Couldn’t help but notice the info on this banks cash dispenser and windows revealing that this is the Altrincham branch of a bank that is destroying our climate. Pumping billions of dollars into fossil fuels they are as guilty as Shell, BP and the rest of the fossil fuel industry. Time to switch !

Had very bad experience with Front desk Associate on Saturday, 7 Mar.. I do not know her name but she was highly incompetent and didn't know how to handle/resolve customer query. If a customer is visiting a branch then it is expected that his/her query should be resolved at branch itself BUT she advised me to call customer care to resolve it after spending 5 mins on the computer. This was really not expected and very frustrated. Then I went inside and told my problem to another associate (I think his name was Mike ), he solved my problem in just 10 mins. Fantastic job. This is called Customer Service. 5 Start to him. I will give ZERO star to that Front Desk associate who claimed herself to be Manager. LoL

I have to say that in more than fifty years of being a bank customer, during which time I have worked for over forty years in banking and finance, I have never experienced such unhelpful 'customer service'. This is the only time I have been refused being able to pay in to an account in the same group and told in no uncertain terms to 'Do it online' The reason for the refusal to accept my cash credit payment was that the beneficiary account was a 'collection' account. When I referred back to the beneficiary and explained this they assured me other clients had had no issues and that the real reason was more likely to be a precautionary money laundering matter and they could not be bothered with the paperwork involved. I suggest the management of HSBC Altrincham takes a serious look at the information being provided by the lady cashier in question, as there is clearly a training need and perhaps refers her back to a customer service course. Do not open a business account here. It is impossible to get hold of anybody when there is a problem on your account. The safeguarding team suspended my trading account on Friday night, and no-one was in until Monday? They needed some information from me apparently. I am closing my accounts here.

Completely under staffed and lack customer service skills. I have just stood waiting for 30 mins on my lunch break to then be seen by an unapologetic, rude (who I think was the) manager who quickly brushed me off. I'd rather be on hold on the phone for an hour and be treated well than go into that branch again!

This branch is hopeless don't bother! I wanted to log into my application for a business account and was having difficulty with the website so called into the branch. The assistant said he couldn't help me and was very abrupt. He told me to hurry up as they were closing soon. it was around 4.25pm and the website claimed the branch closed at 5pm! There was zero customer service and when I called the help centre later I was told the branch could have helped me to log in quite simply. I will now have to go to a different branch to complete the application process, but this has put me off so much! May well end up using a different bank altogether!!

Good service in a good location. There was no need to wait to be serviced by the riendly staff.

Banked with these for years but counter service on Saturday has closed so can't pay a large cheque in without getting a tram into Manchester. This is a company that is supposedly making my life easier. Joke.

A very unpleasant experience, received the approach of "how not to resolve a customer inquiry" or "send them away asap".. the worst branch compared to the other banks I use. The front desk personnel (she/her) did not even know their own company regulations, and went through a door to check with someone (?) and only to come back and advise the same: "we can't". Is it a customer's job to teach them how to do their job? I didn't think so. I was highly frustrated with my experience from this lady on 23 dec 2022, and will be going back as soon as they re open, perhaps even to file a domestic abuse prosecution as per the Act of 2021 statutory guidance. A word of polite recommendation to these persons: At least try to be kind and reasonable to understand the customer, first. It is for free, and you would only benefit from this. Zero star rating. Go to other branches where possible.

Drove from Urmston to Altringham on Saturday to post an important cheque only to find no postal letterbox or ATM . Waisted journey!

Never opens on time. The machines inside the branch are always broken. Staff is always busy having coffee breaks instead of helping customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Finding an HSBC bank that is still open these days is like finding dinosaur that is still alive in the present day.

A shame you can’t give zero. Turn up 15 minutes before they shut but because ID verification takes 20 minutes (that no one mentioned previously) they refused. Such poor customer service! They have fewer branches further apart that close earlier. Close your account and find another bank!

It’s the busiest branch but as soon as I get the appointment it’s so smooth and convenient. Shout out to Jayne Oliver the most sweet and accommodating attending our concern very helpful and relaxed, she even kept update with the process and replies quick to all my email concerns . 👍🏼

Great customer service

Had a very bad experience in the Knutsford branch, but was seen in 5 minutes at Altrincham branch by a really helpful member of staff who bent over backwards to help. The meet and greet person was super helpful too!

I visited the bank today and the place is very walcome by staff and one of the member of staff was a special who helped me today. She was so helpful and very friendly and professional service .I thinking her name is Indrani.

Very poor banking will block the accounts for no reasons and won’t help the customers to get unblocked calls wil be alwys busy shld wait more then 3hrs to talk to a agent tell the problem

I found them really responsive. I am able to open an account in just an hour. Matt is fantastic guy. Really happy with service at this branch.

They cannot exchange old notes (still in use) to new notes. Is it even a bank?
