The Solihull store This shop, which I have always loved, is beginning to disappoint me. Why is there always something - actually, several things - not working? Last week it was the escalator, the loyalty card scanner in the restaurant, one of the barriers which should let us out of the carpark and the hand dryer in the Ladies’ loo. Yesterday the scanner is still not working (apparently for 5 weeks now) and the barrier in the carpark is still not functioning. This last thing is a significant issue. I paid my parking fee and the found myself in a long queue to get out as it was Saturday afternoon, only one barrier was working, the person at the front was having some problem with her ticket. So no one was moving. There was no one in the car park office. Why not? And there should be someone checking tickets manually at the barrier. As it was, we were all more or less being held prisoner just in case any one of us hadn’t paid! Shock horror. Treat your customers properly: it’s YOUR responsibility to make sure that we can get out easily once we’ve paid. That barrier has been out of action for weeks now so make alternative arrangements. The “shame, customers will just have to queue” mentality is not what we pay for. Not good enough.

Went to buy a bed and was assisted by someone very helpful and knowledgeable. Headed to the restaurant to have a think before buying...what a contrast! Most of the chairs are absolutely dreadful, ergonomically very poor, and with customers noticeably hunting about for the very few comfortable ones. When you do get settled into a backache-inducing chair you find that the milk for the tea is provided in a butter dish because they have no jugs! Went ahead and bought the bed but shall avoid the store in the future.

I accompanied my friend to John Lewis, Solihull, yesterday as she was hoping to buy her mother-of-the-bride outfit. We were on the ladies fashion floor and selected a couple of dresses ourselves but we were not having much luck. Then a fabulous assistant called Chris came to our rescue! She was amazing! She walked round the departments with us, selecting garments along the way then showed us to the very plush and private changing area. It turned into a stress free, enjoyable occasion enhanced by Chris's knowledge and experience. And we found the dress!! Thanks so much Chris and we look forward to seeing you again for a fabulous personal shopping experience.

What is the problem with this place? The restaurant is either shut or has no hot food. Again, today, it was the latter. John Lewis used to be a great store, but it has clearly stopped trying. And they wonder why sales are down.

This morning 22/10/23 we visited the car seat area to purchase a child seat, at 10:45 we were told we had to wait until 11 for the till to open as it was Sunday, this was fair enough so we did a bit of browsing and came back at 11. The same assistant was there but with another who offered to serve us but was overruled by the original assistant, we were snapped rudely at "can you please wait" even though she knew we had waited 15 minutes, unbelievably they then proceeded to discuss their break times in front of us, shocking customer service, sale lost and we won't be returning to any department, no wonder JL is struggling. If you need a car seat go anywhere but here - what we experienced was dire rude customer service.

Came for breakfast. After an incredibly long wait, was handed the dishes that because they had been left under the hot plate so long, burned my hands. Complained to the person taking the money who just laughed and agreed. The person actually serving the food did not have English as his first language and rather then supporting him, his team members around him very clearly showed their frustration instead. Highly unprofessional and left us really disappointed.

Gone down hill fast. Super unpleasant Dior woman who could not be bothered with manners, just curt grunts when trying to pay. My 200 pound jumper had holes in which I now need to pay to return and they had the nerve to charge me 4 pounds to park when spending 800 quid! When we went to eat in the restaurant at 4pm the only thing left was one overpriced gluten free sandwich. Having used John Lewis for years I will never return and fully understand now why they are a failing business. What a shame.

Travelled 40 minutes down to this John Lewis yesterday to purchase a product that apparently had 2 available in store (the website and app said this), arrived and the staff were completely unwilling to help even though there were many of them standing around doing nothing and they did not offer advice or any further support. Before arrival, I called the store multiple times with continued no response, to check on the stock availability as well. Really disappointed, always relied on John Lewis to be a trustworthy and helpful store- this store really let me down, website and staff both. Had to pay for parking on top of this wasted journey as well! Not a happy customer.

Last Saturday, we went for the first time to a John Lewis store (Solihull), following the advice from some friends. We will have a baby soon and we went to get some advice on pushchairs, car seats etc. As we were taking a look around, one lady came to us to offer her help and we just needed to tell her we were about to have a boy very soon and we were a little lost about what to buy... She spent more than an hour with us, showing us all the products, explaining us the differences between them, how do they work, giving us recommendations... The most polite and nicest lady you could find... Her name was Anita... Thanks for that! We cannot give less than 5 stars, great customer service!

I think this is a lovely store. But don’t try to phone them, you will be directed to a call centre in Manilla who are unhelpful, and unable to source stock from another store if it’s not available on line, which used to be a great service JL offered. This now seems to be the same with all the stores, straight through to Manilla. Disappointing. I fine the staff in all stores I have visited really helpful and they remain a lovely place to shop.

