Took my 2 year old to the minor injuries unit here, near closing time, for a gaping wound on the bridge of the nose. The service by all staff members from the reception to the nurses was spectacular. They were polite, considerate and efficient. The nurse who cleaned the wound distracted the child with some small toys. Bandaged well. Reassured me. Also showed me how to put the bandage on myself if I have to.

I would give no stars if I could. I am so tired of rude arrogant nurses. It is tough enough to suffer long term health problems, and Neurological problems, without them making me feel as stupid and worthless as they did today. It is not my fault I sometimes get confused and misunderstand things. I have developmental problems which I told them about and yet the nurses here only seem to respect those they consider "normal". It is exhausting trying to communicate with these people, they just don't care and I felt so insulted by them today.

My husband and myself were seen today, in the Physiotherapy Dept: 4/4/22. We were both delighted by the competence, kindness and genuine care, shown by all the staff. The atmosphere was calm, professional, prognosis and advice delivered, with assurance and simplicity ! Well Done SJCH l would highly recommend, and thank you all for your selfless attention. Appreciated !! Lorraine & John Jones

Unexpectedly had to visit Samuel Johnson mid morning on May 7th. Receptionist was polite and helpful. Waited around 25 mins to be seen. Nurse was very understanding given my emotional state. I felt listen too and given time despite knowing how busy they were. Was provided treatment and meds and asked to return the following Tuesday. The same excellent service received. Hope these services always remain. Great work by all and all with big smiles.

I would give no stars at all, no one in this unit waiting to be seen and was turned away with a cut hand, which is a minor injury. Arrogant person said I told you not to come here. Surely best to go to a minor unit rather than an A and E unit at a hospital who deals with more serious cases and their expertise is put to good use for the patients and the NHS.Would like to add that their website promoting their services posts a picture of a patient with hand in bandages! Unbelievable!

Visited the Minor Injuries Unit this morning with my 7-year old with a suspected fractured wrist. We were treated by Sister Vicki and we also went for an X-ray. They looked after my son with faultless care and professionalism and the hospital generally was very pleasant. All staff we met were friendly and the hospital is very clean. The car parking was very easy and reasonably priced.

The staff here are so pleasant and helpful. Only a small problem but dealt with quickly and efficiently. Local GP surgeries could do with a lesson from here.

I attended Samuel Johnson with a minor injury and was initially greeted by a kind, efficient receptionist. After a short wait Lucy examined my injury, she was very gentle, kind and knowledgeable. Next a short wait for X-ray and back to Lucy for the verdict and treatment. All done in less than an hour. Thank you Minor Injuries Dept.

WOW what a great place if you have a minor injury. The nurse took time to explain everything and put my mind at rest it was not more serious. What a great blue print this place should be for the future of the NHS. Weldone everyone involved.👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️

Colin on reception extremely helpful today and took me up to Physio Department for my appointment. Paula Deacon Physiotherapist was very competent and gave me confidence that I have not had for 5 months or more. Put my mind at rest and would like to thank her for the time she took looking after me and took away my fears for my health. Great hospital. Thanks

With one exception, excellent hospital and the nurses are brilliant, whether this is in the outpatients department or the minor injuries unit. Have dealt a lot with the dermatology nurses - absolutely lovely! However, today I came across the exception and it was shocking: I had to attend the minor injuries unit, came across a male nurse who was rude enough to just bark "which painkiller have you taken" (how about asking IF I have taken any - not everybody dopes themselves up at the first sign of pain!) before fobbing me off with "I've never seen anything like it, I don't know what it is, go to a bigger hospital"! Dude - I'd suggest you go back to college and read up on cervical dystonia/spasmodic torticollis: my symptoms are very typical for that! I can recognize a person with dystonia just from looking at them! And while we are at it - if you don't know something, get a colleague instead of sending a patient in very obvious discomfort out the door! By the way - no I didn't tell him. I don't help people that treat me with such disrespect! So sorry only four stars, but this dude needs to learn some manners and get back to college asap.

I went yesterday with a very sore foot after a fall and was seen within 40 minutes. I had to come back for an X-ray today and was seen again quickly. Within an hour I had been re seen by the nurse and informed I had fractured my foot. The service here is simply brilliant. Thank you to all of you, I can’t recommend the Minor Injuries department highly enough.

Very debilitating having to tell receptionist what you’re there for in front of all the waiting patients in the tiny reception/waiting room. Apart from that all good, minimum wait and lovely nurses. Got sorted in less than 1hr every time.

Blue badge holders : verify that your badge is registered with Parking Eye. I received a PCN charge for £70 despite having documented call records of registering my vehicle with them. Do not be intimidated and appeal.

Receptionist was lovely, the waiting room was very clean But then the nurse who saw my husband insisted he went into the consultation room alone, despite the fact I explained I am his carer!!! This is not a good system

My mother Rose Nicholls has dialysis at this hospital in the renal unit she is very well cared for by the staff and nurses who treat her so well. The only problem with the place is the transport home from ERS medical. Mother finishes her treatment basically the same time at 6pm where on a lot of occasions she can wait up to two hours waiting to be took home a twenty minutes journey. I would hope that the transport would be ordered every Monday Wednesday and Friday at five thirty to be able to get there from another job if they are not on site . this would make a vast difference to a Ninety Four years old blind disabled ladies life.

I give this community hospital a 1 star. I attended this at some point last week. My temp was 39.9 and had been a few days prior to this. I had been advised by the Ms team to attend. I got there and they said they didn't just take a random pee test. Nearly a week later in Mile Oak I was eventually seen and was told I have a severe water infection. It's now sun 11/12/22 and I've got to go back to Mile Oak. I live in Lichfield but I refuse to go back to Lichfield Samuel Johnson I fainted on the day I visited Lichfield. No one came to my aid.

Went today with my Ma who had had a nasty fall in Cannock Chase. She is 84 and had a nasty cut on leg that was bleeding quite badly. Alison was amazing, totally looked after my dear mum and even washed her feet as they were dusty from walking in the heat. Great service

Had cause to have a serious would re-dressed three times over the last seven days. I want to thank the staff involved at the Samuel Johnson for the care and effort they put in. Brilliant. Eventually ended up back at the QE to have it re-sewn. The girls at the SJ were superb

Appointment with Richard Lee, physiotherapist very helpful and thorough, and the two receptionist, Jennie and Tina, very pleasant and helpful. I’m afraid I haven’t always experienced such good service from other receptionists in the hospital. The lady on front desk also very kind and showed me how to use the car park payment (29/10/24)

I cannot fault the staff welcome and professional rapid service in X ray yesterday. The sonograher and her colleague were brilliant and reassuring. This hospital is a real asset to Lichfield and close for our residents who may be unable to travel to Burton.Thankyou NHS.

I arrived with my wife who was in agony. All the receptionist was interested in was if I would wear a mask, not bothered about my wife at all. I refused to wear one so she wouldn’t proceed. Had to agree that I was exempt, which I’m not, for her to continue with the process of treating my wife. She is an absolute disgrace of a human being and should be ashamed of her actions. The following patient wore a mask on his chin which in her mind was completely fine. No wonder the NHS doesn’t function with staff like her on the front line. I’m currently at Burton Hospital, not one mention of masks and most people not wearing one.
