been using Lynwood for a short time as we are new to the World of Axolotls. I knew Lynwood was in existence even before I needed their services. I have seen reviews saying that the are messy and its dark inside. Who gives a rat about the displays and the fact there is low lighting in some areas. I have received the best services in a store ever. The staff are friendly and when you are a regular, they are so helpful and make you feel at home every time you are there. Not just a one off. If I have had a query I ask. If they don't know the answer they will find the answer. Yes its a never ending maze of rooms in there. This is what makes it unique. I am not a fish keeper by any means, but I always have a browse when I go there. Nothing stands out as if there are dead fish and alge ridden tanks everywhere. Id rather have a good owner and staff, who know what they're talking about, than it looking like the inside of Harrods!! Highly recommended 🙃

Extremely helpful, great advice and friendly staff. Huge selection of everything to choose from. Hugely beneficial for the new/novice fish keeper. Will definitely be a regular customer here. Back again, for a second tank, and everything associated with it, all done in one trip, excellent service and knowledge, top class.

The place needs a bit of tidying up. It's like going inside a cave as you enter the shop. On the other hand they have good selections of fish from marine to cold water and tropical.

Had an emergency, when part of my 10+ year old filter broke. After a quick phone call, a visit to the shop, and the obscure part was found in stock. A literal life saver.

Seeing the website that they have great marine stock thought I'd take an hour to travel down see what they have ,don't like giving 1 star but not even worth 1 star ,had 1 trigger fish and some shrimp, bit disappointed maybe good for tropical or pond but marine no chance

Big selection of fresh and saltwater fish ,aquariums and accessories . Professional advise always can be found . I am just wandering how they still keep going. Their prices are higher than most of the aquatic shops.

Advertised as the largest aquatic shop in the UK. It isn’t. It’s a nice little shop for basic aquatics. It has a nice atmosphere, however, even if I lived on the same road I would probably only pop in for live food and go elsewhere for anything else. It really isn’t worth a visit.

visited here once before so decided to return. i saw a large tinfoil barb in the tank and decided i wanted to purchase him. after the lady had bagged him up she then decided to tell me that he has a fugal infection, which was fine as she said she’d give me some treatment to go with him. thinking there would be no extra charge she took me to the medicine and gave me the biggest bottle costing £21 i then questioned if i’d have to pay for this medicine to which she said yes. i left the fish as that is ridiculous, 1 charging £30 for a sick fish and 2 charging me for the bloody medication too! the cheek of it !! will not be returning here although george was absolutely lovely which is such a shame as the lady has let this fish shop down.

I went to get a few plants for a nature pond, limited selection of pond plants, started off well when I asked a member of staff for advice who honestly told me he was not the best person to ask but would get someone to help, the lady who came was pleasant enough but the advice offered was to read the labels! The plant prices seemed average but the pond weed was expensive at £4.50 for a sprig.

From the first call I made the staff here have been super helpful and friendly. They were able to make suggestions based on our sense of style and home set up, guided us with the design and were always responsive as well as proactively keeping me up to date on the status of my order. We live our new tank and cabinet and I cannot wait to start welcoming some fish again with their help and guidance. The store has everything you could need.