My daughter and I went to the Clinique counter yesterday and we were met by Louise . She was so helpful and knowledgeable and really made my daughter feel at ease while assisting her . Even though the products we required weren’t in stock she made sure we got them online instead at a cheaper price too! She is a real asset to John Lewis and I would highly recommend visiting the Clinique counter .

On Wednesday we visited your store looking for a outfit for a wedding. Over the last 2 years I think I’ve forgotten how to shop. My husband found a customer assistant called Mia M who could not have been more helpful. She also asked another assistant who was with a customer but also pointed us in the right direction. Mia showed me lots of ideas and went in search of sizes. Thank you for all your help Mia.

I ordered a fridge freezer from John Lewis and I couldn't be happier. The price was the same as various other outlets but what swung it for me was the 2 years guarantee, free delivery service and that they take my old fridge freezer away for no extra cost. I was kept informed by e-mail, text message and telephone call on the delivery status and the 2 guys who delivered it were absolutely brilliant a real credit to the company. Thank you to the team at John Lewis for the excellent customer service you have provided - keep up the good work.

Such a lovely initial experience in John Lewis Solihull today. I was served at the till by the sweetest girl, Niamh, so genuine and kind and friendly. I also bought other items at several different departments and the till staff were efficient and friendly. However I am giving less than 5 stars overall as woman at the cafe who served me had such a bad attitude (11am- ish, hot breakfast counter) Unfortu I don’t have her name but after spending a vast amount of money in the store her attitude has left me with an uncomfortable feeling to ever return

Had a pitstop at the cafe on the upper floor and ordered a breakfast sandwich. Very nice!!! Like the toasted brioche bun... and egg is a must!! Sonia & Scarlett on the 'hot counter' were lovely and sorted out a slight problem for me. Great service!! Thank you!! 5/5

Absolutely disappointed! Long term customer who orders loads from JL because I expect a certain standard of care. This time JL decides to use Amazon Shipping for delivery (why would you do that!) who deliver 8 items to the wrong address. Items I needed over the weekend. I’m then told it will take upto 6 days to investigate the incident only then can my items be sent out again! Like wow! So much for excellent customer service!

Not even worth 1 star. Customer Service is appalling. Been waiting a phone call since Sunday. No phone call but an email. No excuse because its Christmas.Your Staff need more training. Ordered an item in Store on the Monday. Arranged for collection on the Saturday. Not arrived in Store. Was sent on a wild goose chase in store. Over 2 hours on the phone trying to sort. Ahh well John Lewis there are plenty of other shops for me to spend my money!!

Nice car park and location, store is easy to navigate with staff at the escalators to assist. We were purchasing an air fryer and Dan on electronics is amazing he searched the back and reductions for one he found earlier, although, it turned out to be the smaller model. He then helped us place an order for it to keep the sale price once restocked- super helpful definitely went above the expected. Brilliant team the store you want to visit for great service.

Good and bad in the same visit. Bad - went to buy a vacuum that was supposedly in stock, expensive, top of the range one from Shark. It wasn't in stock, tried to buy the display and basically given the bums rush. Shrug of the shoulders, couldn't care less attitude. Good - on the way in we saw a lovely Christmas runner along one of their Christmas displays. We went looking for the runner and couldn't find one. Then we saw another under the coffee makers - we asked the lady if she knew where we could buy one from as we had looked everywhere - she checked and said there were two in store (the 2 we had seen) She then said if you can help me move the coffee makers I can sell you this one. Just £11 - won't make of break John Lewis's profit's - but what a good sales lady I'm sure if there was a Mr John Lewis he would have been so happy with this lady and promoted her, the other Vacuum lady he would of fired.

We recently ordered with this company for the first time and was so delighted that our order arrived very quickly and the whole process was quick, easy and went very smoothly . Upon receiving our purchase we was very pleased at the quality and look forward to placing orders again in the near future. Thank you john Lewis for making our 1st online experience so enjoyable and hassle free.

As ever, the displays were attractive . The staff members are polite and helpful. The toilets are kept in good order. A wide variety of goods are available over the different floors. The Touchwood car park and the John Lewis car park offer very convenient parking

I visited the Solihull branch to find something special to wear for my sons wedding. I can honestly say the assistant Debbie couldn't have been more helpful. She was an amazing help choosing different styles + colours of dresses that would suit me. Thank you so much Debbie you took most of the stress of shopping away from me today. Sunday 7th May 23

Normally I find the John Lewis staff to be good, but the John Lewis person covering the Sonos display clearly did not know the product. He insisted the sub mini would not work with my existing sonos system. Despite questioning as it made no sense he stood his ground. I later researched online and confirmed I was right and he did not know what he was talking about so purchased from Sevenoaks hi-fi. Pleased to say the sub works fine with my system!

I just wanted to let you know that your associate at the Estee Lauder counter (Raaj i believe) provided us with some outstanding service yesterday (2/12), colour matching myself and my mother with some products and explaining the different types of products available. I couldnt find anywhere to direct positive feedback on the website, so I'll reccommend her here

Not at all happy with the bureau de change section. I went in today to convert some £500 to Czech Koruna but because it was at that amount, I was told that I had to show ID just because it was at £500 or if it was more than that. I showed the lady serving me my provsional driving licence, only to be told they wouldn't accept it and they would only accept a full driving licence or passport. The lady serving was quite unfriendly about it. I then questioned the reason as to why I needed to show ID, then her colleague told this was due to a change in the system you use. I don't think it is necessary to have to show ID every time you want to convert money and the way this was handled, I was not happy.

Just been to The Place to Eat inside John Lewis. Very disappointed with the limited food available, I had to change my choice only to find myself paying ridiculous money for so little portion. The serving was cheap and simple like school meals, that I wasn't even in the mood to take pictures. The worst dining experience I have had since the recovery of the pandemic. Strongly not recommend.

Took my husband here to buy a suit for our daughter's wedding, after failing to get good customer service from a shop on the high street (ignored in one and when asked, the young lady said sorry everything we have is out) We received excellent service from a young man called Regan, who went to a lot of trouble to get the size and fit right. Our return was based on the previous excellent service I received at the beginning of June when purchasing my mother if the bride outfit. Would recommend the courteous, welcoming service to anyone

What a beautiful store. It reminds me of how The House of Fraser used to be. Good quality modern merchandise well displayed; friendly and helpful staff - it makes shopping pleasurable again.

Great customer service. Especially one Asian lad on the tills by the technology section downstairs and another tall English young chap overseeing the Ralph Lauren section. They are extremely patient and show you around whenever you need assistance and make recommendations. Only reason why I missed a star is because in the John Lewis own branded suits section I was looking around for help for quite a long time and none of the ladies their approached me and helped me. But other than that the customer service is reasonably proactive but not so much that it becomes a nuisance.

As ever staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Great range of quality products competitively priced. Nice clean and organized store. Sets the standard for what a department store should be. Also has a fairly decent habedashery which is a rare thing these days.

First visit to Solihull store. Easy access from car park. Lots of sale items. Couldn't get bedding we wanted in correct size, but partner advised available on line and showed us how to access site to order. Staff in cafe very helpful and friendly. Will definitely visit again 🙂

I visited the restaurant at John Lewis, usually the service is quite quickly even when they are busy. I went to the restaurant about 2.30 at this time it was not very busy. I waited about 20 minutes for simple cheese and ham toasty. In the end l had to go up to the counter to ask if they had forgotten my order. One of the assisants went into the kitchen and came out and "said it will be one minute" , l dont think they had even started it. When the young girl brought it l asked her if she had forgotten it and she plonked it down and said "no" and just walked away without any apology. This isn't the service l expect from John Lewis, no isn't what l usually receive. I usually like to visit 2/3 times a week.

Cafe was not good unfortunately....waited a very long time on cake station as young servers seemed unsure how to serve it. Then it did taste as if it had been defrosted. We had been told only one coffee machine was working, but the whole place seemed disorganised, including finding a clear table. Still love the shop though !

I called this week and spoke to Paige Waldron as I had purchased a kitchen tap sometime ago and unfortunately it had developed a leak. I have been in to see Paige today and her customer service is second to non, it is very easy to criticize when things don't go well but I just want to say a huge thank you for sorting out the problem with the tap and issuing a replacement. You are a credit to the retail industry and John Lewis need to make sure they keep hold of people like you. Please pass on my thanks to Paige.

Arrived at 1.45 for lunch, only to find that there was actually nothing open. No hot food. No soup. Not even sandwiches. Just a few cakes. We asked if there was any way for them to provide a slice of plain toast for my autistic 4 year old. Apparently that was impossible.

Lovely store with helpful staff who took time to answer our queries, and didnt hassle us when other customers were waiting. Lots of Christmas gifts in store now too, with a good choice of fancy advent calendars. Parking in their car park was £4.40 for about 3 hours.

I had exceptionally good customer service a couple of days ago. I was looking at and trying on some underwear, and wasn’t sure what I was looking for. The lady there couldn’t have been more helpful, making different suggestions, taking the items out of the boxes ready for me to try on etc. And even though I didn’t buy anything in the end, she was just wonderful throughout. So a big shout out and thank you to Wendy on underwear in John Lewis, Solihull! 🙏
